Hazardous Affection

Her heels ticked as she walked by all the shops, hurrying to get under the large city bridge due to her lack of a car and an umbrella. The weather doesn't seem to be funny nowadays.

She quickly hurries to the bridge that's just a few steps away. Her red heels ticks on the ground tirelessly. Her hat that got black net hovering and veiling her face swings with every royal step she takes.

She finally reaches below the bridge with a thank you escaping her lips as she watches the water pour down from the Heavens immediately she steps her foot under the bridge.

They are several other people under the bridge, watching the rain pour and how the people walking like the rain will never fall, starts to run Helter-skelter looking for shelter.

Everyone stares at the young lady with red heels and a blue knee-high dress. Her lips were as red as a flower of the rose because of the excess lipstick she put on.

Her brown hair is properly kept in a high ponytail that's decorated with all sorts of ribbons and rubber bands.

Her hat that got a black net veiling her face makes her look more like a model than a member of the occupation she got herself in.

She doesn't seem to care about how they stare, which is definitely unlike the shy Hale everyone use to know.

The birth certificate identifies that she is the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Lowell Stevens but they sold her to an orphanage because they didn't want their firstborn child to be a girl. They wanted a boy.

And so, they did away with her by selling her to an orphanage when she turned one.

So one faithful evening, another set of parents also wanted to do the same for their baby boy, but seeing the beauty of the displaying girls that they asked the orphanage handlers to display, touched their hearts so much and to them, the most beautiful girl was Ganda Stevens.

They made another birth certificate and stamped her new name, which is now Hale Martins.

Hale grew up in a very rich family. Her biological parents work for her adoptive parents, but she always ignore them whenever they wanted to see her.

If they really want to see her they wouldn't have sold her to an orphanage.

Her Junior brother, Alex, is the presiding CEO of the company because she rejected being the heir of the family when she knows that Alex is the real person who should be that.

Though Alex is unaware of the fact of his adopted sister, they still get along pretty well as adults.

But as kids...

"Hey! This is mine!" "No, it's mine!"

Every day happened to be fighting days... Which were seriously minded by Mr. And Mrs. Martins because they didn't want a family of fights and lack of unity, it's very inappreciable and disgraceful.

And so they did their very best to make Alex and Hale get along pretty well, resulting in the rightful heir of the Martins, Alex.

The family, including Alex, wanted Hale to take over, while Alex work under her. It was already settled amongst them but Hale refused on the commission day.

She had a reason only she and her parents knew and not Alex.

She isn't their biological daughter, but Alex is.

And if Alex gets to know, things will change. It will.

And so, just for Hale to not spill the beans, their parents accepted in a rush and made the commissioning to be on Alex.

Alex hated the idea but had to do it anyway because he respects and loves Hale.

Hale left home when she was sixteen to go out to the world. It was then she realized that she was given birth to by her mum with a terrible reproductive system damage, due to a lack of proteins and vitamins when her mother was pregnant with her.

The doctor said that the reproductive system damage will also lead to the uterus, respiratory, and womb damage for her mother and that would lead to death. Premature, death.

That didn't concern Hale because she knew she had another family now, so she said nothing about that.

Hale asked the doctor about her condition properly, when it comes to delivering a baby, how is she going to do that?

The doctor explained that Hale's condition can be really critical when it comes to that, so she needs to put herself together and take the news he was about to say very seriously.

He said that giving birth to a baby at her age will be risky because they will have to tear her abdomen in two to bring the baby out.

Either that or she should wait to the age 30-33 to get married and have a baby, by that time the damage will be able to take the delivery of a baby or two.

He also said that if she picks option 'A', for the splitting of her abdomen, it may lead to other damages, like a womb cut, her veins splitting, it can also lead to fallopian tubes disintegration.

Hale didn't like the sound of that, but the doctor proceeded anyways.

He said if she pick option 'B', to wait, she would deliver a baby or two and the damage may want to rise up again. Once it does, she would have to refrain from getting pregnant for about 10-12 years before she can go into the pregnancy mission.

This information caused so many men to leave her and marry other women. They wanted to cheer her up and make her happy by sending all sorts of gifts, even the phone numbers of their single friends, but Hale rejected them all.

She wanted a man that would wait until she gets back on her feet, not the men she's meeting that's promising and failing...

No lady will love such a man.

So she left Australia at eighteen and now, she's in Florida. To see if the Lord can shower his mercies on her by giving her just one man.

Hale watches the people running Helter-skelter as the rain poured down upon them.

Taking a bite out of the doughnut in her hand, she smiles.

She remembers her past and what she has passed through in recent days.
