Host: Nowadays parents have a lot of concerns over social media like Whotube and Wriggle.tv, the effects it has on the youth, as well as what's a suitable age for youth to stop being monitored by their parents. With me today I have some parents, among them is a psychologist. Now, let's get into it. What are your observations, Parents?

Parent 1: Yes, well I think people like WhoTubers like FrewdiePie are pieces of shit. They target the youth and teach them bad things.

Parent 3: I don't quite agree, FrewdiePie doesn't have any control over the fact that young children have taken a liking to him.

Parent 1: But he knows it and he acts so stupid and-and racist!

Parent 3: My son watches him, and from the surface he can most certainly rub off on you the wrong way. If you take the time to watch his videos and see where he's coming from with a less judgemental perspective, you'll be able to see that his intention isn't malicious but just to poke fun-

Parent 1: And it's offensive!

Parent 3: He's not as bad as you're making him out to be. Why are you complaining about the most popular WhoTuber? There are many other WhoTubers out there who are worse, some have flirted and groomed their young fans, others abuse animals by faking rescues, and then there's makeup gurus who are always getting into drama…

Parent 2: Is FrewdiePie perhaps the only WhoTuber you know of?

Parent 1: ...Of course not! I'm not that old, I watch WhoTube videos all the time!

Parent 3: I bet it's like tutorial videos aren't they?

Parent 1: ...And your point?

Host: Now, now, let's not get personal here.

Parent 3: The main point I'm trying to say is that WhoTubers have no control over who watches them, true, they do cater to audiences, but it'd be easy to blame them for not doing that, or for targeting the youth by pitching their sales but if you think about it it's not any different from them watching television? The characters are wacky and animated, the commercials also target the youth. Rather than blaming WhoTubers for influencing their children, I think parents need to take responsibility.

Parent 1: What the- are you saying I'm a bad parent?

Parent 3: No. I- I didn't mean you just now!

Parent 4: Pardon me, I don't want to interrupt but I would like to explain what she's insinuating by taking responsibility, She means to say the fact the child is spending their time watching youtube videos all the time is already telling, it means they have enough free time to do so! A lot of youth who use platforms like WhoTube and Wriggle Streams especially are youth that aren't social, they spend their time at home and have nothing to do. 

Parent 3: Yes! I'm glad you understand me! Sir, I meant no offense. I was trying to say that parents needed to take responsibility and spend more time with their children. Whether it be watching videos with them or having them spend less time indoors on their phone or computers, I always limit the amount of time my sons spend online, this way the chances of them discovering new WhoTubers become less.

Parent 1: …

Parent 2: I don't think there's anything wrong with WhoTube, I watch videos with my kids all the time. Being able to talk and relate to your child about certain subjects brings you closer. Also, as I have an interest in it myself, I don't really see a need to limit their time unless they forget about their other responsibilities.
