13 Mum....Dad....

Betty and phoenix's relationship has been the most envied of all in school. Betty did not fail to notice the maliciously grudging eyes of the girls in school. It made her feel so high, she knew that phoenix was meant for her and her only, so she never bothered about them.

"Hey lover girl" Betty heard them chattering as she walked home. Phoenix had left earlier, saying he had some important issues to deal with so he rushed back home before school over. Lily and Alicia had been "busy" nowadays so she want to bother them.

"Hey!!!!" a group girls standing by the road side yelled at her but Betty ignored them and kept on walking home. They went after her and dragged her back

"Don't you have respect you little brat?"

She looked at them with disgust evident in her face.

"Oh because you are now dating phoenix right?" they

"Well it would interest you to know that Phoenix is...."

Betty slapped the girl even before she could finish her sentence.

"Don't you dare mention Phoenix name with those disgusting lips of yours" and she walked away.

The girls were still surprised of what had just happened, but they ran after her to beat the hell out of her. They paused in their tracks when they saw Phoenix walk towards them, they instantly felt a menacing aura coming from him.

"Phoenix??!" they were all shocked to their bones. He walked by them and in fear they all dispersed.

"Betty are you alright?"

"Ye....."she responded

"Did they hurt you anywhere" he searching through her body for any injury

"phoenix am okay"

"Those....."

"Phoenix!! am okay...but what are you doing here I thought....?"

"Oh I came to give you this" his dangerous aura dissipated almost immediately

"Chocolates!!!"

"mm"

"Thank you, I love it"

"And I love you" he added

"Shameless Phoenix" she thought to herself trying to find her words

"Let me take you home"

"Mm okay."

She was already asleep when she heard some noises coming from downstairs. At first she ignored it but then it got so loud and then a loud bang.

She rushed out of her bed room towards the staircase, the noise was coming from her parents room. she headed towards their door as she placed my ear to listen to what was happening

"You just slapped me?"

"And I would do it again you harlot"

"How dare you call me a harlot"

"Because you are!!!"

"Oh you think I don't know about your affairs with women?? how you chase..." he was about to land another slap on her face but he paused

"I have endured you enough. Here are the divorce papers. I had gotten them long time ago but I decided to be patient especially on my daughter's birthday now she is old enough to fend for herself."

"This marriage is over You have not less than five minutes to pack out if not..." Betty had finally opened the door. She was shocked to her core. She looked at her dad then her mum..

She was surprised to see how they acted on her birthday she had always experienced their fights that occurred almost always, they would fight for days and never make up. Her dad never came back till she saw him on her birthday.

"so it was all pretence" she thought to herself

she looked at them once more with pain evident in her eyes.
