15 Birthday and Acceptance letter

Rays of light shined on my face through the cracks in the slightly parted curtains. They shined with a red lustre as they mixed with the shine of the morning sun, effectively lighting my room up in a natural glow. I woke up to the sounds of birds tapping away at my window and the smell of freshly brewed coffee that wafted through the cracks underneath my door. As I sat up, my feet touched the cold wooden floor. As I got changed the sound of Diana's humming could be faintly heard from the kitchen. This was a special day for me and the Knights. That is because it was the day that I turned 11 and the day that I got my acceptance letter.

I lifted my head up from the bathroom sink to see the face of a young boy with wet black hair, bright blue eyes and a slightly taller than average height. I was 1.56 meters tall this year and I had constantly been growing for the past couple of months. I was happy about it Honestly since I don't like being small. I dried my hair with a towel, got changed into a comfortable oversized hoodie, trackies and some slippers before walking downstairs.

After turning the corner I was greeted by Diana with a kiss on the cheek before heading to the kitchen table where Luke, like every morning, was reading the daily newspaper. "Anything interesting today?" I asked luke as usual while sipping on my coffee Diana had just placed on the table. "no, nothing out of the normal just some thefts, accidents on the road and politics as usual. Man I hate politics." he said while shaking his head and putting his newspaper down and taking a sip of his tea. I agreed with what luke said, I hated politics as well, never really wanted to be a part of it, but I would have to be in the future as part of our plan.

Shaking my head dejectedly while thinking about this, I was soon brought out of it by the sound of a letter slipping through the crack beneath the door. I jumped to my feet almost instantly and ran to the door. Diana and Luke both laughed at my eagerness. I picked up the letter only to see that it was just the bills for the month. "fuck!" I muttered under my breath before heading back to the table and handing the letter over to Luke. I saw that his face held a surprised expression, but as he read he looked up at me and laughed his head off. "ha! Tom, bad luck, next for sure." he said reassuringly.

I only nodded my head indignantly for a while as I continued to sip on my coffee silently. I heard the same sound from the door and ran again only to pick up some advertisement for the new person running for Priminister of England. I cursed again silently before handing it to Diana who also laughed as she looked at my sunken expression with pity. When the sound came again 10 mins later I didn't even bother to go and left it to Diana as I watched tv.

Diana only shook her head seeing my reaction, but what do I care, it's probably something stupid again. Sadly it wasn't, sometimes I wonder if someone is toying around with me. As Diana came back with a letter I turned my head to look at it for a moment before Jumping up in surprise and indignation. Why the FUCK is it that the time I don't go It appears? I questioned myself, only to hear Drak's snarky remark. [because your luck is trash kid] he said with a hearty laugh. My mood was foul but It was much better when Diana handed me the letter and sat down next to Luke who was staring at the letter expectantly.

After that page, there was another that had a list of all the books, materials, uniforms needed, equipment and so on. Luke and Diana had warm smiles on their faces as I looked up at them with a smile of my own. Before I could say anything we heard a knock. Luke got up and walked towards the door. I soon hear the sound of the door opening, a woman's voice, the door closing and an extra set of footsteps behind Luke's coming into the kitchen. I soon got a look at who it was and was surprised to see professor McGonagall herself. I didnt think it would be her of all people after all, but thinking about how some teachers would come to represent the school, it didnt seems that surprising anymore.

As Professor McGonagall looked around she soon locked onto me and the letter in my hands. Then looked towards Luke and Diana who had a calm smile on their faces. "I see. you do not seem surprised by the fact that the child is a wizard," she commented. "Nope, Tom here has been using magic rather proficiently from a young age so it doesn't come as a surprise. Plus I'm a squib so I know about the magical world," he said calmly before Looking at me.

I was surprised by this, I didnt know he was a squib, It must have slipped my mind since he never did seem surprised about magic apart from when I first used it at the age of 3 to somehow levitate a book but I couldn't do it later on. I'll need to ask Drak or Luke himself about his history with my father. I thought before Looking towards professor McGonagall.

" Well, that makes it more convenient for me, would you like to send your child to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry?" she asked. Luke and Diana looked at each other and then at me before nodding almost 5 seconds later. professor McGonagall was content with the answer as a smile appeared on her face. "very well, I would like to take the child to buy the necessary items for the beginning of the school year in September, is that permissible?" she asked warmly. Luke and Diana soon nodded again.

Professor McGonagall turned to me once again. "I'm glad to welcome you to our school, Mr Knight. Now, come with me we'll be going to get your items," she said as she walked to the door. I turned to Luke and Diana gave them a hug and walked out the door to see professor McGonagall standing on the driveway. She extended out her right hand. "grab on Mr Knight, you might feel discomfort for a little while but bear with it" she said. I sighed again as I remembered the feeling of apparition before taking her hand.

In an instant, my vision went black and then returned to normal but we were in an alley to the side of a Charing Cross Road this time. I let go of her hand and looked around. I was much more composed than the last time, I still had my discomfort but it was bearable. Professor McGonagall nodded her head in praise as she looked at my semi composed look. We soon walked out of the alley and into the street where muggles came and went, each minding their own business. Walking down the street we saw a run-down pub that was ignored by every muggle that walked by. The Leaky Cauldron was nestled between a Muggle bookshop and a record store.

making our way over, the sign that was originally black and empty seemed to come to life as an image of a cauldron appeared. For a famous place, it was very dark and shabby. A few old women were sitting in a corner, drinking tiny glasses of sherry. One of them was smoking a long pipe. A little man in a top hat was talking to the old barman, who was quite bald and looked like a gummy walnut.

Professor McGonagall and I made our way through to a small walled-off yard out back where a few sunken bricks were visible. I had seen this scene in the Harry Potter movie so I knew what came next. Professor McGonagall tapped on certain bricks in a specific order and soon the bricks began to move to the left and right respectively. In a little while, they solidified again to form a doorway of sorts and through it, a new world appeared.
