15 Chapter 15 : ROR and Jakrey

KATA

After class, I ran through the labyrinthine corridors of Hogwarts, determined to find the Room of Requirement. It took some wandering, but eventually, I reached the seventh floor and sought out the tapestry of Barnabus the Barmy.

After a few false starts, I found Barnabus in the third corridor I explored. Across from it, stood an empty stone wall.

Walking back and forth three times, I fervently wished for a safe, undisturbed place to advance in my magical studies.

Miraculously, a small wooden door materialized before me.

THWACK

Opening it, I stepped into a circular room divided into different areas, featuring a round table beside a fireplace and a row of empty shelves.

CRACKLE CRACKLE

Next to the table was a comfortable reading chair, which instantly eased my body as I settled into it. The chair was undoubtedly charming.

Eager to test the room's capabilities, I wished for information on Animagus magic. To my delight, the shelves filled with rows of books changed in response to my request. I selected the first one, feeling the age of its leather-bound spine beneath my fingertips. The book, titled "History of the Animagus," appeared before me. "Oh, this room truly is a remarkable piece of magic," I thought to myself.

Although I couldn't practice Animagus magic at that moment, I didn't mind adding the books to my database.

I continued to experiment, pushing the limits of the room's capabilities.

----------

[The Room of Requirement: It's the one thing that made me realize there might be more to magic than the few descriptions in Canons.

The room is an alchemical miracle capable of performing magic on its own. Yes, you heard that right. It can execute the same magic that I once believed required a soul. Although that notion remains true, the room taps into the wards and schemes of Hogwarts, using the Leyline beneath it to power itself. It even possesses artificial intelligence, a feat Rowena Ravenclaw managed to achieve in the Medieval ages through mind magic.]

"Avis!"

KAW KAW KAW

The summoned birds attacked the dummy as I leapt to the side, avoiding the coloured rays of needle prick.

ZAP

ZAP

ZAP

I soon began testing the capabilities of the room, practising spells on the mannequins—or dummies, as I liked to call them. As they moved in a circular formation, I cast spells at them. The result made me realize my aim was shit.

"Damn, I have lousy aim."

THUD

So, I decided to remove aiming from the equation. As the first dummy rebounded, I seized the opportunity, casting a slowing charm—Impedimenta—with my wand on dummy 2 and the same spell endlessly on dummy 3.

Walking out of the ring with an Incendio from my wand over my shoulder, I turned back.

CRACKLE CRACKLE

WHROOOOOM

SIZZLE

As expected, the damaged dummies vanished, replaced by new ones that moved slightly faster this time.

AI, what are the results of the test?

[The room has increased the speed of the dummy's spell activation by 2% and made its material more fire-resistant by 5%.

Mastery of Impedimenta – 32/100

Incendio – 89/100]

The room possesses AI; this confirms it. Gradually increasing the difficulty to aid in my training.

The room seems to be constructed of alchemical magical alloys and enchanted to create anything the user requires. Temporary materials like dummies and fake wands are produced within it. The spells are enchanted on the dummies upon creation by the room.

Utilizing access to the wards, the room replicates books from the library integrated into the ward scheme. Let's just say the ward schemes are scary and It's no wonder no one tries to steal them.

[Current reserves: 5 units]

Deciding not to risk magical exhaustion, I bypassed the potions lab filled with ingredients and headed back to the study table.

That's right; the room provided ingredients, all under a stasis spell. According to the information provided in the room, this spell renders the target immune to the effects of time.

However, the consumption of magical units varies based on the target's nature. A piece of wood requires 1 unit, while a pizza demands 5 units. For living beings, the consumption increases exponentially.

Saint Mungo's is famous because it exists on a minor Leyline and is dedicated to creating ward stones to anchor the stasis spell. As long as a person is alive upon reaching Saint Mungo's, they are guaranteed to remain alive, offering hope for treatment. However, the exorbitant prices for stasis can only be afforded by a select few.

My desire for more knowledge was interrupted by a rumble in my stomach. While the room couldn't conjure food, it could contact those who could. After all, both the room and house-elves were symbiotic parts of Hogwarts.

[Ting. Ting.

House-elf: Symbiotic beings to witches and wizards or places of magic like Hogwarts, who seem to have talent in spades but can't produce their magic.

Hypothesis No. 42: House elves use the host's magic to perform their own. As symbiotic beings, they draw magic from the host, but their benefit to the host is questionable. Their enslavement is nothing but humans being humans.

I believe their true benefit lies in living hosts like wizards, helping in intent training by consuming their reserves to perform magic. After all, even if it's the house elves performing magic, it's still the host's magical reserves. That's why they are commodities of purebloods. Over time, the majority lost this information to the sands of time or had it erased.]

WHOOOSH

It was indeed erased. Now, I was sure of it. I present to you exhibit A.

A book on house elves that appeared before me, authored by Helga Hufflepuff.

One might expect to find books available throughout Hogwarts within the room, but that wasn't the case. It could only record information that wasn't enchanted—a necessary precaution against piracy.

I opened the book and began reading with keen interest, knowing it was authored by one of the founders, and, notably, one of the greatest healers in history.

Flipping through the pages, I sighed at the Old English text.

Here comes my cheat: AI translation. I was grateful for having uploaded the syntax of every language I could find.

[Translating...

Translation completed.]

Understanding English certainly expedited the comprehension of Old English. I really should learn more. Yep, the more knowledge I master, the faster-said knowledge is processed by AI.

[While travelling through Greece, I encountered a wounded wizard and a house-elf pair. It made me curious that healing the wizard not only benefited him but also freed up more of his magic for the house itself's use. The elf responded even better to my healing spell than the wizard did. This piqued my curiosity and prompted me to delve deeper into the matter...]

Where's the rest?

[Translation completed.]

Huh. A message appeared on the book cover.

Okay. AI, I choose you.

[Translation completed.]

[For one who comprehends the truth about house-elves magic, I have already provided the requirements to unlock the next pages.]

Barmy witches. Does every powerful person have a screw loose?

SQUEAK

I immediately rose and vented my frustration on the dummies. "Incendio!"

BOOOOOM

BOOOOM

Damn childish body, grow up already. Easily getting influenced by emotions is a pain in the ass, I whined out loud, "I want my self-control back."

==============================

After my outburst, I returned to my seat and reread the text like a good boy.

" .....the elf responded better to her healing magic than the wizard, despite the fact wizard and his House elf share the same magic."

Got it, perhaps it needs a House-Elf to continue. I need to bond with a house elf. I know how to obtain one discreetly.

"Any Hogwarts House Elf that can hear me, as long as you are willing, I am ready to take you into my service."

POP

"Jakrey is here, sir."

I beheld a young house-elf, reminiscent of Dobby but lacking his wrinkles.

"Let's get to the point. Jakrey, would you like to be my house elf?"

Jakrey's eyes widened with joy.

"Y-Yes, Jakrey wants to."

I felt a portion of my reserves being consumed by the bond, akin to a wand but in a different manner. It was an unusual sensation.

[A partial soul resonance has been detected between the house itself and the host.]

That explains the House Elf's control over my magic. They are like the wand in this regard.

[The elf's current reserves are being converted from the host's magic.]

[Current reserves: 40 L

Elf reserves: 5 L]

That's a daily consumption of 5 units, not to mention additional units consumed by the Elf during the magic casting. No wonder none of the pureblood kids have house-elves, it is too much of a drain on the reserves.

I summoned the book and handed it to the excited Jakrey.

"AI, ensure this is recorded," I instructed, wanting to document every aspect of our experimentation.

"Open it," I urged Jakrey.

Jakrey eagerly flipped through the pages, his eyes widening with anticipation. However, to our disappointment, nothing changed within the book.

"Try injecting magic into it," I suggested, curious to see if Jakrey's magical abilities would have any effect.

"Inject magic, sir," Jakrey responded dutifully, his tiny hands hovering over the book.

But, as expected, nothing changed. It seemed the book remained stubborn to Jakrey's attempts to infuse it with magic.

"It isn't that easy. Time to continue the experiments. Jakrey, let's start with spilling blood on it. A tiny nick on a finger will do."
