September 1st

King cross train station today seemed to buzz with life. People moving to and fro in a bustle as life moved.

Everybody seemed to be in a hurry. The clattering of suitcases and bags scuffing the floor resonated throughout the station as people frantically walked here and there.

Just then a car pulled up right outside the station. A pudgy heavy set man opened the car door and walked quickly to the back of the car.

Opening the trunk, the man pulled out a suitcase and carelessly threw it to the side of the curb.

With a clatter, the suitcase banged on the floor and the old clasp popped open, spilling an array of clothes on the ground.

Walking around, the man opened the back car door and angrily pulled a boy right out by the scruff of his tattered collar.

"Alright freak," the man said coldly, "time to finally be rid of you."

With disgust, the man tossed the boy towards the suitcase and without a backward glance closed the passenger door and re-entered his vehicle driving off.

The boy, now on the ground, without a word stood up and began sorting and arranging the garments back inside the suitcase.

The whole interaction was brief and disturbing, but the boy showed no emotion as he carried his luggage into the train station calmly.

Walking into the station, the boy first looked at a clock perched on a wall then eye'd the area.

Arriving at platform nine and ten after a while of walking, The boy went back and forth as though he was searching.

Pulling out a ticket, the boy briefly looked at it, looked back at the platform, then back at the ticket, and then back at the platform, then once more at the ticket, and then paused.

All of a sudden he quietly walked a distance away and sat calmly at one of the benches.

He seemed to be waiting.

His posture and emotions were relaxed. He showed not even a ripple of anxiety as he sat there for nearly fifteen minutes.

"Dad!" A young girl's voice, yelled out suddenly. "Hurry up! Hurry up!"

"Hermione! Wait for me and your mother!" A man replied, his tone both amused and a little irritated.

"Hurry up! Were going to be late!"

Hermione repeated. Her voice filled with happiness and impatience.

Just then, the boy could see a family of three walking down with a luggage cart.

Ahead the girl in a white tank-top and jean shorts ran gesturing with her arms to hurry with a wave.

Behind her he could see a man who wore a blue dress shirt with the arms rolled up to his forearms and a pair of khaki pants pushing the luggage cart with a woman who wore a white sundress beside him.

"John relax."

The woman beside the man said happily.

"She's just a little excited."

The woman squeezed the man's arm with a little hug as she jogged ahead towards her daughter with a bright smile.

Eyeing the pair ahead, the man pushed the cart a little faster to keep up.

"Dad! Hurr-"

"Coming!"

The boy quietly watched the family from his bench not missing a beat.

"We're finally here, now where's the entrance supposed to be again?"

The man asked curiously.

"Professor Mcgonagall said that platform nine and three quarters should be at this pillar in-between 9 and 10."

Hermione said easily her voice cheerful.

As if to confirm her words the woman slid her hand at the concrete wall watching it vanish beneath on contact with a bit of disbelief.

"Amazing! My hand literally went through John."

"Mary careful," the man began his tone worried and startled.

"It's alright." The woman grinned. "It's... magic!"

The woman pulled her hands out, then passed it through the wall again. After this, she turned to her daughter who was practically dancing on the spot to jump in.

"In we go Hermione."

The girl needed no more. She grabbed her mothers arm and with no hesitation sprinted in tugging her mother, who cringed at the last moment, in with her.

The man, still pushing the luggage cart, hesitantly pushed the cart through then very very slowly followed.

The boy thoughtfully watched them go inside and after a while got up and walked towards the wall taking his luggage with him.

He indifferently passed through the barrier not displaying any discomfort as he strolled through as natural as if he'd done it a thousand times.

Displayed in front of him was a majestic train unlike any other. Families milled around saying goodbye's and farewells.

Excited yells and chatter could be heard. As well as the hissing and rumbling of the train expelling steam.

To Harry it was all background music. A symphony of sounds that bombarded him, but couldn't overwhelm.

It was a new beginning. Same as any other.
