39 Experiments and doubts.

Adam didn't plan on doing anything about the secret chamber just yet. He would let Tom use Ginny and attack Muggle-borns, he would let history take its course until little Tom was discarded.

When everything was as it should be, he would make a move and enter the secret chamber.

While that didn't happen, Adam would continue his training, and start the club's activities.

First, Adam returned to his normal activities, training, studying, and testing new Runes.

He prepared some ideas of what to teach future members first and continued his study on water.

But there was a new activity in his daily life, studying envy.

It was night, and Adam was in the requirements room. I'd rather be in the club's requirements room for more exclusive activities.

And studying a living feeling was indeed one of those activities.

Today, Adam wanted to test a few things.

Inside his mind, he faced the barrier that trapped envy.

''Can you devour any feeling?'' he muttered doubtfully.

He couldn't wait for envy to answer him, so he needed to test.

''Okay, I've seen him devour negative feelings, now I need to see if he can devour positive ones too''

With that decision, Adam took a shard of happiness from one of his memories and placed it inside the barrier.

Envy reacted instantly, taking over happiness.

The feeling of happiness was just a miserable fragment. He was like an insect in the face of envy.

When envy touched happiness, it didn't immediately devour it. First, he circled him and hit him with thrusts.

Every contact that envy had with happiness, happiness lost its color, becoming more and more like envy.

It was a corruption process, and after a few seconds, happiness had been subsisted, by remnants of a corrupted fragment.

Envy devoured him and grew stronger.

''So it can run through good feelings, and feed off of them…'' Adam said.

Hearing his own words reminded him of what he saw in Ron's mind.

Nothing but envy.

Now he could understand, where any other good feeling had gone…

Adam sighed, thinking of Ron….

But he shook his head, leaving that for later, and turned his attention to envy.

''You had my curiosity, now you have my attention,'' he said, smiling, a gleam of interest in his eyes.

''If you can devour feelings even without absorbing pure magic, what can you do after you take your complete form? ''

Adam took a deep breath, a few guesses coming to mind. I wanted to give more pure magic and feelings to Envy, and see what it would become. But he dismissed that idea the next moment.

At least, for now, it wouldn't go that far. First, he needed to do more tests, dam was not new to trying new things, which were not in the books. In tests, experiments, and a lot of notes, it was essential not to take unnecessary risks.

''I guess we can start playing then''

With a wave, new barriers formed around the existing barrier.

Adam wouldn't risk it, strengthen something inside his mind without protection.

So Adam began a series of tests and studies on envy.

For the next few days, every night, he would come to the requirements room and take new tests.

During the day, he made adjustments in the clubroom, attended his classes, and played with Terry and Anthony.

Because he hadn't slept much the last few days, he took the opportunity to take a few naps in Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Lockhart didn't even notice.

So September is gone, and October is here.

Weeks after weeks of testing, Adam finally had solid progress and logical notes.

That night, I was once again in the requirements room.

In the middle of the room, a handsome young man sat cross-legged, shirtless.

He appeared to be in a peaceful state, although, in his mind, tests were taking place.

Adam was facing the barrier where envy was trapped.

''Test number four - May devour any other feeling, but seems to prefer negative feelings''

''Test number nine - It can corrupt any other feeling, even the good ones. If the good feeling is very strong, the corruption process may take time''

''Test number thirteen - Pure magic serves as energy, but does not replace the need to feed.''

''Test number thirty-four - The more it absorbs my pure magic, the more it obeys my commands''

''Test number forty-five - Pure magic and strong enough negative feelings are necessary for evolution.'''

''You doubt :

What will it become?

How smart will you be?

Can you devour more than feelings?

If I don't have intelligence, can I teach?

If I don't have a conscience, can I create one?

Can I put it in a physical body?

''

Adam put away the results of the last test and his doubts and looked back at Envy.

The shadow now did not move. Which was surprising considering there were fragments of feelings within the barrier.

''You can eat now,'' Adam said, and as if waiting for permission, envy devoured the shard of feeling.

''Good boy'' Adam chuckled, and threw another shard, almost as if he treated envy like a pet.

This was a recurring scene over the last few days. Adam injected his magic into his feelings every time he gave them to envy to devour, and little by little the sphere of darkness became more submissive.

Adam searched books and revisited his collection, but found nothing about physical manifestation or anything on that level of feelings.

Which led him to believe it was a new area of magic.

''I think the feelings can only get so strong in some people, only people who have sunk into a specific feeling.''

Adam used his feelings to use magic a long time ago. He absorbed other feelings, from other people, and strengthened his own.

Anger, hate, desire, determination, sadness, happiness.

That existed within him, were frightening, but at no time did they take shape, or show a great difference from the others.

That's why Adam came to the conclusion that feelings needed to be cultivated, in a weak mind.

Of course, it was just speculation if he still couldn't spike. But he believed he was almost right.

''Ron, I was being controlled by envy. His mind had only envious thoughts. A child of twelve, your mind weak, and steeped in sheer envy, forgetting to do your part to change it.

Adam entered the minds of two Weasley, Ron and Fred. Both came from the same family, and although one was older, it was not reason enough for such different minds.

Fred was good and brave, he tried to help, to improve, to do what he could to change his position.

Ron, gave up, surrendered to envy, did not look at himself, and sought to improve. He was just looking for excuses to complain and keep complaining about not having what others had. It made him, being nothing but a mind, fall into envy.

Adam could allow himself to enter a state by taking in his feelings, but it was with the will to let that feeling control his spells, increasing their strength and efficiency. The stronger the feeling was, the stronger Adam was.

What was different from Ron, whose mind was passively taken over by a feeling?

Maybe if Ron didn't conventionally use magic, just with envy, he could do amazing things.

But here comes the main point, if Ron became powerful, would his envy still be as strong?

The answer was no.

But when Adam entered the equation with his pure magic, things changed a bit.

In Ron, the feeling was strong and frightening.

So when that feeling came into contact with Adam's pure magic, it was like it became something bigger.

Envy, even now without its evolved form, was still much more than a simple feeling.

''Can other feelings also become this? The good and the bad?'' Adam muttered.

''Envy grew in a weak mind, so the other negative feelings must be the same, which shouldn't be too hard to find.''

Adam believed there would be many more like Ron out there.

Finding darkness in the world wasn't difficult.

Finding minds taken by darkness would not be difficult.

So looking for negative feelings should be an easy task.

The real problem was finding good feelings.

''Where can I find a pure person? ''Adam laughed.

In that world, even children were not pure. How difficult would it be to find someone whose mind was pure kindness?

Adam believed that finding good people would not be difficult. But meeting genuinely good people does.

Envy only grew in Ron, because his mind had only that. Ron had a weak mind being dominated, continuing to cultivate envy.

If the same logic were used for kindness, it would be hard to find someone with such high standards.

''To have gluttony, lust, laziness, or envy. It can be something passive, after the seed is planted, the person would not need to continue practicing the sins, just allow it to continue the same.

But was this possible for goodness and virtue? ''

Adam doubted that.

''Practicing kindness is something active, one needs to continue voluntarily doing good, helping others, and becoming satisfied with oneself… How difficult can that be? ''

''Looks like I'm going to need to think differently if I want to get good feelings…''

Adam sighed, if he had the choice, he didn't want to find out what envy would become, before making a roll with a good feeling.

If I were to choose a being made of feelings free in the world, I would prefer one made of kindness.

''Well… I'll think about what to do next. '' He shook his head, it was a choice he should think about before acting.

''Tomorrow will be the club's first meeting…'' Adam sighed, he was slightly anxious, and happy.

This week he warned Harry Hermione Isabella, Terry, and Anthony that tomorrow is Sunday. They would have their first group meeting.

Adam left Ron out, he still needed to decide what he was going to do with the redhead, he had an idea in mind, but he hadn't decided yet.

''Should I help Ron or not?'' Adam muttered

He didn't feel any strong feelings for Ron.

Ron was a member of the golden trio, and Adam was a fan of the Harry Potter book series. For that reason, he even had a certain fondness for Ron.

Although he didn't think he deserved Hermione, and that Ron deserved to be punched a few times in the books, he didn't hate him.

But before, Ron was just a character, what Adam thought or didn't think of him didn't matter.

But now, Ron was a real person, a twelve-year-old. Someone with feelings, fears, and dreams.

Adam didn't know if he could turn his back on him.

''I have the power to change your mind, I can give you a new start...''

He would think about it tonight, and tomorrow he would decide.

Chapters can be short because I still need to think about how I'm going to do the first Inheritance.

Doubt: I know many of you don't like Ron, and I don't either.

But I still plan to help him, Adam can benefit from that too.

As punishment for the envious Weasley, I will leave him without Hermione or any other girlfriends.

And maybe teach him a lesson, how to make him cry or scare him to death so he'll mature.

Next chapter will be the first meeting of the Group. I haven't thought of the names yet, but I liked some of the last comment I asked for suggestions.

So, once again I ask for name suggestions, and a symbol or something to characterize them as members.

Another question, some people asked about Patreon. But I confess I never thought about it. Would anyone really pay to have more chapters?
