A Journey to Diagon Alley

Adrian stood in the grand foyer, adjusting the clasp on his traveling cloak. Today was an exciting day. It was Adrian's first real trip to Diagon Alley and it was to gather supplies for Hogwarts.

He wasn't going all alone though. Evanna, who had been excited all morning, bounded down the staircase with her dark brown hair tied in a neat braid. At thirteen, she had an aura that made her stand out even among other Slytherins. Her green and silver scarf, draped loosely over her shoulders, hinted at her house pride.

"Ready?" she asked,

"Of course?" Adrian replied enthusiastically

Evanna grinned and said "You're going to love Diagon Alley. It's always busy and always buzzing. You might even make some friends ,assuming you don't scare them off with your usual brooding."

"I don't brood," Adrian said, fastening his cloak.

"Oh, you absolutely do my adorable little brother," she teased, grabbing his cloak while pulling him towards the door. "Come on, little brother, let's get you going."

Well that was how Adrian's sister was, cheerful and kind. Soon, they arrived at the fireplace as there house elf Tizzy stood holding a small pouch of Floo Powder. "Safe travels my masters. Off to Diagon Alley you both go," the elf said while bowing low.

"Leaky Cauldron" a swish was heard

The bustling noise of the Leaky Cauldron hit them as soon as they arrived. The inn was particularly crowded today as they headed off and soon, they arrived at a dead end. With a tap of her wand, Evanna opened the hidden brick wall, revealing the cobbled streets beyond.

Adrian couldn't hide his amazement even though he had seen this in the movies before. He had stepped into the heart of wizarding commerce. The narrow street was alive with magic brooms which hovered in shop windows. There were enchanted quills which wrote by themselves, and the scent of fresh parchment mingled with the sweetness of cauldron cakes from a nearby vendor.

"I know what you are experiencing. That was my reaction as well when I first saw this place." said Evanna with an amused expression

He nodded. "Well it's different from from quite and stern atmosphere at home. A breath of fresh air."

Evanna's smiled and said . "Come on, let's start with the essentials. You need a wand and Ollivanders is the best place for the job."

When they arrived, Ollivanders was quieter than they had expected. There was a faint hum of magic in the air as they stepped inside. The rows on the walls were lined with countless boxes, each one containing a different wand.

"Ah, Miss Blackthorn," came a familiar voice. Garrick Ollivander stepped from the shadows, his pale eyes twinkling. "Always a pleasure to see a Slytherin star pupil. I trust your wand is serving you well?"

"Perfectly, Mr. Ollivander," Evanna replied, flashing a charming smile. "My brother needs one now."

"Ah, young Adrian," Ollivander said, his gaze settling on him with unnerving intensity. "Let's find something suitable for you, shall we?"

The process was as chaotic as it was fascinating. Wand after wand flew into Adrian's hand, only to fail repeatedly.

Finally, Ollivander handed him a wand of dark wood, its polished surface gleaming in the soft light. "Ebony, twelve and a quarter inches, phoenix feather core. Flexible. Try this."

As soon as Adrian took it, a warm surge of energy coursed through him as a golden glow radiated from the tip. He suddenly felt a sense of connection and satisfaction.

"Ah," Ollivander said with a hint of satisfaction in his tone. "A wand for one who seeks to shape his destiny. Ebony is ideal for those with strength and character. Well the phoenix feather, it can be unpredictable yet, it undoubtedly has the highest potential . You are destined for greatness. What an unique combination !."

Evanna looked at Adrian. "Looks like you've got a perfect match."

Adrian nodded, his fingers tightening around his new companion.

They stepped back into the bustling alley as Evanna led the way toward Madam Malkin's robes. As soon as they entered the shop, Adrian noticed a girl about his age standing on a stool, being fitted for her Hogwarts uniform.

She was short girl with bushy brown hair who had an air of nervous excitement.

"Oh!" the girl exclaimed, her eyes lighting up when she saw them. "Are you getting your Hogwarts robes too?"

Adrian nodded, glancing at Evanna, who smiled warmly at the girl.

"First year?" Evanna asked, her tone friendly.

"Yes," the girl said eagerly. "I'm Hermione Granger. You?"

"Adrian Blackthorn," he replied, offering a small smile.

"And I'm Evanna, Adrian's sister," she said, stepping forward. "Third year, Slytherin and I take it you're Muggle-born?"

Hermione blinked in surprise but nodded. "Yes! How did you know?"

Evanna chuckled. "Just a hunch. You seem... pretty new to all this. Don't worry, Hogwarts is incredible. It full of magical mysteries and i'm sure you'll love it."

Hermione relaxed. "Thank you. I've been reading every book I could find about the magical world yet, it's still overwhelming."

Evanna behaved politely although, a flicker of something sharper crossed her eyes. "Sounds like you'll do well in Ravenclaw though, I suggest that you don't rule out Gryffindor or even Slytherin. You never really know where you'll get sorted into. The Sorting Hat is quite unpredictable yet discerning, even if it just sits in the principal's office all day long."

Hermione tilted her head in with some confusion as she missed the subtle barb.

"If you ever need help at Hogwarts, don't hesitate to find me," she added with her friendly tone.

Hermione beamed. "Thank you. That's so kind of you."

Adrian watched the exchange while noting how easily Evanna balanced warmth with superiority. She left Hermione feeling reassured yet subtly reminded of her inexperience. It wasn't done in an over the top manner however, Adrian still saw the the sense of pureblood supremacy.

Soon they left the shop with a few brand new pairs of custom designed uniforms that had the exquisitely engraved Blackthorn family crest on them.

"She's enthusiastic," Adrian said as they walked toward Flourish and Blotts.

"She's bright," Evanna corrected as her tone became slightly light. "A bit out of her depth, yet, that's to be expected. Those muggle borns often need time to adjust. Still with the right guidance, she might surprise everyone."

Adrian said nothing however, he understood what she meant. Evanna had her charm yet, there always remained a calculation behind it. The calculation which was rooted in every purebloods family's tradition since birth. If the Statute of Secrecy ever will be lifted, wizards had to change their mindset, he thought.
