13 The Marauder's Map

The story progress as I imagined, Harry, Ron, Hermione will go to duel Draco tonight;

Well, it doesn't concern me, as I ate my dinner.

As for the stone, it will only happen in the second semester after Dumbledore leaving the castle. Though allure for immortality is extremely tempting, to steal the stone when there are two great wizards after it is suicidal.

Taking the stone for myself, from the eyes of Voldemort and Dumbledore is nigh impossible, I need to come up with a plan using Harry potter as a diversion and steal the stone stealthily as possible.

I got time in my hand, the stone will be sitting in the mirror for another few months. I don't know if I can even take the stone from the Mirror of Erised. The Mirror of Erised is a magical mirror, which shows the "deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts".

Upon looking into it, Harry saw his late parents, Lily and James Potter.

However, Ron saw himself as the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain and Head Boy, holding up the Quidditch Cup.

Dumbledore claimed to see himself holding a pair of thick, woollen socks, telling Harry, "One can never have enough socks."

If this had been true, it would suggest that Dumbledore was so content with life. However, Dumbledore was lying, For a long time, Dumbledore's greatest desire was to be with his former lover, Gellert Grindelwald, and his guilt over his sister's death.

But of course, it is intrinsically inherent for human nature to desire something greater than one's self. That's what worried me, the most. If I saw myself being the strongest wizard, it only boosts my ego. I will become complacent of my growth, and it becomes detrimental for my plans.

Dumbledore also placed an enchantment on the mirror, hiding the stone inside of it, and allowing the mirror to transfer the stone only to one who wanted to find the stone but not to use it. Anybody wishing more than simply find it would see themselves.

If anyone had desired of wanting to use, the stone would only find themselves looking in the mirror.

Only those have the greatest wish of finding the stone would, but not use it, would have their wish granted.

Since I wished to use the stone, I cannot take it out of the mirror myself.

I need to come up with a plan to take the stone out of the mirror, as I finished my dinner and made my way to Madam Pomfrey's office.

There's Neville who is in the Madam Pomfrey office, for treatment of his broken arm. I had an impression of Neville from the movies, he's a timid little fellow who grew into strong and loyal wizards. He stayed loyal to Harry Potter even after Bellatrix tortured him, with multiple Cruciatus curses.

I made my way into the infirmary, Nevllie who had his right arm fixed lays in the bed. I'd say he's an acquaintance I made all during those parties. I haven't met with him in Hogwarts, after all, he is in Gryffindor, and I am in Slytherin, considering our house rivalry, if we sometimes met, it would only cause trouble for Neville.

Neville Longbottom is the heir of the Longbottom family, though now he is a timid and shuttering idiot, he will take over the Longbottom family from his grandmother Agusta Longbottom

"Hey, Neville, it seems you got your arm fixed?" I drew his attention.

"Ah. It's you, Jason, Madam Pomfrey, potions are magical, it fixed my arm in minutes, and took all the pain" adjusting his potion on the bed, Neville answered.

"Don't you know who made those potions you drank, ?" I asked with an intrigued expression on my face.

"Madam Pomfrey?" Said Neville.

"It's Snape, all the potions sold in Hogwarts are made by him, he also supplies the potion for madam Pomfrey" I explained to him.

"How do you know all this?" Nellie questioned me.

"You remember that on the first day I answered snape questions, he said I might have some potioning skill and asked if I was willing to take private lessons from him"

"I pity you, Jason, you have to keep up with him even after the classes"

"Snape isn't like that to anyone but Gryffindors, I heard he privately thought many Slytherin's students in advanced potioning."

"I don't know how he teaches the Slytherin students, he always picks on Harry and me" Nellie complained.

"Hey when you fell, from your broomstick your Remembrall also fell on the ground, I think Harry has it now" I changed the topic from snape. Since I know, Snape will continue bullying Harry Potter even if he did well in potions.

"Thanks, Jason, Gran gifted to me"

"Mmm, so when will you be leaving this place, since your arm is fixed and all," I asked.

"Madam Pomfrey said I can leave before the curfew"

"Then I will take my leave, now Neville," I said my goodbye and left him in the infirmary.

My movement within Hogwarts is extremely limited, for not wanting to attract any attention.

Hogwarts castle is filled with a portrait of old professors and headmasters. These portraits are made by using magic and the consciousness of the person when they are alive.

In every corner of the castle, there's very much likely a portrait is present. Since they are made up of consciousness they can interact with people. They also keep an eye on everyone inside the castle.

These portraits can move from one picture frame to another. So a person in these portraits can follow people. It can also be used to spy on people. When these portraits find anyone suspicious, they usually keep an eye on them and observe them.

I even spotted two to three portraits keeping their eye on me, even with my cautious nature it starts to get on my nerves. With Constantly keeping myself vigilant against everything, every minute of my time in Hogwarts.

At first, I thought it was like a good exercise to keep myself aware of my surroundings, but it became harder to be constantly vigilant as time flew. It exhausts me mentally to be no constant lookout.

I need to get my hands on the Marauder's Map to make sure that I am safe from any kind of surveillance, be it people, portraits, or even ghosts.

The Marauder's Map was a magical map that revealed all of Hogwarts. Not only did it show every classroom, every hallway, and every corner of the castle, but it also showed every inch of the grounds, as well as all the secret passages that were hidden within its walls and the location of every person in the grounds, portrayed by a dot.

The map also shows how to get access to the sealed passages by showing the password required to unseal it. More importantly, the map shows the name and location of every person within the Hogwarts grounds, even if they are wearing an Invisibility cloak, transformed animagi, or under the influence of the Polyjuice Potion

One of the map's possible flaws was that it did not differentiate people who had matching names. Also, it did not seem to show unplottable rooms, such as the Room of Requirement, The Chamber of Secrets has not revealed the existence and location.

They never appeared on the map either because the creators never knew of it or it was unplottable as well,

It is just a well-drawn map of the castle on parchment and magically enhanced by Homonculous Charm.

The Homonculous Charm, when cast onto a map, would enable its possessor to track the movements of every person in the mapped area, through labelled dots that moved around the parchment.

The Marauder's Map was created by Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black, and James Potter while they were attending Hogwarts. The four created the map to track the movements of everyone in the castle. The ability of Sirius, Peter, and James to become Animagi enabled them to explore the castle grounds by night undetected. The interior of the castle, meanwhile, was mapped over time with the help of James's Invisibility Cloak.

In Harry Potter's third year at Hogwarts, Fred and George gave him the map.

I need to take a look at the map, the Weasley's twin will not give me the chance since I'm a Slytherin. My only option is to steal it myself. Though the maps were likely drawn fifteen years ago, if I knew the content of the map, I can draw another one for myself and cast a Homonculous Charm in it.

I can also improve the function of the map, like alerting when someone approached me in a certain distance or marking a zone to surveillance for any intruders. There are So many functions can be added in the map which will aid me in the future.
