Chapter 81: Chaos in the hall

"Gryffindor... minus... two hundred points" Lockhart's face was completely red with anger, William could say a thousand and one things to confront his new professor, but he just shook his head.

He only had to see Lockhart's reactions to know that he was a failure as a teacher, let alone as a wizard. Truth be told, although he could still faintly remember the official story, he had hoped things would be different, unfortunately even that hope was snatched away from him.

"Do you have anything else to say, Mr. Rosier?" asked Lockhart arranging his clothes and hastily combing his hair.

William in front of him only raised his shoulders as a symbol of ignorance, the surrounding students were attentive to what was going on. The Slytherin were happy and the Griffindor were annoyed, never had so many points been lost in a single moment.

When Lockhart took a few steps away, Parvati approached him slightly and said in a low voice, "Why did you do that?"

"What did I do?"

"Argue with the professor, you know he's a skilled wizard, and he looked very upset, you might even have been in trouble."

William glared at Parvati "Do you have to be joking..... How could you possibly think he's an expert, really?"

"Everyone knows, it's all in his books, and apparently you still don't read any of them" Parvati pointed to a book.

William shook his head and started writing on the exam parchment, Lockhart was an idiot, but he still had to finish his student homework.

Then finally all the exam papers were delivered into the hands of the new professor, who loudly reviewed some of the papers, praising the most flattering answers to his person. Who took the prize for number one flatterer was none other than Hermione Granger as she wrote down Lockhart's favorite color as well as his greatest secret ambition.

As she flipped through the pages with the quizzes, she focused on one, then looked at the student in question. Everyone noticed who owned that exam, William, on the other hand, remained calm, even though he knew it was his exam in question.

"What is Lockhart's greatest ambition?" the professor asked aloud "Miss Granger was incredibly detailed in the answer and although this answer is not the one sought, neither can we consider it a mistake. Writing a good book is one of my ambitions, I am always looking to improve when I write a book."

William heard the small giggles between the young wizards and could feel Hermione's piercing gaze, she really is a fan of Lockhart, there is no doubt about the above.

"Did you have to do it, was it necessary?" Parvati asked next to him.

"Absolutely necessary" he replied without hesitation.

Lockhart clapped his hands twice so that the attention of all the students was focused on himself, "Alright class, let's put the feathers aside. Now let's move on to the practical part of the class" he placed his hands on a blanket that apparently covered a cage, then with a single tug he removed the blanket.

"Cornish goblins?" asked Seamus Finigan from another stall with a smile on his face, for the young wizard it was almost a joke.

"Yes, Cornish pixies, little pixies captured very recently and eager to get out" laughed Lockhart proudly.

Inside the cage that was usually used to keep the birds locked up, there were now small blue colored humanoids, there were at least two dozen of these humanoids inside the cage. The laughter and screams of these creatures echoed throughout the classroom, some of these creatures had wings on their backs, others did not, but according to William's studies these goblins can fly simply by using magic.

"Now we are going to have a practical class. Mr. Finnigan thinks all these goblins are a joke so let's see how you all do... capturing them" Lockhart opened the cage for all the goblins to come out.

Once the cage was open, the goblins darted out. The youngsters in the classroom saw them come out, the goblins began to wreak havoc all over the classroom, they tore books and parchment. Some of the students wanted to defend themselves and pulled out their wands, but the goblins were not easy prey for the children, they snatched the wands of some, others were able to retreat, but the less fortunate ones received attacks from other children.

Neville was grabbed by the ears by two goblins and lifted into the air, but then both goblins were hit by the petrifying curse.

"These things are annoying, no teacher in their right mind would release goblins in their first class. Worthy of a failure" mentioned William, then picking up some goblins and stuffing them in his bag, "I just hope they don't die in there."

"Thanks Will, you saved me" Neville stood up, "what are we going to do now?"

"I have no idea, I have to go back to common room, class is over. Besides all these things are not our responsibility, on the contrary, we shouldn't be in this trouble, the best idea is to leave the work for our genius professor" William gathered his belongings and walked towards the door while using his wand to keep at bay any goblin that came near to bother him.

Harry and his friends only watched as William walked out the door with Neville in utmost tranquility.

"I told you Harry, what appeared in the paper must just be an act, no one in the Rosier family can turn good overnight, he even left us here to our own devices" complained Ron as he took cover under the table.

"It's not like that Ron, it's just... it's different" Hermione said quietly, she wanted to say more, but William's actions weren't much help.

"That doesn't matter now, let's just get rid of this stuff, I don't want this to go on into more trouble."
