23 Chapter 23: Plans begin

When the duo returned to the common room the whole atmosphere was full of laughter and conversations, even Hermione was friends with some girls and some students but William on the contrary just walked towards the dormitories without talking to anyone, everyone was moving around avoiding running into the white-haired boy, then Hermione remembered what William's brothers said.

Hermione took a step forward to talk to William but he had already disappeared as if there was no one around, basically a lone lion.

"Hermione were you with Rosier?" asked Ron coming up next to Harry.

"Yes" replied the girl dryly "he was teaching me in the library."

"A Rosier teaching a muggle born girl?" asked Percy surprised who had heard Hermione's words "The world is changing."

"Hermione are you sure he didn't hex you or cast a curse on you?" asked Ron concerned looking at his friend closely "you can't trust a Rosier, even if he appears to have good intentions in the end he's just a Slytherin at heart, everyone knows that" the surrounding students nodded at what Ron said.

"Don't be fooled Hermione, the Rosier's are good with words, everyone in the magical world knows it" Percy put his hand on his shoulder delivering a piece of advice to Hermione "I was fooled by his older sister, Lesley Rosier. And my brother Bill was fooled by Abbey Rosier, my father Arthur was also fooled by Evan Rosier, William's father. In short don't trust the Rosiers, they are even more treacherous than the Malfoy's."

Hermione didn't want to believe the words of her companions but all the elders had similar testimonies, even if she wanted to defend William it seemed impossible considering the reputation of William's brothers. She finally fell silent and let everyone follow her comments but those boys didn't know that William was listening on the second floor.

"I don't think you are a bad person William, you helped me find my toad Trevor and you stopped the canes from falling on me on the first day" Neville said from one of the beds near William making William smile almost amused.

"Thank you Neville, it means a lot to me."

"Anytime" that innocent little boy spoke the truth always and even when he seemed to be weaker than the others in the end he was the bravest of them all.

The next morning William got out of bed early in the morning, did some exercise and took a shower, nothing out of the routine. Breakfast in the great dining room awaited him and thanks to his simple spells he managed to transform milk into coffee, not that he despised milk but coffee was his true companion in a lifetime, so why not twice?

That day William could feel the gaze of the students on him but they were different from the usual ones that is to say, they were not friendly but they were weird as if they were talking behind his back.

Hermione who was far away on the other side of the table knew what happened and why everyone was talking about William, I mean all of Hogwarts knows about the comment except William himself who has no contact with anyone.

"How can you talk about William like that?" asked Hermione looking around at everyone around her "It's complete hypocrisy on behalf of our house of studies."

"Are you blind Hermione?" asked Ron hearing his classmate's comments.

"William fought Quinrrell hand to hand in a spell we were beginning to study, it's obvious he used dark magic to win the duel, it's obvious after all he is a wizard of the Rosier family"

"can't a Rosier be good?" asked Hermione looking at her two companions "I don't know much about William but I do know for sure that the use of dark magic is simply a lie, a deception. William uses ordinary magic, the fact is he mixes muggle research with magic."

"Do you have evidence to prove what he says is true?" asked Ron "The three of us witnessed how he finished off the Troll, no Winwardium Leviosa is capable of doing that, even for Professor Flitwick it is impossible to recreate the spell"

"They're just different perspectives" Hermione muttered watching William in the distance.

Classes continued as normal, in Potions class it was Professor Severus Snape who praised William when he successfully prepared the position he had earlier pointed out to Cho Chang in the library, obviously Snape was not happy with the fact that he was a Gryffindor.

In the Defense Against the Dark Arts classes there was not a single comment regarding the previous duel, Quinrrell did not bother William and the latter did not make any risky moves, his chance to unmask Voldemort was gone, trying again would only be tempting fate.

William still had doubts about the things he might do in the future, considering he was part of the Rosier family it was inevitable that he would be part of Voldemort's little ruse in the future, at least if he did nothing. He had two options in mind, join the order of the phoenix or escape to the other side of the world and wait until the storm passes, the last option was really tempting but William wanted to keep practicing magic and learn a lot more, he was slowly getting hungrier for knowledge.

Running away was not an option and joining the order of the phoenix would be ridiculous with his identity, he had only one option left. Becoming strong by his own means but it seemed unrealistic considering his chances, he had to identify a better plan while advancing the plot of the original story.
