17 Chapter 17: The Egg Creature

William did not pay attention to the looks of the people, he did not really care about them, now he had something more important in his hands and it was none other than the egg in his hands.

Without stopping his steps he left the castle grounds and headed towards the only person who could help him with his problem, he needed the help of a specialist in the subject and there was one person in his mind, Rubeus Hagrid.

Hagrid right now was the Hogwarts warden and it wouldn't be for another two years when he would be able to enjoy the prestige of being the professor in charge of the magical creature care class.

As a future professor of magical creature care he had a lot of experience regarding the subject, William made his way to the half-giant's hut, a rather humble wooden hut with a pumpkin garden in front of it.

William knocked loudly on the door, he took two breaths waiting until when the door finally opened revealing the figure of the half-giant "who are you?"

"Hello, I'm William Rosier" William introduced himself fearlessly making Hagrid startle just hearing his last name.

"Rosier?!"

"Yes, my last name is quite famous" William rubbed his neck uncomfortably "and in a bad way."

Hagrid looked up at the sky and sighed "You don't have to tell me anything about your family, what do you need from me?"

William could understand Hagrid's reaction, the half giant was a member of the order of the phoenix enemies of the Death Eaters, that is to say enemies of the Rosier family. Leaving all family matters behind William pulled out the egg that had come as a prize in the lottery, he didn't know how it was possible for an egg to be a prize but he wouldn't deny the opportunity to care for a magical beast either.

"This egg" William pointed out "what is the species of this egg?"

"By Merlin's beard!" exclaimed Hagrid in surprise "Where did you get this egg?"

"I got it for a lottery prize but it didn't say anything about its species, I thought you would know about its species since you are the Hogwarts ranger, I didn't want to go to the professor of magical creatures because they would snatch the egg from me if it became too dangerous" William decided to go the honest route, gaining the trust of this character would bring him many benefits in the future.

Hagrid sighed, looked at William and looked around "Come in, we'd better talk inside" following the giant's instructions he entered the hut with the egg close by "Have a seat".

William sat down in the chair and faced Hagrid who was still holding the egg in his hands "This egg belongs to a rather special species of magical creature, one classified as dangerous."

"So do you know what species it belongs to?" asked William impatiently.

"Do I?" asked Hagrid "Of course I do, it is one of the most impressive magical creatures of all, even its figure is at the entrance to Headmaster Albus Dumbledore's office"

"It's a Griffin?!" exclaimed William in surprise.

"Yes, I know it is impressive, even I am very impressed with this, I have never had the opportunity to raise a Griffin but if you want I can advise you regarding the subject, of course if you wish-"

"This is incredible" said William interrupting Hagrid as he looked at the egg carefully "A Griffin.... will be a huge responsibility considering that I probably won't be able to keep it inside the castle, if someone finds out the griffin would be in danger and at home.... no, my grandfather won't want to have a magical creature, I doubt he would want me in the castle now" Hagrid raised his eyebrows at William's comment, surprised at what he was hearing.

William out of nowhere turned around to look at Hagrid "I know this is a bit unfair and I may be abusing our short friendship but... would you help me take care of the Griffin?"

Once again Hagrid was surprised, it was the first time that a pureblood wizard like William asked him for a favor, he himself knew that these wizards were not what could be called friendly with his kind, the last time he met a similar wizard was Sirius Black who later became the Potter's traitor.

While he had no problem helping William he was hesitant to give support to a young man like this, he didn't want trouble with pureblood wizards but at the same time he was curious about griffins.

"Sigh..." sighed Hagrid closing his eyes as he made a decision "fine, I'll help you with everything for the griffin, until you can take care of it yourself."

"Thank you!" Smiled William pleased at the response obtained from the half-giant, he quickly took his leave to return to the castle with the egg in tow, now with a big goal in his mind. The more time he spent at Hogwarts the more things he learned and the more impressed he became, he now had the egg of a magical creature.
