5 Chapter-5: The Family’s inheritance

It's midnight. The full moon is shining brightly outside. Some of its light is entering a certain room through the window, falling on Theo's face.

It seems like he is looking outside, but his eyes are a little dull and his face is full of thoughts.

Suddenly a noise broke his thought. He looked in the direction of the from where the noise is coming.

There he saw a young house-elf putting a tray on a table and filling the glass with juice.

"Oh, it's you Tedo. Thanks for the juice."

"Anytime master. If master excuses, Tedo will take his leave. If master needs anything else just call out Tedo's name." said Tedo respectfully.

In fact, this house calls himself Tedo is assigned to Theo this morning. Tedo was excited to serve the young master personally.

It's a great honor for him. Today he accompanied Theo practically everywhere either directly or indirectly.

Seeing his master nodding, he immediately vanished from there.

Seeing him gone, Theo looked at the glass, hesitated a few moments before taking it, and had a few sips.

Again he went into deep thought. All he is thinking about the conversation with Grandpa Blake later this evening.

After coming to the villa this morning, Blake went out somewhere, and Theo went to his room to rest. Then during lunch, Lodi came and introduced Tedo to him.

With the company of Tedo, Theo looked around the house and the backyard, which was even larger than the front.

He went to places like the library, an indoor pool ( A/N: Yes, they had an indoor pool, a modern one at that. Blake is surprisingly modern unlike other rich people in the wizarding world), the garden of flowers, herbs, and trees both normal and magical, a tea house surrounding the flower garden, etc… passed the whole day.

But among all this Theo, definitely enjoyed the library. The place was massive and had a lot of books, both magical and mundane. He spent the rest of his day here reading books.

During the evening Blake came back. Both of them sit beside the fireplace and drank tea. A few moments later, Blake looked at Theo and asked,

"How was the day Theo?"

"It was great, Grandpa Blake." "I really liked the library though, it had so many books about magic and wizarding worlds' history."

"Ha…ha…ha… great…great. But they are nothing. The real books are on the upper floors I will show you later."

"Really…wicked."

"But for that, you have to work hard learning the basic first."

"I will work hard grandpa," said Theo determinedly.

"Good…good…I will look forward to it," said Blake being pleased. Suddenly his gaze becomes serious looked at Theo.

"Do you know why you are here?"

"Didn't you wrote in the letter? To get me familiar with magic and the wizarding world."

"Yes, it's one of the reasons. But there are others which I didn't write in the letter." "The main reason is our family inheritance?"

"Family inheritance!!?" said Theo surprised.

"According to our Augustus family custom, when a young wizard of our family's direct birth line who will compete for the family inheritance becomes eleven years old, he will slowly be introduced to the family's real status, inheritance, and legacies little by little until he is ready to become the head of the family.

The family's legacy and its power only be inherited by the head of the family.

Only then you will know the full extent of our family status and power is. But what you will learn before that is just basic that even the regular."

Blake paused for a while to take a sip from his cup then continued,

"The next head of the family is chosen either by competition between the family of the previous head and the heir, which is mainly a magic duel or the type chosen by the head. Or, the previous head simply chooses the next head from the heirs.

If there are none then it automatically goes to the branch family with the most power."

"So according to the system, your uncle or your cousin should get the inheritance.

But unfortunately, due to the first wizarding war, your uncle lost his life."

Blake paused yet again. But this time he gave a sad sigh. Looking at the melancholic look at his grandpa's face, Theo put his hand on Blake's shoulder and said,

"I am sorry Grandpa."

Blake smiled in response and said,

"You are a good child Theodore. I am fine now, but where was I... Oh yes...

As he didn't marry, so he didn't have any kids. So, you can understand that there is no successor to the inheritance.

"So, I was very much troubled about it over the years as my day is shortened.

So, finding you were magical brought huge relief and hope for me."

"Don't tell me grandpa… are you trying to give the family inheritance to me…"

This time Theo was truly shocked.

He in his dream, he never thought he will face such a day in his life.

He became so shocked that he didn't know when he stood up. Seeing his reaction Blake laughed,

"Ha…ha….ha… right you are a kid. But hold your horses' kid. It is never easy. The inheritance of this family is divided into two standards and hidden.

The last time someone ever got hold of the hidden inheritance was 9 generations back since then nobody could. And as for how to get it, you have to get standard one first."

Then he paused for a moment to build up atmosphere and said Blake smiling cunningly and having evil eyes,

"But to get the standard inheritance and the seat of the head of the family, you need to pass a test of my choosing."

Hearing that Theo sobered up.

"That's right, there is no free money in the world." He thought.

After that, he calmly sat down the chair again deep in thought because such power will also come with great responsibility.

Thinking about here, Theo started to hesitate. Seeing him like this Blake gave him a cue.

"Take your time young man. Think carefully today and tomorrow give me an answer.

If you don't want to take the inheritance nobody will force you to take it. But in that case, the inheritance will fall at the hand of the other branch families."

"Let me remind you that not all branch family is good. You have a brief idea about history, so you should know."

This world kept on playing all night in Theo's head. Finally, he came to a decision.

On the next morning, both Blake and Theo eating their breakfast silently. After some time has passed, Theo looked at Blake with determined eyes.

"Grandpa I am ready to face the test."

"Ha…ha…ha… boy great... great…" said Blake pleasantly happy.

"Really boy you made the best choice in your life. My test is all but simple. All you have to do is follow all my tasks, and before you graduate from Hogwarts, you have to have a duel with me and have to hold for at least a minute."

Hearing him Theo smiled bitterly.

After all his Grandpa is a powerful wizard. He got the idea after observing him for a while and talking to a few house-elves.

But he is more than ready to take the challenge.

Truth to be told, his blood is boiling thinking of a duel between him and his Grandpa.

Seeing his competitive spirit, Blake is more than happy.

After all, the boy has talent and potential. A real rough diamond ready to be shaped.

"Ok boy, finish your breakfast and come with me. Starting today your magic practice begins."

After finishing breakfast both of them went to the living room.

Blake started to instruct Theo about his schedules for magic practice.

"Before any lessons or practice, it is necessary to make a schedule.

So I will divide your practice routine.

At morning is conjuring practice, evening potions and at night study magical theory."

"First of all before learning any magic one has to know the theory behind it.

By understanding theory, a person can have a better understanding of magic. Then he can cast more refine and faster magic spells. That's what Hogwarts will teach you, but it doesn't hurt you to learn more. The more you learn, the better you will get.

Besides that, a good foundation in magical theory can help you even to make your own magic.

More importantly, all ways remember, learn to cast more, and practice to cast faster. This is the main motto to become a powerful wizard.

Besides this, I will also teach you how to find a balance between learning and practicing magic.

Responsibilities that come with knowing magic, boundaries of magic that you should have an idea of.

And how to adapt to this magical world, and how to cast magic without letting mundane know about it. Understood."

Hearing Blake, Theo nodded.

"Good now follow me outside," said Blake satisfied.
