2 Chapter-2: The Diagon Alley

The next day during breakfast, the Augustus family is happily having breakfast and chatting with each other. Unlike other families, this family gives less attention to table manners at home. Although they showcase the perfect manners of aristocrats outside.

"Sir a guest has come insisting to meet with both of you and young master, also that guest's name is Professor McGonagall," said Butler Edward after getting informed by a maid.

"Did you say professor McGonagall just now Edward?" said Theo with a flash in the eyes.

"Indeed so young master."Replied Edward.

"Well, what are you waiting for. Please let professor McGonagall in and entertain her in the drawing-room while we finish our breakfast," said Robert.

"As command master," said Edward while giving a bow and went outside the dining area.

"Well that's earlier than expected," said Anna with a light smile.

When they went to the drawing-room, they saw a woman sitting on the sofa. She wore square-shaped glasses and had her hair tied up in a tight bunch.

She wore a dark green Scotland dress with a stern expression and gave the expression that she was some sort of a stiff but fair lady.

"Good morning. Hello, my name Minerva McGonagall. I'm a professor at Hogwarts. It's nice to meet you all."

Seeing us coming inside Miss McGonagall stood up extended greetings first.

"It's also nice to meet you too Miss McGonagall. Please have a seat," said Robert before indicating her to sit on the sofa.

"Thank you," said Miss McGonagall while sitting.

"Let me introduce myself, I'm Robert Augustus. She is my wife Anna Augustus, and he's my son Theodore Arthur Augustus," said Robert.

When Robert introduced everyone, she gave a profound gaze towards Theo. Her facial expression twitched a little, and her mouth had a slight curve of a smile.

"So Miss McGonagall don't mind, but I am kind of curious. May I know the reason behind your visit so early in the morning," asked Robert while indicating Edward to go out and prevent no one to enter otherwise asked.

He nodded in response and left the room while closing it behind him.

This little gesture didn't go unnoticed by Miss McGonagall but she didn't put much thought to it and instead replied,

"You may very well sir."

and continued,

"I have come for the admission purpose of your son in Hogwarts as well as other necessary purposes and more importantly about magic and magical world."

Then she looked at them and she became a little startled while seeing no obvious reaction from them. So she can't help but said,

"But it seems that you people have little idea about the subject we are talking about."

"Our apologizes, Professor McGonagall, for not telling you beforehand, but we know a thing or two about the wizarding world," said Robert with a little smile.

"Well, I am a little curious about how you know about our world. After all, we took all the precautionary measures to remove any trace of it from the muggle world," said Professor McGonagall.

"We are from Augustus' family. Our family household had a very long history which dated far behind to roman empire. So for us knowing a thing or two about that world is not that special. Besides with a long history, having few people with magical abilities is not a rare sight." said Robert with a little smile.

"Oh, I see. Then my job gets a lot easier then," said Professor McGonagall and spend a few moments discussing Hogwarts. Its rules and regulations, how to get there, what to expect, what not to expect, all kinds of things.

After finishing the discussion, she looked at Theo and asked,

"Don't you have the list of requirements with you?"

"Yes. Please look at it," said Theo giving the letter to her.

As the family beforehand saw the list, they were pretty much confused about where to buy them. So, Robert asked,

"Where are these items on the list that can be found, Professor?"

"Don't worry about it. All of the items are found in Diagon Alley.

It's a cobblestoned shopping area for the wizarding world, where Hogwarts students can purchase necessary supplies.

I will personally guide you there, that's why I am here." replied Professor McGonagall with a smile.

"Then we have to thank professor McGonagall in advance. By the way, professor McGonagall, my apologies for forgetting to give you refreshment. What do prefer, tea or drinks." said Anna with a pleasant smile.

"Sorry ma'am, I don't have enough time with me. That's why I came so early in the morning. If you don't mind shell we go to get the materials." said Professor McGonagall with a helpless face.

"Sure, why not professor McGonagall. I don't have any issue here. But give us a few moments to get ready, then we will leave immediately." said Robert while standing up.

Then all of them left the room. After a few moments, they were in their car going to a certain location shown by professor McGonagall.

Finally, they came in front of a certain place. When they came out they saw a broken-down old shop. Seeing the shop they got confused.

"Is it the place professor McGonagall?" said Theo with a face full of curiosity.

"Certainly not dear, there is strong magic been used here. Because of that what they don't see its real appearance. So don't worry follow me and come inside." she replied.

They followed Professor McGonagall and entered the place, and what they saw made their mind blown.

Inside was a pub full of people and bursting with noise.

When they entered, many people saw them, gaze at them for a few seconds, and went on their business.

But when they saw professor McGonagall, a few people called out to her in greetings.

"Hello professor McGonagall"

"Good day miss McGonagall"

"Hello miss McGonagall"

"Good da…"

...

While going towards the backside of the pub, she nodded to all the greetings, while Theo with an excited and curious gaze rolled all around and his parents with a blank look of a state followed her.

A few minutes later, they came in front of a brick wall backside of the pub. Then she took her wand out tap the wall's brick in sequence. Which Theo watched excitedly, expecting something to happen.

Then moment later, the wall started to shake and bricks started to move all by themselves.

Theo and his parent's jaw was left open when they saw a market bursting of people after the wall made them a path.

There were shops selling robes, shops selling telescopes and strange silver instruments Theo and his parents had never seen before.

Windows stacked with barrels of bat spleens and eels' eyes, tottering piles of spell books, quills, and rolls of parchment, potion bottles, globes of the moon...

"Welcome to the Diagon alley," said Professor McGonagall with a chuckle while looking at them.

"At first we will go to the bank to convert your money in Galleon"

While saying she started moving towards a direction and the rest were following him.

Later they came in front of a large bank named 'Gringotts Wizarding Bank'.

In front of the bank where some weird human-like small creature green in color.

Seeing them Theo and his parents were startled.

"Don't need to be afraid, they are goblins. They manage and run the bank," said Professor McGonagall seeing their startled face.

Then she told the goblin in front of the bank that they came to covert currencies and then they entered the bank following the goblin.

Then stood on the line where currencies are exchanged showed by the goblin.

On the line, there were many muggle families and their expressions were worth seeing.

Comparing to them Theo's parents were a lot calmer.

After they exchanged money they went to the stores to buy the necessary items.

They first went to Amanuensis Quills to buy parchments and quills.

Then went to Apothecary to buy potion materials, then went to Flourish and Blotts to buy the necessary books for academics.

Besides, seeing the shop with so many books on magic, potions, history, etc. Theo was excited.

As a result, he ordered more books than written on the list for research purposes.

Even though Theo looked gentle and innocent, but he is the smartest and most ready-witted guy in the room.

It's not boasting if saying he is a little genius.

Among his gift, he has another gift, which is a perfect photographic memory, high comprehension capability, and abnormally fast in calming his mind.

It can be said he can store extraordinary things in his little brain. This is also the reason he is calmer than his contemporaries.

After buying the items they went to Madam Malkin's shop to buy the school robe.

Madam Malkin was a short and stout witch with a good nature and dressed completely in purple.

"Hello my dear, are you a Hogwarts student?" She had spoken the very moment Theo and his parents came in.

"You will be able to buy all that you might need here."

"I want to buy the very best for my child," Robert spoke.

Madam Malkin nodded and letting Theo sit on the stool, she took out a robe and draped it over him. Before beginning to cut out the appropriate length and sewing. In a moment, the robe had been finished.

Magic was truly convenient. Feeling the robes Theo had felt that the saying 'you get what you pay for' was truly applicable here.

Although it was quite expensive, this robe would automatically iron itself, restore itself from any rips, and would always maintain a constant temperature with the excellent usage of magic.

Seeing the product, Anna went on a shopping spree of buying clothes for herself and a complete wardrobe for Theo.

After that, they also went to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor to have some ice-cream.

Where they tried the wizarding world's best delicacies as well as a few worst. It was a worthwhile experience.

Also, Theo bought an owl with beautiful and rich white golden feathers as a pet. Seeing how lovable the owl is, he gave it the name Linda.

Finally, he went to Ollivanders to buy his first wand.
