7 Chapter 7

"This is Diagon ally, where all wizarding supplies can be bought." she said and proceeded to take me with her. We stopped in front of White building, standing in front of which on both sides of the gate were short and weird creatures dressed in armor, wielding spears. 'Goblins' I identified. I am not sure how to treat them. In some of the fanfictions, I read in my previous life portrayed goblins as helpful creatures who were friendly to the wizards if given proper respect. While others portray them as bloodthirsty mongrels who tried to constantly find different ways to screw wizards out of their money. Until I know for sure, I have decided to stay neutral.

We walked inside and waited in front of a teller, who proceeded to ask us about our business. She produced my key and stiffly told the teller "Mr. Canis would like to make a withdrawal." and gave the key to him. Teller checked the key and motioned a nearby goblin, who then proceeded to take us to my vault in a cart. While in the cart I asked the goblin about required age to access my family vault, who then stiffly gave me a reply that I need to be 17 to access it. The ride was quick and short. The cart stopped outside vault 530 and we disembarked the cart. Goblin opened the vault using the key. Inside the vault was a small heap of gold coins along with a few bronze and silver coins scattered here and there.

By just looking, I presume there are around 15000G in there. Goblin provided me a bottomless pouch for 1 Galleon and I put around 1000G in it, thinking it should be enough.

Exiting the vault, I pocketed my key before prof. McGonagall can take it. Her face told that she disapproved me holding onto my key, but I ignored her.

She took me to Madam Malkin's shop to get my school robes and left me there to give measurements while she went to buy my other wizard supplies. After she got back we proceeded to buy my wand at Ollivander's wand shop.

It was a dingy looking shop filled with boxes from floor to ceiling With a counter, behind which stood an old man. Ollivander was a creepily old man who proceeded to tell me about my parents' wands. Buying a wand was anti-climactic. I was prepared to wait for a long while, waving many wands before getting matched with one, But I got a match with the first one and different colored dense stream of sparks were produced, like a flamethrower. It feels like a wand connected to my core and siphoned magic easily. Unlike doing magic wandlessly, when I have to control and forcefully move magic to do a spell, my magic moved fluidly on its on to the wand from my core. Wand also seemed to amplify and focus my magic while producing sparks. Sparks were ceased to exist when I stopped my magic from moving. Ollivander didn't seem to notice the unusually high number of sparks and went on.

"Yew with Dragon heartstrings, good for transfiguration and charms. I expect great things from you, Mr. Canis. That will be 7 Galleons. "

I also bought a maintaining kit and a wand holster from Ollivander. I am not going to just stick my wand in my pocket like a plebeian, that's just asking for it break or worse, stolen.
