37 Chapter 37

I have finally learned how to fly without a broom. It took close to 5 months for me to figure it out. Though I was able to pretty easily levitate around, it took fine-tuning for months to fly around fully in control and to fly around without thinking like second nature. I can now fly around at high speeds and even do complicated moves and stunts. Though I could previously do that in my falcon animagus form, flying in my human form is just awesome. If I had any heroic tendencies, I would have put on tights, a cape on my back and symbol of house Canis on my chest, and would have gone around saving people, calling myself 'SuperWizard'. Even better, I don't have any weakness to some random rocks.

But that's enough for now. I just felt Tonks ( she really hates when someone calls her by her first name or even any nickname) crossing the wards around the house and come inside.

" Hey babe, how is everything? I heard they found Moody in his trunk. How is he doing?" I asked her when she came inside and kissed her.

She kissed me back and replied," Oh, he's fine. You know how he is, Even though healer told him to rest, he didn't listen and even showed up for work. Not to mention he's extra paranoid due to Barty Crouch Jr. getting a jump on him. He spent his whole day hitting random Aurors with stinging hex shouting 'CONSTANT VIGILANCE'. Everyone was super annoyed."

" Anyway, since he's back that means you are on active duty on the field with him, right?" I asked.

"Yes, I am back to field duty. Thank god, paperwork was killing me, not to mention irregular hours of work" she replied looking happy.

Since it was getting late, we had our dinner and went to my room. She spent the night with me, not that I was complaining.

Everything has been going pretty great between me and Tonks. I really like her.

Next morning, after we had our breakfast, I asked Tonks," Hey Tonks, I have been thinking about this a lot and I want you to move in with me. You, know since we are already spending so much time together and you already have some of your stuff here. I think you should move in, you know, that way you won't need to go to your apartment to get ready for work. Besides, since Voldemort has risen again, a war is about to happen and I think it will be safer for me to have an Auror close by to protect me. (She is a strong and independent woman. I didn't want to say that she needs protection and imply that she is weak since she might take it as an insult. So I went about it by joking and saying that I was the one who needed protection.)"

"You need someone to protect you!!!" she exclaimed and continued, " I saw your fight with Voldemort, it sure doesn't seem like need whole lot of protecting."

So, she already joined the Order. Well, Dumbledore sure didn't wait before reinstating the Order. It's not like they do much of anything besides stalking Harry.

" Hey I am just a civilian, It's your duty as a big bad Auror to protect me" I said jokingly.

"Prat," she said and punched me playfully.

"Well, joking aside, I really think it would be a good idea for us to live together." I said seriously.

" You know what, you are right, I spend most of the nights here anyways. This way I won't have to go to my place every day just to get ready for work. Alright, I will go get my stuff and cancel the apartment lease. But before that, I have something very important to ask you." She stopped and looked at me. She continued when I nodded, " I wanted to invite you to join a group with me. It's called Order of the Phoenix. It's lead by Headmaster Dumbledore to fight against the Dark Lord and death eaters and to save lives in the upcoming war."

" So, despite being an Auror, you joined this vigilante group to fight. Why didn't you go to Head of DMLE, Amelia Bones, and convince her to organize Aurors to fight and prepare for war? This way you can legally join the fight and save lives." I asked her.

" I would like to but I can't. Minister Fudge is refusing to see the reason. If DMLE were to prepare for war, he will think that we are staging a coup against him, and might take drastic measures. Besides, there are many traitors and Death Eater sympathizers in all departments of the ministry. It will make it even harder for us if they were to find our plans in advance." She replied looking desperate.

"You know, for you, I will go and hear them out. But, I will only join if I agree with their goals. But, before I do that, you need to come with me to meet Madam Bones. House of Bones and House of Canis have always been allies ( though they allied with light families in last war after my parents died) and I will be meeting her as Lord Canis, since she is the current Regent of House Bones, to discuss our stance on upcoming war. I have already written her, and we will be meeting at Bones Manor today, I want you to join us." I stated.

If I remember correctly, she was attacked and killed in the 5th book by Voldemort since she was head of DMLE( also one of few competent people at the ministry) and could possibly organize Aurors to fight against him and death eaters. I will be warning her against possible threats against her life. She should become a minister after Voldemort gets seen in public and Fudge gets booted. It will be good for me to build relationships with a future Minister of magic.
