35 Chapter 35

When I reached back to the place of the 3rd task, there was complete pandemonium. Everyone was shouting something and screaming. As I got closer, I heard people shouting at Harry, calling him a liar. Many were even accusing him of killing Adien Canis to just win. Wait, what? Isn't that me, they are accusing him of killing me. Why in the hell do they think that I am dead? What did Harry even say to them, for them to assume me dead? I quickly made my way towards where Harry, Dumbledore and minister Fudge were.

Due to all the noise, I asked Harry loudly, "Harry, what did you tell everyone? Why do they think that I am dead."

Harry looked stunned when he saw my face. Did he really think that I was sacrificing myself, just to make sure he gets back and survive? Oh, dear me, this is just rich.

Everyone else surrounding us went quiet when they saw me alive and dandy, without so much as a scratch.

Even Dumbledore looked very surprised and curious. He looked quite eager to talk to me privately and ask about the juicy details about my recent 'adventure'.

"But....but, how are you even alive. How did you get away from Voldemort, I thought that Triwizard cup was the only way to escape." Harry stuttered and asked.

Almost everyone flinched when he said 'Voldemort'.

Before I could answer, someone from the peanut gallery shouted, " I knew it, he was just lying to get attention. There is no way You-know-who is back. Besides Mr. Canis is obviously fine, without any scratch."

Quickly, Already frightened Minister Fudge asked me," Mr. Canis, tell me the truth. Harry is just lying about the whole thing for attention, isn't he?"

Although he asked for the truth, he obviously wanted me to say that Harry is lying.

Well, seems like I have a choice to make. If I tell the truth and say that Voldemort is back, I will be called a liar and have my name dragged through the mud in newspapers with Harry and Dumbledore for at least one year, before Voldemort's public appearance at DOM.

On the other hand, I can say what everyone wants to here and tell them that Harry is lying. Even though I would then have my reputation intact for the upcoming year, I will obviously be alienating Harry, Dumbledore and the rest of the Order of the Phoenix along with my girlfriend who is soon going to be a part of said group. Well, my choice is obvious.

" I am afraid Mr. Potter is telling the truth, Minister. Voldemort is indeed back. He was resurrected in the cemetery via a ritual." I replied calmly.

"I knew it, you are in on this scheme of Dumbledore's to take my seat of the Minister. I won't fall for this obvious lie and will make sure that nobody else does either." He angrily replied and hastily walked away with his two Auror bodyguards.

Seeing this I also walked away quickly before Dumbledore could stop me and ask for my memory or fish for any other information.

When I was out of the Hogwarts wards, I Apparated back to my House.

Tonks didn't come to my house that day. I assume she was with her mentor, Moody, who I presume was found in a trunk when everyone found out that it was actually Barty Crouch Jr. that was polyjuiced as Moody.

Now that I think about it, Dumbledore should form his little Order quite soon. Though we decided to keep our relationship secret from others until attention I am getting due to masteries died down, I know she won't be able to hold out much longer and tell the order about our relationship, because she is a good person and she would definitely want me to join the order to fight against Voldemort and his minions, to save the people and wizarding world form deaths and destruction.

Next day, when I saw the newspaper, I was once again glad that I got rid of Skeeter beforehand. The newspaper was filled with articles about how Dumbledore, Harry and I were lying to seek attention and possibly to usurp the Minister's power by spreading false rumors. Though none were as venomous as Skeeter's would have been.
