13 Chapter 13 - Sparring Practice (1)

Arya gave Hermione a warm smile before she turned and accompanied Professor Flitwick. Arya and Draco followed behind Professor Flitwick as they walked towards his classroom. They exchanged looks but didn't say a word until they fully understood what was going on. Arya had nothing but good feelings towards Flitwick as she always thought he was the best Head of House in Hogwarts when she read the books. While McGonagall was present in Harry's life during his time in Hogwarts, and showed concern towards him she felt it was only because he was the boy who lived and didn't pay attention to other Gryffindors unless they caused trouble. Professor Flitwick on the other hand was shown to be more involved with his students so she was curious to see where this would go. They finally reached Professor Flitwick's office at the back of his classroom. The door closed behind them and Professor Flitwick sat at his desk staring at them. Unsure where the professor stood the duo just stood at attention waiting to be addressed.

Professor Flitwick - " Second day at Hogwarts and already causing trouble Ms Rosier?"

Arya - "My sincerest apologies Professor but my friend and my house's honor were attacked I couldn't just stand there and accept it, especially from that twat.

Professor Flitwick - "Mind your language Ms Rosier, however I didn't call you two here to lecture you about your behavior. If i was in the same position as you I would have reacted in a much less polite way for such blatant insults towards my friends.

Draco and Arya looked on in shock as the professor gave them a bloodthirsty smirk.

Professor Flitwick - " No I called you here for three reasons, first and foremost thanks to my history with Dueling I am very interested to see the abilities of you two who are widely acknowledged in dueling circles for being once in a hundred year talents at dueling. Secondly I will not have anyone in my house be put at a disadvantage and I can assure you Professor Snape will hold nothing back from those four to save face for House Slytherin even if his Godson is involved. More than likely he will have them target you Ms Rosier and look to have Flint keep Malfoy occupied while the three gang up on you in the most painful way possible before forcing Mr Malfoy to submit due to overwhelming numbers and in efforts to keep you from further harm. Thirdly Professor Snape and I have never gotten on and it would be an extra feather in my cap to see his students lose to you."

Arya and Draco were further surprised by Professor Flitwicks response and a bloodthirsty aura surrounded him. 'Where is the kind and jolly Professor from the books' thought Arya.

Draco - "I assure you professor despite despite Flints extra years on me I will not be held back for long and Arya will mop the floor with the three stooges."

Professor Flitwick let out a chuckle before saying "Of that I have little doubt Mr Malfoy but we must always be wary of what Professor Snape will have in store for this duel. Now I would like to see you two spar so I can get a grasp for your dueling styles if you don't mind, impress me enough and I can promise you some private lessons for two future pillars of dueling."

Arya and Draco were further shocked but were able to come back to their senses quickly enough. Arya questioned Professor Flitwick " Where would you have us duel professor I would rather avoid doing any damage to your classroom and I can't ensure Draco and myself wont get carried away, we usually do whenever we duel."

Professor Flitwick simply smiled and flicked his wand, his office walls extended outward and a dueling platform appeared in the middle of the office floor. "Right there Ms Rosier, and fear not I will put up a barrier to prevent any harm coming to my office"

Arya nodded her head at the professor before heading to one side of the dueling platform as Draco headed to the opposite side. Arya smirked at Draco and said "hope your ready for another loss Draco I have no intentions of holding back, I was hoping to ask Professor to give me lessons so I could waste you more often."

Draco - " please Ary what is our current record 39-24 in my favor if I remember correctly, your ten years too early to say that to me."

A tick mark appeared on Arya's forehead as they faced each other and bowed before taking out their wands and readying their stances. Professor Flitwick became giddy at the site 'such natural dueling stances, are these two really first years. I feel like I'm in for a special treat today. From what I know both the Malfoy and Rosier Families have a forte for dueling whereas the Malfoy family focus on curses and dark magic, the Rosier family focuses on Transfiguration spells in their family magic." thought the former two time dueling champion. Professor Flitwick was taken out of his thoughts as Arya spoke to him " best put up a strong barrier professor the last time Malfoy and I dueled was close to a year ago and I have many new spells to try out on the smug young master."

Professor Flitwick quickly flicked his wand and a large yellow barrier was formed around the the room, he further strengthened it again before yelling "BEGIN"

Draco was the first to move he swished his wand and chanted "Locomortor Mortis" closely chained with "Confringo" a further two times. The spells quickly launched at Arya but she was already prepared for Draco's usual opening spell chain and dodged the first spell before she chanted back "Avis" launching a flock of birds to intercept the following blasting curses before chanting "Duro" further hardening the birds into stone. The first birds to meet the curses exploded but Arya then saying "Draconifors" turning the birds into small fire breathing dragons. Draco was initially taken aback by the creative use of transfiguration in Arya's dueling style but quickly recovered and sent a Bombarda curse at the dragons that were destroyed in one massive hit. Arya frustrated at the ease Malfoy handled her dragons prepared another offensive spell but before she could get the words out Draco attacked with three volleys of stupify followed by a Petrificulus Totalus curse. Arya immediately conjured a large stone wall in front of her to intercept the spells coming her way before she waved her wand and launched "tres gladi" at Draco immediately conjuring three swords that flew towards him. Draco responded with "Metallis Aqua" turning the metal swords into water that soaked him but left him completely unharmed. Arya couldn't believe Draco had mastered some transfiguration spells and incorporated them in the duel instantly.

Arya - "Damn Draco, when did you start using transfiguration in your duels?"

Draco responded with a smirk on his face "I learned a thing or two from you in our previous bouts little dove, what can I say you inspired me to be more creative"

Arya pouted at his use of her family nickname but was inwardly smiling as this was the Draco she loved and valued as a friend not the racist robot with a superiority complex that his father was trying to create.

Arya - " well color me impressed Draco, but I am only getting started"
