40 Commotion in the owlry

This weekend I decided to visit Shade in the Olwry. After finishing my morning routine I went straight where it was placed.

Shade was more than happy to stay here than inside my dorm room nor in my mini-world.

Here he has many friends and playmates. I do not use owl mail for a long time so he likes to interact with other owls in here.

"Shade" I called as I raise my left hand and make a pose so he can land on it.

Shade glide down towards it very silently. He's so black that when he does this it's like a lump of darkness is coming towards you.

He landed in my arm. I pulled it close to me. Shade happily greets me trying to make contact with his beak towards my face, it feels like he wants to kiss me. I let him nimble on my hair.

I summon a fish from my world and gave it to him, swallowing it whole.

Moriah dispelled her invisible state and spoke to me. [master I want one also]

While I was going to summon one again a scream echoed throughout the whole owlry.

"Aaah. Meshac a snake on your shoulder."

I spun around to see who it was. "oh Cho it's you. Don't worry she 8s harmless if not provoked. What to know her?"

[Don't show her your abilities just act like a normal snake.] I reminded Moriah.

[Yes, understood master]

[And play nice moriah].

she nodded.

"Come closer, I want you to meet Moriah. My contracted familiar. Don't worry I said to her that you are not an enemy but a friend."

Cho, wearing a white winter coat, pants, gloves, and a white knitted fluffy hat walks towards me.

"Your contracted familiar? I thought we can only bring one pet?"

"She is not a pet she is my bonded familiar there is a big difference. Also, I did not bring her here to Hogwarts she came here after I dropped her from the Hogwarts station. I took the boat she swam. So technically she went to Hogwarts herself. Now, this is my pet meet shade, my owl." I created a story to tell about Moriah.

"I kinda know that. But how come she can be a bonded familiar? I thought wizards and witches can only form a bond with a strong magical creature?"

"Oh, Moriah is very special. She is an Amphiptere. She can fly also." [show her you can fly].

Moriah floated and circled in my head a couple of turns and landed back on my shoulder.

"Can I touch her?"

"That, I'll have to ask her permission first." [Will you allow her to touch you?]

Moriah look at Cho glare a little bit and turn her head and nodded. [sure.]

Cho flinched a little when Moriah looked at her, but relaxed when she heard it was ok to pet her. Slowly she got close to me. She tried to pet Moriah.

"Wow her skin is like velvety soft."

"Yeah, I'm surprised that you are not afraid of her. Most women are afraid of snakes."

"Well, I do somehow trust you and I'm just the curious type. Anyway, what are you doing here so early?" Cho stops stroking Moriah. She did seem to like it.

"I always get up very early and since I have nothing to do I visit my owl, Shade. What about you, why are your so early also?"

"I'm just excited to send my letter to my parent about all my experience in attending Hogwarts. I can't even sleep last night."

"Ah... ok I'll leave you to do your thing. Nice seeing you." I walked outside and go back to the castle.

"Thank you for showing Moriah to me." I heard her speak as I am walking away. Then it hit me why would I show Cho my contracted familiar? What the fuck seems I let my guard down. Why? Do I need to obliviate her? No. She is a pureblood and it's risky if someone found out her memories have been altered.

"Aaah Cho, can you not tell anyone about her. She is my secret you know, I don't want troubles for both Moriah and me." I stop and a look back and said.

"Okay, I promise." As she turned and smiled

"Thank You, I whispered back.

Seems like I act like my age when I am near these kids. Whew dangerous, well, anyway today is Sunday so no classes and I would like to roam around the castle just to see what it looks like when it's normal days.

So the movie really doesn't do justice to how it portrays Hogwarts as a school. The number of students is almost a thousand, while in the movies the number of students shown in the great hall was at most three hundred.

Roaming around there are so many rooms that are unused and most of them are unlocked. I tried to find Hagrid's hut outside the castle ground. Finding it for some time of looking around, it is really very ugly. Like it was a farmer's rest hut after farming in the field. Also, it is very fire-prone. The roof is made out of straw the walls was a combination of logs and stones and the are so many miscellaneous things around that even I don't know what it is.

Coming near the garden I observed what kinds of crops are planted. It was mostly pumpkin. Some cabbage, carrots, and potatoes.

The door of the hut opened and out came Hagrid. "Oi, you there what are you doing roaming around this part of the school ground. You are not permitted to roam around here."

Hmm, not so friendly after all this famous gentle giant as they say. Maybe I will tease him a bit.

"Is that so? I apologise for the trouble. Hogwarts does not give a student rules handbook and all that was announced was the dark forest is forbidden to enter. I do wonder why would a suspect of a killing in Hogwarts a few decades back was allowed to stay in the school premises."

"Where did you learn that. I have been proven innocent due to lack of evidence for the crime."

"True. Well, it is also true that your previous pet now wreaks havoc in the dark forest and kills all the native magical creatures that live there. I do think the ministry should know that an arachnid nest is a result of your incompetence to control your pets. I wonder how they would act? Well anyway, that is their problem not mine. I should go back to the castle now." I turned around and left immediately not bothering to see what kind of reaction the half-giant had.

It was time for lunch in the great hall the class schedule is posted on the notice board, which is placed near the castle entrance and near the great hall entrance. Walking towards the great hall a took a quick glance at the schedule for the first year.

Monday – Charms in the morning (with Gryffindor), History in the afternoon (Hufflepuff)

Tuesday – Herbology in the morning (with Hufflepuff), defence against the dark arts in the afternoon (with Slytherin)

Wednesday – Astronomy at midnight (with Hufflepuff)

Thursday – Transfiguration (with Gryffindor)

Friday – Morning double Potions (with Slytherin), afternoon off

Saturday - Broom lesson morning

Well, that was a busy schedule, only Sunday is the day with a whole day of no activities. Anyway, I'm hungry and I went inside the great hall to eat.

Finding a seat at the raven claw tables where the first years are at I found a space near the trio. I sat beside them. In total there are 27 Ravenclaw first year but I do not know them all or bother knowing them nor the other first years in the other houses. The usual chat was necessary, talking about their day and my day.

After our lunch. I run towards professor McGonagall before she could leave the hall. "Professor, May I ask if you have the time for a five minutes conversation?"

"Mr Ophias I do apologise, I am very busy for tomorrow will be the first official starting of classes. I do need to prepare many things at the moment. As you can see headmaster Dumbledore is still not present at the moment and all the school preparation was handed down to me. So no."

"How about a time to answer just one question, it is related to your specialities, transfigurations that is?"

"Very well, one question. What is it."

I showed her a sample of the wizard's card collectables, which was also her card. The professor raises her brow in interest. "Do you want me to autograph that for you Mr Ophias?" She questioned

"No professor, I just want to ask is it possible to make this card transfigured itself to a figure similar to the character who is on the card whenever activate it?"

"What do mean when you activate it Mr Ophias?"

"I am trying to make a card game that has cards with a character and Attacks power and defence to battle each other so what I meant by activating is making it go to battle Lik a wizard's chess when a piece attacks the enemy piece. Is it possible?"

"The answer is yes, but that would require a complex runs and transfigurations magic more complex than the wizard's chess set. You are too young to make that. I advise you to master first your subjects and do not dwell on things that are way out of your league. That is all the time I have. Will you excuse me Mr Ophias?"

"Thanks, professor for that enlightenment and advice."

I think I should start the second phase of my plans.
