2 Only Kids Make Choices

Nighttime, the living room was filled with a rich fragrance.

Dinner was quite lavish – the pastries were enveloped in golden syrup, and around the pastries, there was a layer of whipped cream.

A large plate of fried fish accompanied by fried potatoes, coated with a layer of almond flakes, fragrant and not greasy.

At the end of dinner, William quickly explained the events of the morning.

His father, Roy, held a cup of tea and sipped it slowly, carefully examining the letter without immediately expressing his opinion.

However, his mother, Leanna, hesitated for a moment before gently reminding him, "Dear, this is obviously a prank. You know, when I was a child, I received a letter from a mysterious doctor who invited me to visit the TARDIS and save the world..."

Annie, the nine-year-old, raised her hand and exclaimed loudly, "Annie also received a reply from Baker Street!"

The little girl sent five letters to Baker Street every week.

The staff probably couldn't handle such an enthusiastic fan, so they wrote a polite response, saying that Sherlock Holmes had gone to the Himalayas to study magic, and asked her not to send letters for a while.

William had a bit of a headache; he couldn't explain that this wasn't a prank.

As for magic, he still couldn't freely manifest this power.

Father Roy remained silent for a moment, put down the letter, raised his head, and looked at his son seriously, saying, "William, your mother is right. There's no such thing as magic.

You know, after graduating, I hope you'll go to Eton College for middle school, and then to Oxford for university, not some Hogwarts..."

What Roy wanted to say was that Hogwarts... just didn't sound like a serious school.

Even the name Albus Dumbledore didn't sound like a serious person!

"Dear, why Oxford? I think Cambridge is better," Leanna said, tilting her chin discontentedly.

"Hey, Leanna, I know you're a professor at Cambridge, but... You know, Cambridge is just a preparatory school for Oxford."

The two of them engaged in a "friendly" debate, while William looked utterly confused.

This scene seemed familiar... wait a minute, in his previous life, didn't he struggle like this whether to go to MIT University or Harvard University?

Because of this, William had also tossed and turned, losing sleep for several nights.

"Annie, what are you doing?" William suddenly shifted his gaze to the little girl.

Annie froze, the fork in her hand still suspended in the air.

It was clear that she had just intended to feed the fish from her plate to the orange cat, Clementine.

"Annie, you can't feed Clementine anymore; it already had some fish treats. It's easy for it to gain weight if it eats too much."

Biologists have proven that orange cats and fat orange cats are two different species; the latter is more accurately categorized as a pig.

William couldn't let his adorable ferret turn into a fat cat!

Annie looked wronged and said, "Clementine had its fish treats stolen by the owl."

Due to safety concerns after being attacked by Clementine, the owl that delivered the acceptance letter hadn't been sent back to Hogwarts immediately by William.

However... the boy frowned.

Earlier, the owl had been crawling on the ground, using its wings and two feet to move, looking like it was seriously injured... but how was it now tearing the fish with such strength?

Was it really injured?

Sensing William's gaze, the owl's big, innocent eyes moved slightly, then it relaxed its grip, and the fish fell into the cat's bowl.

It also lay on the ground and twitched, looking partially paralyzed.

"..."

William rolled his eyes; this guy was pretending to be sick to avoid delivering the acceptance letter back to Hogwarts.

Clementine, perched on the couch, cast a disdainful glance at the owl that was still trying to act cute, shivering its whiskers, looking rather haughty.

At this point, William's parents had transitioned from discussing the quality of universities to international disputes, then jumping to Charles, and eventually, speculating how many years they had left until he became king.

Finally, the two of them came to a consensus: he probably wouldn't outlive the queen!

William nodded in agreement. The queen was a finalist in the survival game, and her opponent was an old man.

...

...

The shameless owl ate two days' worth of food and suffered countless eye-rolls from Clementine before finally leaving with William's reply.

Before departing, it even took two packs of fish treats.

This made Clementine very angry.

Though the owl liked to fake injuries, it promptly delivered a response, but as it left, it also took away one of Clementine's favorite feather toys.

As a Muggle family, the school would send a teacher for a home visit in two days. Hogwarts was used to the distrust of Muggle parents.

Not every parent was open-minded enough to entrust their eleven-year-old child to a school with an unknown background, especially one that proclaimed itself a school of magic.

This was somewhat equivalent to suddenly encountering a charlatan in America who claimed to be a dropout from Harvard and told you that your son's "exceptional" IQ made him a genius seen once every hundred years. He wanted to take him to Harvard for further education... most likely, he'd get beaten so badly he wouldn't even recognize his mother.

However, the Hogwarts teachers weren't very punctual. Even though they had agreed to arrive at nine o'clock, afternoon came without a trace of them.

"It must be a scam!" Roy sat on the couch, discontented.

As a dentist, he had a good sense of time.

Ding dong!

Just then, the doorbell rang unexpectedly.

Annie, who had been holding a sleepy Clementine, shot up from the couch in a flash.

The little girl knocked the orange cat, which had been lying on her stomach, flying off the couch.

A few seconds later, a mournful scream came from the other side of the carpet.

"Meow meow meow..."

Now, she was finally awake.

Annie dashed to the front door, eager to open the door handle. Finally, she saw the wizard she had been talking about for days...

She looked up,

Looked up again,

And once more...

"Wow," Annie exclaimed in astonishment.

A tall figure almost blocked the entire door.

The man was wearing a furry brown suit without a tie. He lowered his head, revealing a face with a tangled thick beard, but you could still see his pair of beetle-like eyes shining beneath his hair.

Compared to the thick beard, the giant's hair was relatively tame... of course, this was all relative. He seemed to have used a lot of mechanical lubricants or something similar to try to tie his hair into a ponytail, which looked extremely odd.

To be honest, William was taken aback.

This was different from the wizard he had imagined. The image of a wizard in his mind should at least include yellow adhesive shoes and cropped pants...

And Hagrid... seemed more like a giant than a wizard.

William didn't know much about the Harry Potter world. He only remembered names like Harry, Voldemort, and Dumbledore.

As for the plot, he couldn't remember it at all.

If he had transmigrated into the Naruto or Marvel world, he might have been able to make some preparations with his foresight and avoid many dangers in advance. But in the Harry Potter world, that was completely impossible.

After all, he knew nothing about the plot.

So, not going to Hogwarts?

Don't be ridiculous; who could resist the temptation of magic?

As for a more comfortable life in the scientific world... only children make choices, and William wanted it all!
