18 18 - Acromantulas and Fun

It's been 3 months since I came back to Hogwarts.

Right now, it's 11pm, and i'm about to go into the forbidden forest. Why? Well.. Neither me or Snape have any Acromantula Ingredients left. The venom can be used in Armadillo Bile Mixture, but i'm here for the fangs.

You see, the fangs have been the best ingredient that I've used so far that strongly increase the potency of a potion while not affecting the stability all that much.

I've found that Magical People in general, especially in Britain, are fine with what they have and don't bother trying to improve things.

Most people just use known recipes and ingredients without exploring new ideas and I think that's stupid. I only managed to discover that acromantula fangs had such a great use instead of just helping with a few poisons because I wanted to know how they react to other ingredients, apparently, barely anybody else does this these days.

I mean sure, it's a very.. expensive.. business, but with the discoveries I've made so far, give it a few years and I'll have more than made my money back.

Anyway, I'm currently at the forbidden forest and i'm here for the little arachnids, well.. big arachnids.

I could walk around blindly, or maybe use a point-me spell to find the acromantulas, but luckily I have a map. I didn't get the one from The Vault of Fear, that'd be far too troublesome and time-consuming. Instead, I.. borrowed.. a crudely drawn map made by Hagrid, I mean sure, he technically doesn't know I have it, but it's not like i'm stealing it or something, I'll give it back.. eventually, but it's fine, really, it's for the greater goo-.. ahem, nevermind, I suddenly had a hallucination that I had a twinkling eye and was wearing horrible brightly coloured robes.

Deciding I would go to the roughly drawn shape on the map with very simple looking spiders on it.. aka, a blob with 4 legs on each side and dots for eyes, I started walking while under a large amount of stealth spells that enhanced my senses and masked my magic, scent, sound, body and pretty much everything. In fact, I even did the spells in Aeritongue too for good measure, though i'm not quite sure if they did anything extra.

After around 20 minutes of adventuring through the forest and enjoying the peaceful.. if not kind of eerie atmosphere, I finally started seeing some webs.

At this point, I was moving slowly through the forest and keeping my eyes peeled for any danger.

I did this for 10 minutes before getting bored, 'ah, screw it'.

'Accio Acromantula!' I said while pointing my wand to the ground on my left. I waited for 8 seconds before 3 screeching acromantuals came flying through the air. 2 in front and 1 behind.. wait, behind? Using all of my reflexes I gained from dodging countless duelling spells over and over, I rolled as fast as I could, where a 1 meter in diameter giant spider flew right by me to where I pointed the spell, 2 seconds later and there were 3 acromantula who didn't look very happy with me.

They were all looking around checking what the hell brought them here.

'Arania Exumai' all of the spiders went flying backwards, so quickly turning around I bombarded them with spells 'Diffindo!', 'Stupefy!', 'Petrificus Totalus!', 'Immobulus!'

One spider got half of its legs cut off from the Diffindo, the Stupefy hit it causing it to fall to the floor unmoving, the Petrificus Totalus hit another one causing it to freeze up stiffly and hit the ground.

The final and biggest one was already charging at me when it got hit with the immobulus, freezing it completely.

'Phew, that was a little Gryffindorish of me, but I was running out of patience with these damn spiders.'

Quickly separating the heads from their bodies, I got to work cutting off their fangs, with spells of course.

Quickly gathering them into the space I prepared for them, I used a silent and wandless levitating charm to quickly gather them into the bag.

'Ugh, acromantulas looks really disgusting, the fangs are dripping in venom and their fat and hairy.'

All of a sudden, I could feel slight vibrations happening multiple times a second on the floor.

'That's.. a lot of footsteps.' Not daring to test my invisibility against a stampede of acromantulas, I quickly made my way in the direction I came from.

After 5-10 minutes of fast jogging, I finally made my way out of the forest, letting out a deep breath. 'I didn't realise how suffocating it is in there until I got back out.'

Luckily, it was a success and I got 6 fangs.. I probably should've gotten a few more but there's no way I was risking it against a damn stampede of angry spiders.

*6 months into Hogwarts*

I was sitting next to Myra and another girl called Sarah who is in Ravenclaw. Halfway into the lesson, Snape suddenly tripped over onto the floor after sneaking up on a random Ravenclaw student and startling them, he got up looking murderous when all of a sudden his hair fell out and his nose started growing to the size of an eggplant, his ears started turning black and slowly shifted into bat ears.

At this point, the whole class was snickering and Snape was looking like he'd stare the class to death. He stared every student in the eyes one at a time and when he got to me, I felt a tingle in my mind, meaning he was using legillimency, it seems he's just disregarding how illegal it is, not that I can really prove he's doing it.

I directed his mind subtly to my fake thoughts and memories so that it just showed I was thinking about what just happened and how funny it was, he can't really punish me for laughing at him in my mind.

After he'd stared down every student in class and couldn't find anything, there were still a few snickers around and he still looked bald with a huge nose and bat ears.

"Think this is funny do you?! 20 points from Ravenclaw!"

At that, there were multiple cries of outrage from the Ravenclaws and even more snickers from the Slytherins, "But sir, that's not fair! We didn't do anything!" Shouted a boy who I think his name was Arthur Williams, a muggle-born.

"10 more points for your cheek!" There were even more outraged cries from the Ravenclaws who seem to prioritise House Points and Grades as important as their lives for some reason.

As for me, my face was normal but in my mind I was laughing my ass off, 'take that you overgrown bat, i'm just getting started!.'

As for House Points? 'Oh no! I'm not gonna get a metal cup for less than a year! What ever shall I do?', but seriously, why do these people take the House Cup bs so seriously, it's not as if it does anything.. I was broken out of my thoughts by Snape who just let out a ridiculously loud fart. At this point, he stormed out of the room, leaving the rest of the class laughing their head off.

'I'd say that was a success, but I can do better than that for sure.'

It's now Christmas and we're reaching the end of the year, as a progress update I'd like to say I've managed to create a few more of my own potions,

My Potions Journal now looks like this:

I also managed to make existing potions with a few changes that reduce the brewing time, namely the Ageing Potion and Polyjuice Potion.

Of course, I didn't neglect my other subjects. I'm always looking out for new and interesting books to read, and my progress in runes has developed quite well, namely, I've used runes to allow muggle technology to work in magical areas to a certain extent, of course it still has room for improvement but it's definitely progress, I used some old roman runic language that allowed me to separate the conflicting energies of magic and waves like radio-waves, but it doesn't really work in long distances just yet.

I made sure that I kept up to date on my physical health by doing basic exercises and running around the Black Lake, and now that puberty is starting to kick in, my physique is slowly starting to become more noticeable. I have a lean build but my stamina, strength and reflexes are definitely better than average. If someone from the magical world were to try and fight me in a physical fight.. to put it shortly, i'd destroy them, the only limitations would be my height and reach limited by age.

I did focus more on runes and potions throughout the year instead of duelling but that doesn't mean I didn't improve. At this moment in time, i'm able to almost pass Mode 5 or 'Difficult' the problem i'm having now is lack of casting speed and power which the best way to improve that is getting older.

Here's how my duelling experience went with 'Difficult' Mode..
