2 Traumatic Experience Harlequin's POV

Traumatic Experience

Harlequin's POV

After I had taken a deep breath, I left Dimitri's embrace. He tried to get me to relax a bit and told me to try to think about it calmly.

He decided we should go to the doctor so he could perform a check up and I agreed. After the physical examination with the same doctor who had treated me before,I had been more than shocked when a wedding gown was brought.

I demanded to know what was going on and the doctor told me that that was what I was wearing on the day that I was brought to the hospital, apparently from an accident scene.

"Why was I wearing a wedding gown during my accident? It just doesn't make sense." I asked curious, because none of it truly made any sense.

"I'm afraid there's only one logical explanation for this, you were married." Dimitri said somewhat sadly.

"What?!" I yelled.

The doctor went on to explain the conditions for early marriage in Russia. "But why would my own parents get me married so early in life? Was I a burden to them?" I asked in tears.

"That's exactly what we don't know. We would have tried to contact your family but unfortunately, you lost your memory but hopefully, you'll get it back." The doctor said, trying to sound encouraging but it clearly wasn't working.

"How?" I asked hopefully, I was tired of being ignorant and confused. What exactly happened to me? Why did I get married? Who are my parents? I wanted to find out absolutely everything about myself.

"We'll place you under therapy. It may take a long or a short period depending on your determination, cooperation and retention capability but I promise when we're done, all your questions will be answered and you can answer ours." The doctor promised and I nodded.

I really hope this works,I just need to know!

Three Months Later

Harlequin's POV

It's been three months of intense therapy and brain storming and I had remembered almost everything. The only thing I'm still curious about is where my parents are and how I had that accident. I remember getting married to Liam in the Court but the rest was just blank.

Dimitri suggested taking me to the accident scene could help. We drove to the court and questioned the judge who officiated my wedding. Although he seemed reluctant to talk, after Dimitri had a word with him privately, he spilled.

It would have been quite funny if I wasn't the one involved because I used to think that I was the only one Dimitri could bend to his will but apparently, he could do that with judges too!

We followed his instructions and as we were driving in the direction described to us by him,I began having those flashbacks again.

I told Dimitri to stop the car on instinct when we got to a certain place. I felt I had been there before. When I saw a particular pillar, I rushed over to touch it,it had a spot coloured red and when I grazed my fingers over it, it all came back to me. I remembered everything like the day it happened. It was like a horror movie playing in my head over and over again,I just wanted it to stop.

I screamed, held my head and fainted.

The next time I woke up,I was in a hospital. Dimitri asked what the problem was and why I had suddenly gone hysterical and lost consciousness. And I told him everything in tears,I felt so traumatized. I had lost everything all in one day, my parents, parents in law and husband in a blast for more than half a year yet,I was only remembering it now.

I couldn't even mourn for them and I had no idea where their bodies were. Only the thought triggered so many emotions that I had a seizure.

It took alot of effort to calm me down. Dimitri had some investigation done and found out,the remains of my family had already been buried in a public cemetery.

Worst of all, their graves were nameless because no one knew their identity and no family member had come forward to claim their bodies,or should I say remains.

I swear these are the worst days of my life and I'll never forget them, never!

Dimitri had me promise I would control myself before he took me to the cemetery where my parents and husband were buried. Well I broke the promise, I cried my eyes out in Dimitri's arms and fainted from shock and dehydration.

Due to my current state, it was obvious that I was quickly slipping into depression and Dimitri took a hard decision that would be beneficial to me,he decided it best to send me abroad for the time being to cool off and continue my studies, because I had quickly become a shadow of my old self.

He didn't want me thinking bad thoughts and plunging into depression but occasionally, I found myself having suicidal thoughts.

Dimitri is such a kind soul,I'll forever remain grateful and indebted to him. So much had happened in the past few months, the people I called family had left me forever, my birthday had come and gone without my knowledge and I was not even myself anymore.

I really needed the break from everyone and everything, time to console myself and gather the broken pieces of my life and that's exactly what Dimitri gave me.
