Synopsis

"The world’s not fair, but fairness doesn’t pay the bills. You don’t wait for a handout — you build your own damn ladder, one step at a time." Ethan Grey’s life was built on ambition, hard work, and hope — until a single accusation destroyed it all. Framed by his ruthless boss, Ethan loses his job, his reputation, and is left drowning in half a million dollars of debt. Cast aside by a society that thrives on crushing the weak, he’s at rock bottom with no way out. But in his darkest moment, something extraordinary happens. A mysterious system awakens, offering Ethan a second chance — but with rules. [Congratulations, You have awakened the Harem Investment System] It can’t make him rich overnight, and it won’t give him shortcuts. Instead, it points him toward physical investments: crumbling properties, broken-down machines, and forgotten treasures. Each one is a gamble, but with every success, the system rewards him with newfound skills and opportunities.

Chapter 1The End Of The Line

Ethan Grey sat slumped on the edge of his worn-out couch, staring at the cracked paint on the wall of his rundown apartment.

The light from a single bare bulb flickered above him, casting unsteady shadows over the cluttered room.

The phone on the coffee table buzzed again, vibrating against the scratched surface like a relentless mosquito.

He didn't bother reaching for it. He already knew who it was.

The landlord.

Ethan ran a hand through his unkempt hair, grimacing as the buzz died out.

A second later, the voicemail notification chimed. He leaned back with a weary sigh, the cushions creaking beneath his weight, and waited for the inevitable flood of guilt-laden anger.

"Grey," the landlord's voice blared through the speaker, loud and accusing. "You've got until the end of the week. Pack your crap and get out. No extensions this time."

Ethan let the phone fall back onto the table, face down, as if doing so could bury the shame he felt every time he heard that voice.

His reflection glared at him from the dark screen of the TV across the room.

His face was rough and hollow, framed by uneven stubble and wild hair. His sunken eyes carried the weight of sleepless nights.

"Look at you," he muttered bitterly.

Three months ago, this wasn't his life. He was a district manager at Newton Development Corp., a job that came with a stable income, respect, and a future. Now? Now, he was nothing.

The memories came flooding back like a tidal wave, each one sharper and crueler than the last.

It had started with the accusations.

They came out of nowhere — a report of half a million dollars missing from the Midtown Heights project, one of the company's most lucrative ventures.

Ethan had been the manager overseeing it, which made him the perfect scapegoat.

At first, he thought it was a mistake. Then, he realized it wasn't just about the missing money. A coworker — a woman he barely knew — claimed he had harassed her.

Ethan clenched his fists as he remembered the HR meeting, the way his coworkers stared at him like he was a criminal. None of them spoke up for him. Not one.

"I didn't do it," he had said, over and over.

But it didn't matter. The decision had already been made.

By the end of the week, he was out of a job. His reputation was in shreds. The news spread fast — first through the company, then through his friends, and finally to his family.

His mom had tried to believe him. She really had. But even she hesitated when the harassment accusation came up.

His sister stopped answering his calls altogether. His friends ghosted him.

The company wasn't done with him either. They slapped him with a $500,000 debt, pinning the missing money squarely on him. He had a month to repay it.

The memory made him feel sick. He spat onto the floor, bitterness bubbling in his throat.

"Bastards," he muttered under his breath.

He got up and paced the small room, his hands running through his hair.

The apartment wasn't much to look at — a boxy living room, a dingy kitchenette, and a bathroom with peeling tiles. The walls were bare, except for a single photo sitting on the counter.

It was him, his mom, and his sister, smiling at some long-forgotten family barbecue.

His chest tightened as he stared at it. Back then, he believed in fairness, in the idea that hard work paid off.

Now, those beliefs felt like naïve fairy tales.

For the briefest moment, a dark thought crossed his mind.

'Maybe it's better to just… end this.'

He clenched his jaw, shaking his head. He couldn't bring himself to do it, no matter how tempting it seemed.

Some part of him, no matter how small, still clung to the idea that things could change.

A loud knock on the door broke his spiraling thoughts.

He froze. The landlord? A debt collector?

The knock came again, followed by a voice: "Delivery for Ethan Grey!"

Ethan blinked. A delivery? He wasn't expecting anything.

Opening the door cautiously, he saw a delivery man holding a small brown box.

"Sign here," the man said, shoving a clipboard toward him.

Ethan scribbled his name, took the box, and closed the door. He stared at it for a moment, his brow furrowed.

There was no return address. Just his name in bold black letters.

He sat back down and opened it. Inside was a sleek black phone and a folded piece of paper.

He unfolded the note, reading the neatly typed message:

"For those at their lowest, a chance to rise. Use it wisely."

"What the hell?" Ethan muttered.

He picked up the phone, and the moment his fingers brushed the screen, it lit up. Words appeared in glowing text:

[Investment System Activated]

Ethan's pulse quickened as more text followed.

[Welcome, Ethan Grey. Your potential has been recognized. This system will provide you with the means to rebuild your life. Success depends on your ability to make strategic physical investments.]

His brow furrowed, confusion mixing with disbelief.

[Starter Pack Awarded: $1,000,000]

His breath caught in his throat. "What?!"

Ethan stared at the screen, his hands trembling. A million dollars? He couldn't believe it.

To test the claim, he pulled out his old phone and logged into his bank app.

His jaw dropped when he saw the balance: $1,000,473.25.

"This… this has to be a joke," he whispered, but his heart was racing.

More text appeared on the new phone.

[Recommended Investment]

[Item: Renovation of Abandoned Food Truck]

[Location: Johnson's Lot, 3rd Avenue[

[Investment Cost: $12,000]

[Potential ROI: High[

Ethan's mind reeled. A food truck? Of all things?

But then, as he stared at the glowing screen, a spark ignited within him. It was faint, but it was there — a glimmer of hope.

Ever since the accusation came in, the world… everyone in it, they had been trying to push him down. Now, for the first time, he had a chance to push back.

Notice: Limitless The Strongest Revenant will be on Hiatus till May 2025. I will return afterwards to resume the novel. Enjoy the Read! - Yinghuo_392 ______ "If you intended to die anyway, don't die quietly like a pussy! Go out in a fucking blaze of glory!" That was the statement that changed my world forever. I was a loser in life. I died and got reincarnated into a Revenant. Revenants were people who defended the living from the dead. In exchange for a second life, they had one task and were blessed with one cheat ability. The task? To kick as much zombie ass as possible. Unfortunately, my cheat just made me "Rewind". It didn't give me super strength, speed or the ability to fly. Hell, it didn't even give me a way to fight! Without any way to kill zombies, I nearly died on my first day on the job! Back then I remember crying and puking all over the place like a little bitch. But while I started out like a little bitch, I didn't stay one. Dying full of regrets changed me you see. So much so that I made a promise. I refused to repeat my mistakes when I was human. Reborn as a Revenant, I will never bow down to anyone ever again. Unfortunately, these Revenant bastards were old school. Like they hacked zombies with swords and all that crap old school. As a man born in the USA, I saw no reason why I needed to follow their outdated way of thinking. The modern world had the superpower of gun powder and lead. So instead of swords, I came after every zombie I saw with guns. Like countries in the middle east, I proceeded to blow the motherfuckers to kingdom come. And surprisingly because of "Rewind", I found out I could never run out of ammunition. $200 for each kill. Hefty bonus for each area of hell liberated. What scared normal people shitless suddenly allowed me to earn millions every day. The richer I got the more "Freedom" I could unleash! Mortars, tanks, air strikes to even nukes. Backed by modern science and technology, I slowly but surely drove the undead back. Along the way, I met and saved seven heavenly beauties. And all of them fell in love with me. They were a little obsessive, scratch that, they were all fucking insane. My precious harem was comprised of nothing but Yanderes in every sense of the word. Still, I would willingly burn the entire world for any of them. For when I called, only my battle harem answered. And that was even before I learned of another secret. Exchanging bodily fluids with my girls gave me their cheats. Suddenly, in contrast to every Revenant in the world who only had one, I alone wielded eight. One from each girl plus my own. And so unfolded my 2nd life. Which eventually became my legend. Who am I you ask? I was born as John Smith. But these days not even my girls use that name. Both on Earth and in Hell everyone else just calls me Limitless. And I am the Strongest Revenant. *************************** Author Notes: Harem size: 7 | No NTR | No Yuri | No Grape Novel Focus: Action, Adventure, Urban Fantasy, Reincarnation, Dark, Weak to Strong, Battle Harem, Beautiful Heroines, YANDERE Heroine, Military, Loyal Subordinates, Kingdom Building, War, Politics, Conspiracies, Overpowered, Face Slapping, Tragedy, Character Development, Multiple POVs, Betrayal, Alternate Realities, Demons, Zombies, Superpowers, Tower Climbing, Tower Defense, Wish fulfillment. honestly I would have given this a 5 stars but its annoying the way author's will make the mc so pitiful and everyone is against him, even his family it will not be described properly why thus man's family is against him. its not like he had issues with them b4 hand they were a happy family then one accusation is enough to make them point against him and ignore him when he's at his lowest for months, then once it's revealed he is innocent they will come back asking for forgiveness. but these are the same people who left him when he was about to go homeless, but switched h up so fast. even his sister who was by far the worst out of them all, this woman called this man out in public. then when the truth is revealed she didn't even properly apologise and was still acting angry.y issue with this whole plot of everyone is against the mc in the beginning then he proves them wrong and becomes rich is so overused and annoying. Its annoying bc these authors never make a satisfactory method to resolve it.Right now the mc went to his family home after ignoring their calls for a while (which was a good move on his part) then when he arrives he doesn't display how angry he is or how wrong it was for them to do what they did or straight up yell at them and accusations them for not ha ing his back, the IMBECILE basically just accepts their apology over some dinner, all the while the idiots sister is still acting bitchy. it was a really nice series up until this point and I would have rated it 5 stars if not for this issue, the writing pace, development and charactes were pretty good actually but I will be dropping this going forward, it is pretty annoying based on the fact I was binging it,heh, another author making rubbish stupid mistakes in a good novel.
