57 Chapter 57

After returning home, Sherry and Roxanne went to freshen up and prepare Dinner, while I opened my Job settings.

[Job Setting

Acquired Job: Villager Level 25, Thief Level 20, Hero Level 20, Farmer Level 1, Explorer Level 31, Swordsman Level 1, Warrior Level 30, Merchant Level 15, Wizard Level 30, Herbalist Level 1, Monk Level 18, Alchemist Level 20, Sex Maniac Level 8, Knight Level 1, Bounty Hunter Level 1, Cook Level 1

Set Job: Explorer Level 31, Hero Level 20, Wizard Level 30, Warrior Level 30, Merchant Level 15]

This time in the Vale Labyrinth, we had to fight a greater number of demons, despite only exploring 2 floors compared to Quratar's 4 floors. So the 800x multiplier really shined this time. My Explorer went from 26 to 31, Wizard from 25 to 30, Warrior from 25 to 30, Hero from 17 to 20 and Merchant, one of the easier Jobs to level up, went from Level 1 to Level 15.

And as my Warrior reached Level 30, I unlocked more Jobs.

[Knight

Effect: Increase Endurance (Small), Increase Intelligence (Slight), Increase Spirit (Slight)

Skill: Defense, Appointment, Intelligence Card Operation]

[Bounty Hunter

Effect: Increase Dexterity (Small), Increase Strength (Slight), Increase MP (Slight)

Skill: Dead or Alive]

If you reach Level 30 Warrior, then both Knight and Bounty Hunter Job will be unlocked.

[Cook

Effect: Increase Dexterity (Small), Increase Strength (Slight), Increase Agility (Slight)

Skill: Increased Rate of Rare Drop (Passive), Item Box Operation]

The condition to get this Job is to reach Warrior Level 30 and to have cooked food before.

I was happy to see my Job list expanding, and opening my Level up System brought me more joy. Let's begin with the new Jobs first.

<Knight: Level 1 reward

Accept: Yes No >

The Knight Job is not that common, so I think that the reward should be something good.

<Basic Knight Pack acquired>

There was a click in my brain, unlocking memories I never knew I had. I calmly go through the memories, they were of fighting a shadow enemy while using a one handed sword and a shield. Blocking attacks with the shield and launching counter-attacks with the sword.

I am not sure if I will use a Shield, as even when I was playing games, I was the guy who never used shields. Nevertheless, it's better to have the knowledge than not.

<Bounty Hunter: Level 1 reward

Accept: Yes No >

Bounty Hunter is also an uncommon Job, so it should have a good reward. I mentally click accept.

<Basic Bounty Hunter Pack acquired>

With a familiar click in my brain, I remembered memories long forgotten. The memories were tips and tricks on how to track someone and how to identify clues left behind by a human or a non-human prey.

This Knowledge may prove useful, if I ever need to track someone down. I move on to the next reward.

<Cook: Level 1 reward

Accept: Yes No >

Cook, a Job which is unnecessarily hard to acquire in this world. I was not someone who was that good at cooking in my past life, so maybe this reward would help.

<Basic Cook Pack acquired>

With the oh so familiar click in my brain, I gained memories which didn't seem foreign to me. Going through them I realized that I am a decent cook now, who can cook a dish which should taste good. The different cooking tips I had in my memory were something Basic but would certainly help me.

With all the new Jobs done, I shifted my attention towards my old Jobs.

<Merchant: Level 5 reward

Accept: Yes No >

I first started with Merchant, as although I had 1 platinum coin and around 98 Gold coins with me, it won't be enough if I want to splurge in the coming days. I mentally click accept.

<Basic Merchant Pack #2 acquired:

-Gold coin x 50>

A coin pouch materialized in my hand. I opened it, and it was filled with yellow coins. This reward pleasantly surprised me, as the reward for Level 1 Merchant was just 10 Gold coins, so I wasn't expecting to get 50 of them at once.

I kept the pouch aside and shifted my attention to another window.

<Merchant: Level 10 reward

Accept: Yes No >

A Level 10 reward must be better than a Level 5 one, so I had great expectations from this reward. I clicked accept, praying for a platinum coin.

<Basic Merchant Pack #3 acquired:

-Platinum coin x 1>

A single coin appeared in my hand, I looked at it and smiled widely seeing the Purple color of the coin. My prayers were really answered, I thank the Gacha Gods and click on another window.

<Merchant: Level 15 reward

Accept: Yes No >

This is the Last reward from the Merchant Job, I am already satisfied with the rewards I had obtained but still I would love to get another platinum coin.

<Basic Merchant Pack #4 acquired:

-Gold coin x 50>

A coin pouch materialized in my hand, I opened it and found the familiar yellow coins. It wasn't platinum but getting another 50 gold is also very good.

All the rewards from the Merchant Job consisted of Money, is the Level up system counting all of this as a Starting fund? I shake my head of these thoughts and focus on another reward.

<Wizard: Level 30 reward

Accept: Yes No >

I chose Wizard Job next, as it was the one with the most predictable rewards. I mentally click accept.

<Basic Wizard Pack #7 acquired:

-Magic Gem(0/10)>

A white Gem materialized in my hand, I wasn't surprised because I was expecting it to be the case. It is good to have more of this Gem because I can only fill the gem with a single element spell. As the two other Gems were reserved for Fire and Sand, I can store Water Spells in this one.

I keep the Gem aside and focus on another reward.

<Warrior: Level 30 reward

Accept: Yes No >

A Level 30 reward should be a good one. The Level 20 Warrior reward gave me a very important skill so I am looking forward to this one. I mentally click accept.

<Basic Warrior Pack #7 acquired

-Intimidating Glare>

A skill, nice! I immediately click on it to see what it entails.

[Intimidating Glare: The user is capable of intimidating others simply by glaring at them.]

A simple and clear description. But instead of the pros my mind instantly thinks about demons like Needle wood or Naive Olive, who don't have eyes, would the skill work on them too? I will have to investigate.

Nevertheless, it is still quite a useful skill, although I don't know if it will work on Bosses who have a strong resistance to abnormal statuses. I move on to the next rewards.

<Explorer: Level 30 reward

Accept: Yes No >

Explorer rewards are some of the best rewards, I rub my hand in excitement and mentally click accept.

<Basic Explorer Pack #7 acquired:

-Explorer's Lesser Mana Potion>

A clear Glass Vial with a blue stopper materialized in my hands. Recognising this familiar reward, I used Appraisal on it.

[Explorer's Lesser Mana Potion

- 20 ml (reusable)]

I filled the Vial with water and shaked it three times and the water changed to blue. A mana potion and according to Appraisal it is a lesser one, so would there be a Greater one too?

I had already distributed metal canisters filled with health potions to Roxanne and Sherry, I will have to do the same for this one. I myself have my Magic gem with me to replenish my Mana capacity, so this isn't that useful for me, but still an unlimited supply of mana potion is incredible.

<Hero: Level 20 reward

Accept: Yes No >

The last reward, and that too a Level 20 reward for the Hero Job, so it should be something good. I mentally click accept while praying for a good reward.

<Basic Hero Pack #5 acquired:

-Opportunity Sense(Passive)

-Platinum coin x 1>

A single coin appeared in my hand, I stared at the purple coin in pleasant surprise. Well this is the second purple coin I got today, still it doesn't diminish my happiness. Now I really won't have to worry much about my near future expenses.

But does the system really think that only Money is necessary for becoming a Hero? Or is it something like money can solve all your problems? I just chuckle to myself and shift my attention to the newly acquired skill.

[Opportunity Sense (Passive): The user can sense opportunities in any situation for most useful actions to gain what they seek or want.]

Another skill with no obvious usage. Maybe this would come in handy during fights? But anyway the skill does sound useful.

With the reward session concluded, I turn my attention to the newly acquired Jobs. Although Appraisal doesn't show the detailed Skill description, I can still recall them from my memory of the og story.

[Defense: Raises Defense of the party for a short amount of time]

A skill which perfectly suits the Knight class. Despite having the Plating skill from the Alchemist Job, Defense can serve as an additional layer of protection.

[Appointment: Appoint someone else as the Village Chief]

An overpowered skill, as it can forcefully change someone's Job to Village Chief. But if that person has a Job with Item Box as a skill and he has items in it, then he would still gain the Village Chief Job but it won't be changed to it.

It's a shame that you can't appoint yourself as the Village Chief or else I would have gained another Job.

The Last skill, Intelligence Card Operation is the same skill that the Village Chief Job has. It lets you bring out another person's Intelligence Card and even add Slave Status to it.

The Knight Job surely does have some Overpowered Skills.

[Dead or Alive: Instantly Kills a target, has a very low success rate]

Bounty Hunter's single skill, it is a skill with an abysmally low success rate. In the OG story Michio was able to activate it only once, even after attempting it for days. Perhaps it depends on luck? If that's the case, then I might have a better chance at activating it.

There is a reason why Cook Job has the Skill called Increase rate of Rare Drop, it is because it increases the rare drops of only food items from demons and not anything else. Well still rare food drops would surely be tastier, so it's still a good skill.

A Job called Cook without a single cooking skill in it, this is really a Labyrinth centric world.

I think about the Item Box, and a rectangular black void appears underneath my hand. It is the opening for my Item box. I insert my hand inside it and a Visual Image appears inside my head.

I can see empty rectangular boxes of the same size in my mind, the boxes are arranged in 10 columns with 6 rows and a single box in the 7 row.

The left 5 columns represent the Item Box from my Explorer Job, which currently stands at Level 31, providing 31 corresponding boxes and I can stack up to 31 items in a single Item Box. For example, I can keep a maximum of 31 silver coins in a single box and 31 gold coins in another box.

The Item Box from the Explorer Job increases in both number and size with the subsequent increase of its level.

The 5 columns on the right side are the Item Box from the Cook Job, the Item Box of this Job remains fixed at 30 x 30, regardless of the Job level.

I don't use the Item Box skill much since it can only store items from the dungeon, and each type of item occupies a separate box, making it cumbersome. However, if I hadn't obtained the Backpack as a reward from the Level up System then I would also have to rely on this Item Box.

Now equipped with the Cook Job, I make my way towards Kitchen, eager to test my culinary skills and see how proficient of a cook I have become.
