Apology note

On getting out, Oscar was right there. He sat on the stairs adjacent to the principal’s office. That stair led to the junior high staff room. I was sure he had to deal with people going up and down. He didn’t seem daunted by that. When our eyes met, he scurried to me.

“I’m sorry I took so long.” I almost forgot he mentioned waiting for me. He held my hands with so much care.

“It’s ok. How did it go?”

We strutted towards the class as I explained, “And so, I’ll be addressing the public in 2 hours, giving a formal apology for my actions.”

The shock on his face curled into wrath. His raucous voice raised, and I was tempted to shut him up, “They can’t make you do that. It's crazy! Why should you take the fall? No way. I’m going to the principal‘s office.”
