1 Chapter 1: The Blue Screen

Today was like any other day. Ryan woke up to his alarms going off to get up for work. He couldn't roll over to catch a few more minutes of sleep due to his smart lights. He set them on a timer to turn on when the alarms go off. Left with no choice he rolled out of bed to face another day of work.

After a nice long hot shower to wake himself up Ryan stood in front of his foggy mirror looking at the man looking back at him. He was just shy of 30 years old blonde hair blue eyes average height at 5 foot 10 and slightly over weight. His looks where average but so was he.

He got dressed like normal nothing special just a comfortable pair of bluejeans and a shirt and tied up his old work boots. Before heading out he looked back as his small one bedroom apartment taking it all in in one glance making sure everything was where it was suppose to be before turning back and heading out.

Getting into his old car that had seen better days he drove down the familiar path to the local factory where he works using the cold Virginia morning air to help wake him up for another long day of work.

Ryan got to work early and read some light novels on his phone in the car till it was time to go clock in. It was a normal day of work working on an assembly line for eight hours. Reading on his breaks and eating by himself at lunch another day passed like so many before it. After getting home he watched some TV and made himself some dinner.

While cleaning up after dinner Ryan suddenly stopped. Floating in front of him was some semi-transparent blue screens with white letters. Wherever he turned they remained in front of him. When he reached out to touch them his hand went thru them but when he touched where they where in the air and moved his finger around he found they would move to so he could move them and organize them.

[Congratulations people of Planet 87493246185 (Earth). Due to a recent revision of the Galactic Sentient Species Acceptance Policy (GSSAP) the accepted age of a species to be accepted on a galactic level has been reduced from 350,000 years to 300,000 years. As such your species can now be accepted as a base level (Producer/ Fighter) level species. Due to your race and many others being accepted at the same time due to this new policy a new system has been set up to accelerate your development.

After observing your species culture and literary works some of your concepts have been accepted as the core of the new system to accelerate the adaptive period for your people to meet the minimum Galactic Standard for sentient life. This system will be used by all new species to meet the standard or to die trying. Best wishes and hope your species survives.]

[A five year grace period has been given after which all Adaptive Species will be given full access to all of the other Adaptive Species home worlds.]

Ryan stood there looking at the blue screens in front of his eyes for a long time. He would have thought he was dreaming but know he wasn't. He liked some of the things he saw on the screens but know many people wouldn't want to accept some of them.

Most of the changes would make the world like a game and people would love to get stronger but it will also lead to people wanting to rule the world. Most of the world might fall into chaos but with a five year deadline people will have to work together or the other species will come and take over the planet. One of the biggest questionable parts of the system is the slavery system many will reject it and many will try to take advantage of it. Even if governments bane it with the Galactic System controlling it there is nothing they can do to shut it down or control it only punish those openly using it.

There where lots of questions created and left unanswered like how many species where out there? Who was in charge of the System? What where the Classes? And many more but for Ryan there was only one most important question right now. Where was the nearest Town Hall at?
