Sui Generis

The loading screen slowly faded.

Eirwyn found himself in a middle of nothingness, his clothes that he wore inside the game at that moment were the same in the real life.

Everything was white and empty, he could not see anything aside from the floor that seems never ending.

A deep rich voice sounded out behind him.

Eirwyn turned back on the direction where the voice came from.

"Welcome player to The Halcyon Expanse!" A giant armadillo speaking with a Portuguese accent. It donned literally with scale armor waved its sharp claws to Eirwyn.

"Who... uhm... what are you?" Eirwyn scratched his head from curiosity.

"I'm Armado the Armored Armadillo Armorer! Its time and we shall begin to select your very own Sui Generis!" Armado introduced itself as it swung its claw to its chest proudly.

A window appeared in front of Eirwyn.

'Cling!'

"Hmm... so this is my innate personality." Eirwyn wondered as he nodded his head.

"As a matter of fact, innate personality varies to all players. You can choose a class that you want as long it suits to your elemental affinity. Halcyon is not restricted to conventional class types. Classes in Halcyon are called Sui Generis." Armado informed Eirwyn. It was its job to teach new players about the basics.

"I see." Eirwyn nodded.

Scattered white particles of light gathered and materialized into a wide array of weapons floating in the air surrounded Eirwyn and Armado.

All weapons were arranged and separated into different classifications: bladed and edged weapons including axes and daggers; blunt weapons including whips and knuckles; projectile and throwing weapons; pole weapons; and lastly, the staves and wands.

"Kindly select two types of weapons you desire. You will wield it throughout the entire game. The weapons you've seen only have common rarity and it will serve as your starting weapon." Armado politely directed him.

"Hmm... if that is the case, what weapon type I choose will be permanent and cannot use other types of weapons?" Eirwyn was somewhat confused.

"Indeed you are correct." Armado nodded.

"Okay. Thank you Armado." Eirwyn quite understood. The experience and knowledge that he accumilated in years playing VRMMORPGs helped him to comprehend and didn't ask any questions.

He walked towards a section with blunt weapons and picked up a simple hammer, then he went to the bladed weapons and lay his hands on an ordinary longsword.

Eirwyn walked without hurry towards Armado the Armored Armadillo Armorer.

"I want these two." Eirwyn showed his hands to Armado while holding a plain hammer and a longsword sheathed inside the scabbard.

"Very well. We will proceed to the final phase, the awakening." Armado became excited.

The arsenal vanished unexpectedly without a trace.

An elegantly designed column pedestal made out of white marble came into sight straightaway from the shining bright light.

On the top of it was a sphere composed with crystal clear quartz emanated with a dense mystical essence.

"Player, place your hands towards the crystal ball," Armado instructed him.

Eirwyn followed and put both of his hands on the smooth surface of the crystal ball right away.

"Close your eyes shut. Clear your mind. Concentrate. Conceptualize. Imagine what class you yearn for."

The crystal ball began to gradually emit light. The mystical essence began to react intensely.

The white light changed into a bright blue color all of a sudden.

A strong and fast-moving stream of water gushed out from the crystal sphere along with surging cold snow. The temperature of the air dropped rapidly.

Eirwyn took in and mentally grasped the vision that came into existence within his mind.

"Now! Call out your Sui Generis!" Armado yelled in the midst of disturbance so Eirwyn could hear him.

"Swordsmith of the Winterforge!" Eirwyn shouted with all his might.

The vicious forces of torrent and snowstorm swirled in the air as they began to merge towards Eirwyn. The collision of two different elements burst violently and loudly.

Eirwyn remained unscathed even the impact was very powerful.

The mystical essence began to dwindle at once as the crystal ball completely shattered into small fragments.

"Congratulations Blizz! You have successfully awakened into Frostblade of the Winterforge!" Armado happily applauded with his sharp claws.

"Thank you, thank you!" Eirwyn was thrilled and euphoric.

'Cling!'

A window popped up in front of Eirwyn.

ー 〔 Swordsmith of the Winterforge 〕 ー

An artificer gifted with the ability to conjure water and ice. Capable to forge burning hot metal into powerful swords with his hammer. Adept to swordsmanship, each stroke of his blade give off bone-chilling air and moves fluidly like the flow of water.

"Since you were successfully awakened, you are ready to set forth on a journey to the vast lands of Halcyon!" Armado swung its claw.

The pedestal vanished into thin air.

A circular teleportation magic array with complex arcane symbols formed on the floor, it was glimmering with bright light.

Eirwyn tightly gripped his hammer and sword. He felt the extreme excitement and intense passion.

"I wish you good fortune in your travels. Farewell, my friend." Armado sent his best wishes to Eirwyn as it smiled and waved its claw.

Eirwyn stepped on the magical array. His body was enshrouded with bright white light and dematerialized into smaller particles.

"Goodbye, I hope I'll see you again Armado." Eirwyn smiled waved back.

Eirwyn didn't know that was the first and also the very last time he met Armado the Armored Armadillo Armorer.
