7 The Plan

"What are we going to do,you know everybody in this school knows that the friend she has in this school is us, wait did you confirm the news?" asked Betty who looked so troubled and worried at the same time ". " look Betty we have to carry out a plan and a fast one at that " Linda said. Betty looking at her said "which plan are you talking about?"

"Betty I know this might sound crazy to you but pretend like nothing happened and tell no one about this, I repeat tell no one about this, hope am clear" Linda said drawing Betty's ears. Betty removed her hands from her ears" indeed it sounds crazy,do you know the danger and consequences in what you just said, pretend for how long? what if they later find out the truth and it will be that we have been lying to them all this while, what do you think they will do to us,is better we all join her to world beyond before they find out, but if I may ask for what reason?" .Linda looked at her wondering if she had a better option. "Betty you just talked like a small kid as if you don't know what is at hand,now wait let me clear you, the whole school will get to find out about the ill fated air crash she was involved in and you know she never told chief her real name,before you know it her parents will get to find out about it and they will now descend on us with a lot of questions and there is no how we will deny it because already everybody now knows about it,and so like I said earlier, the best way is to act like nothing happened good a thing her body wasn't recognized it was burnt to ashes,so when people start talking and asking questions we will join them, if her parents ask us we can fake missing or kidnap".Linda said looking at her deeply in the eyes. " that sounds like a nice idea,I hope it works out fine " Betty said looking sad, "It will work out fine just that we have to carry this torture for the rest of our lives till God knows when but we must not tell a word to anybody" said Linda looking all serious. "no problem I have heard you but truth be told what we are about doing is a despicable act,it is evil" said by Betty knowing fully well that they don't have any other option left". Linda looked at her so angry right now "look Betty are you in or not just tell me and stop making me look like a devil itself, if you have a better option why not say it or you forever keep quiet and let's execute our plans, with that no harm shall befall us nor anybody trying to hunt us down because they might be thinking we have a hand in her death or know more about it",with that she stood up to leave but Betty held her back" Linda come on we have a big problem at hand, and what you are trying to do won't help, I have heard what you said, we shall carry out the plan because we don't have an option ". Linda feeling sorry for trying to be harsh replied" Betty all am doing is just for own safety, look am not being wicked or evil, am also afraid as you are,since I heard about her death, I felt my heart been ripped out from my chest,I couldn't even bear the news, I know we are all hurt but this is not the time for self pity,so please let's make this work,and don't forget do not tell a word to anybody about Rita, hope am understood",Linda said with all authority. "okay no problem". replied Sophie . Linda was about stepping out and remembered something that brought her back" we will call Rita's parents and tell them about there missing daughter, the truth shall never be told as it will forever hunt us till our last day on earth "

"mother" Sophie called out looking surprised and shocked on why her mother could indulge in such plan,her mum reading her mind said"you don't have to Blame like us like that,as of then that was the only option left, we had to do anything just to protect ourselves". Sophie said " okay mother I understand, so what later happened ". Linda smiling said" good my child,go and get me a glass of water before I continue ". " okay mum "Sophie said and ran out to get the water. Few minutes later she came back" here mum". Linda took the cup and drank small and dropped the rest at the sit near to her

Few weeks later Linda and Betty continued their usual lifestyle, and carried out their normal activities like nothing ever happened. Soon rumors were everywhere that Rita z missing for weeks. One evening they came back from lectures,they ate,took their bath and retired to the bed,nobody spoke to each other because what happened the other week came as a shock to them. "Linda I think we should call Rita's parents and let them know about their missing child, is been a week now,what do you think?" Betty said breaking the silence. " yes is true,we will call them tomorrow morning am sure they will be sick worried about her now "Linda replied looking sad. Betty stood up from her bed and went to Linda's" I know this is really hard for us because we lost our dear friend, I only ask God to give her parents the fortitude to bear the pain" Linda replied with tears on her eyes"in as much as I try to be calm and us pretending like nothing happened outside, deep down Betty my heart is broken"..
