2 Chapter 2: Linda's entry into the higher institution

Linda finally found her way into her new room,immediately she stepped in a voice from behind called "hello". Linda replied back" Hi are you the member of this room"

The hostel room is indeed a small one for a first year student like her but she didn't mind at all once she has already gained her admission into the university, because it took her few years before seeking for admission in the school and now she finally got it,staying in a small room with four beds at each corner wasn't her problem at all,once the place is very conducive for reading her books.

As she looked around her room thinking of a corner to choose,the same voice called out from behind her saying" That corner at the far end is not taken yet,is all yours if you want ,oh no I am so sorry,forgive my manners, my name is Betty and you are?". Linda who isn't listening but was busy checking if the corner will suit her or not. Betty called again "hey I am talking to you" . Linda suddenly came back to her senses and said " oh I am so sorry, I was lost in thoughts, am Linda by name a first year student of this great institution "she said bringing out her had for a handshake with Betty. Betty quickly returned the handshake. Linda immediately said" I can see you are already settled" Betty replied with a beautiful smile" oh yes,I came in earlier, when students are still busying sorting out their hostel accommodation and the rest because they came in late like you,I have already done mine, so am just settled and relaxed "

Linda said regretting why she didn't make it early "oh I see good for you".

Betty looked and saw she was still carrying her luggage said" can I help you please unpack and also make you feel at home, you are welcome dear" Linda seeing her kind gesture "thank you so much I really appreciate". Linda looked at her again and couldn't believe such a wonderful beauty to behold,Betty is indeed a pretty girl but not too pretty, with her 5ft 11 inches height and her long slender hips"

Before noon they have finished cleaning and dusting their room and had their shower. Linda laid down in her bed and bought out a novel to read. Betty seeing her with a novel was glad because she too loves reading novels, and so immediately asked" can I have more of the novels ". Linda looked at her smiling thanking God that she has actually found her reading mate" sure you can, I know I came with few of them" she said bringing out one and gave it to her. Betty was really happy and thanked her. They all read in silence

It is past evening and is time for dinner, Linda felt hungry she asked yawning and looking more exhausted "please is there any canteen where I can buy food around,am so hungry right now" Betty nodded implying yes,they got dressed and left for the canteen.

On there way to the school canteen,Linda looked around and saw students passing up,some carrying books around heading for night class,she has actually leaved in a boarding school but that was in her secondary school were students were not giving free permission to move around, all students are always indoors from morning till night. but here seems different she thought to herself, because students are allowed to mover or go anywhere they feel like without strict restrictions unlike her secondary school days,students especially female putting on short dresses leaving the school compound without anybody giving them rules and regulations, she couldn't help but think allowed "this is real freedom indeed"

They were approaching the school canteen as she can hear the aroma of the food from afar,she cleared her throat and couldn't wait to munch the food. She smiled as the canteen door opened"I am going to love this food" Betty turned and said "I was really hungry but with the aroma of this food I will surely eat to my satisfaction" They both laughed.

They all sat down and took there orders and immediately there food was brought to them, within few minutes they finished.

After cracking jokes and laughing, Betty started" you really seem like nice and free person Linda, please can I know more about you" Linda smiled and said" I don't really have an interesting story to tell about you, please let me not bore you with my story" . Betty looked at her wondering what exactly can be boring and noticing how uncomfortable the question made her to feel, she quickly replied " I am so sorry if I am trying to make to you feel bad, but I was just trying to know more about my friend turned to be a roommate" Linda smiled and said"Okay my name is Linda and... erm erm " "I know that" Betty interrupted and they started laughing again. There bills was brought to them for payment. Betty paid amidst Linda's protest. They left for there hostel

The following day,very early in the morning woke Linda up by tapping her on her shoulder, "oh no Betty what is it again, I don't want to wake up now am still feeling very sleepy" Linda said waking up,stretching her hands and legs, yawning at the same time,remembering were she was and how tiring her journey was. Betty stood her up saying "good morning Linda remember today is registration day at the department and if we do not hurry,the bathroom might get congested" Linda hearing those words rushed out of the room carrying her toiletries to the bathroom followed by Betty. Being the only occupants in the room they enjoying their privacy and quiet time,when they suddenly had a knock at d room,a tall beautiful walked in with her own luggage...
