51 Chapter 51: Giant

As Hermione pondered whether to spend the night in the washroom, a pair of feet suddenly appeared in her field of vision.

"Please don't mind me, just let me be alone here!" Hermione said stubbornly.

She had encountered several such people this afternoon. It was bad enough that they didn't come to comfort her, but to come and gawk at her misfortune was downright despicable!

"Anyway, no one really cares about me. I don't need those fake sympathies," she thought to herself.

"I think you must be hungry. I heard you've been here all afternoon, and this is not a good place to rest," unexpectedly, Hermione heard a boy's voice!

Surprised, she looked up to see Bell's figure.

"Bel!? This is the girls' washroom, how could you come in!?"

"What's the big deal? Nobody will come here at this time. Everyone's at the hall for the feast."

Bell felt like his words were a bit off. Illusion! It must be an illusion!

Hermione stared at Bell in surprise for a while before lowering her head again, resignedly saying, "Just leave me alone, no one cares about me anyway. Everyone can't stand me, they think I'm annoying and meddling. I just don't have any friends."

"Oh," Hermione wondered if it was her imagination, but Bell's voice seemed somewhat dejected.

"I thought I finally made a friend, but was it just my wishful thinking all along?"

Once again surprised, Hermione looked up at Bell's retreating figure.

"Wait, what did you just say?"

"Nothing, just talking to myself, don't mind," Bell said without turning back.

"Wait! Bell!"

Hermione suddenly stood up, but because she had been sitting for too long, her legs were a bit numb. She leaned against the wall to avoid falling. Fortunately, Bell was the type who appeared thin but was actually quite strong, so he didn't mind her weight.

"I'm sorry! Bell! I mean, I... I've always considered you a friend too!"

Bell stopped, but still with his back to Hermione.

"Didn't you say you didn't have any friends?"

"I'm sorry, I... I forgot about you..."

Hermione's voice grew smaller and smaller.

"Well, I forgive you," Bell turned around and smiled at Hermione. "So, can we go eat dinner now? I'm starving."

Life is like a drama, all about acting skills.

"Yeah."

Blushing, Hermione nodded, completely unaware that she had been played.

"Can you help me up? My legs are a bit numb."

Bell helped Hermione up and slowly walked towards the exit of the washroom. However, as soon as they stepped out, a foul stench hit them. They looked in the direction of the smell and saw a giant figure.

The figure was over 3 meters tall, with gray skin like granite. Despite its huge and muscular body, it had a disproportionately small head the size of a soccer ball. Its legs were short but sturdy, ending in flat feet. Its arms were long, holding a thick, long stick and dragging it along the ground as it walked.

The disgusting odor emanated from it, combined with its intimidating size, made people instinctively want to stay away.

"Bell! It's...it's a giant!"

Hermione's already weak legs gave out even more. She leaned heavily on Bell, barely managing to stay upright. Fortunately, Bell was used to supporting his little sister at home, so he didn't mind her weight.

"I read about giants in books. It says only adult wizards can defeat giants on their own. What should we do!?"

"Don't be afraid, Hermione," Bell said, rubbing Hermione's hair to comfort her.

After rubbing her hair, Bell realized that his behavior seemed inappropriate. He was used to doing this to his sister at home and did it subconsciously. Fortunately, Hermione's attention was fully on the giant, and she didn't pay attention to those details.

"Giants are actually very friendly creatures and easy to talk to. Look at me."

Bell turned to the giant. In a place where Hermione couldn't see, Bell's eyes changed. It was a look Hermione had never seen before, a predatory gaze, a gaze that scorned everything. Bell infused his magic with killing intent and directed it towards the giant.

"Hey buddy! You stink, can you please go away?" This was a magic technique Bell developed out of boredom. It was well known that some spells required emotions to be incorporated into them, such as the "Patronus Charm", the "Killing Curse", and the "Blazing Charm". So Bell thought, what would happen if extreme emotions were mixed into magic?

The result was the little trick Bell was using now, which could create a kind of oppressive effect. The more sensitive the target was, the better the effect.

Although the giant wasn't very smart, to be precise, it had no brains. But as a species that had survived through the law of the jungle for hundreds or even thousands of years, its instincts were still intact. Perhaps it was precisely because it was stupid that its instincts were sharper?

The giant looked at Bell, scratched its head, and then stared blankly for a few seconds before wandering off in another direction.

"You see, I was right," Bell resumed his carefree demeanor, turning back to Hermione with a triumphant smile.

Hermione was at a loss. "This isn't right, isn't this different from what the books say!?"

Hermione suspected that Bell was fooling her. But the fact was right in front of her, the giant did leave after Bell told it to. Wasn't there a problem with that?

"There's no problem at all!"

"Even the friendliest creatures would smack you if you told them to leave like that!"

Bell helped Hermione walk in the opposite direction of the giant.

"Okay, let's forget about the giant for now. What do you want for dinner? I'll have Lym make it."

As for what would happen to the giant? It wasn't Bell's responsibility to deal with it. Otherwise, old Deng might get angry. The anger of the greatest white wizard was not something Bell could afford now. Let's talk about it after he graduated.

"No!"

Hermione, who was quick-witted, stopped Bell in his tracks.

"We have to stop it! Bell, we can't let a giant roam around the castle, it's too dangerous!"

"Oh?"

Bell looked unwilling.

"Hermione, we're just kids! If we bear such heavy responsibilities now, what if we don't grow up in the future? You know, my goal is to be 185 centimeters tall."
