Chapter 45: "The World Will Burn Under My Fury!"

Bell gathered his scattered thoughts and realized he had digressed a bit.

Unlike the three major unforgivable curses, the Fiendfyre curse was truly powerful. At least in Bell's view, the Fiendfyre curse was nearly perfect. It had immense power, low consumption, and was difficult to evade. The only drawback was its difficult control, making it prone to self-immolation. Bell's goal was to address this control issue.

If Bell were to voice his ideas, it would surely garner disdain from many wizards, even dark wizards, because to them, the Fiendfyre curse wasn't as powerful as believed.

The so-called "devilish flames that burn everything" were mostly just empty boasts.

However, if they had carefully studied the previous Dark Lord Grindelwald, they would never have such thoughts. Without Nicolas Flamel's intervention, Grindelwald's Fiendfyre curse could have completely destroyed Paris, killing tens of thousands, even millions of people.

After researching various relevant materials and personally witnessing the Fiendfyre curse cast by his own parents, Bell discovered the problem.

The Fiendfyre curse cast by wizards nowadays wasn't actually the true "Fiendfyre" but rather a flame simulated forcibly by magic based on the wizards' thoughts after understanding the power and characteristics of Fiendfyre. Hence, the power of the Fiendfyre they cast wasn't high; it was just slightly stronger than ordinary fire curses.

As mentioned earlier, casting dark magic required injecting negative emotions. This was particularly evident in the Fiendfyre curse. To cast the true "devilish flames that burn everything," extreme emotions had to be injected. And this extreme emotion was the "anger" that wanted to burn everything. Only the utmost rage could ignite the utmost flame.

Before improving the curse, the first thing Bell needed to do was to successfully ignite the true Fiendfyre.

Bell walked into the magic training room, where there was a meditation basin on the table, and some white fluffy objects were slowly rotating in the basin.

Approaching the basin, Bell took out his wand and stirred it in the basin, causing some images to appear above the basin. These were memories Bell had prepared in advance. In order to generate extreme anger in himself, Bell carefully crafted a false memory.

"Lym!" Bell softly called out while confirming his fabricated memory one last time.

With a "pop," Bell's personal house-elf, Lym, appeared by his side.

"Do you have any orders, Master?"

"I'm going to conduct a magical experiment and need your help."

Having confirmed, Bell turned to look at Lym and gestured towards the meditation basin on the table.

"In a while, I'll inject this memory into my brain. You stay aside and watch me. If I lose control, knock me out and extract this memory intact. Remember, it must be extracted intact, neither more nor less."

"Master, isn't this too dangerous? You shouldn't do such risky things. Lord William and Lady Elena wouldn't agree! And how can I attack you!"

Hearing that Bell might lose control, Lym was frightened. She waved her hands, trying to stop Bell's risky behavior.

"I know perfectly well what I should and shouldn't do. Also, today's matter must not be told to anyone! Now, I give you 3 minutes to prepare! Do you have your wand?" Bell said unequivocally.

"Yes, Master, I have it."

Lym took out a wand from her pocket. This wand was made by Bell for all his house-elves. Of course, the power of the wand was far from that of the wands made by Ollivander, but it was much better than having nothing.

"Very well."

Bell took a deep breath and pointed his wand at his head. Before injecting the false memory, to ensure that he wouldn't notice anything unusual, he needed to temporarily seal and modify some of his memories.

Soon, all preparations were complete, and Bell opened his eyes, looking at Lym standing nervously beside him.

"Are you ready?"

"Yes, Master," Lym said after taking a deep breath.

"Remember, if I lose control later, you must immediately attack me with all your strength! You're not hurting me; you're saving me! Got it?"

Seeing Lym nod in understanding, Bell threw his wand to her.

"Quick, hide it."

Lym carefully took her Master's wand and then cast a Disillusionment Charm on herself, cautiously hiding.

Bell spread his palm over the meditation basin. The memories in the basin seemed to be attracted, floating towards Bell's hand, then enveloping his arm and drifting towards his head.

Like water sucked in by a sponge, the white fluffy memories were quickly absorbed into Bell's brain. Bell stood motionless with closed eyes, and for a moment, the training room fell into a deathly silence.

Under Lym's nervous gaze, after an unknown amount of time, Bell finally moved.

Bell slowly lowered his raised arm, trembling slightly all over. Suddenly, he opened his eyes wide. It was hard to believe those were human eyes. His eyes couldn't distinguish between whites and pupils, leaving only a bloody red.

"Ah—!"

A beast-like roar emanated from Bell's mouth, and a powerful magic wave emanated from his body, blowing everything around him away. Robes fluttered without wind, dust rose from the ground, and even the air trembled with Bell's anger.

Bell dashed towards the training room's door but was blocked by a barrier.

In his fury, Bell didn't bother to think much. He gathered magic and concentrated it into his right arm, swinging a fist. However, the barrier in front of him was reinforced earlier by him without a wand, so he couldn't break it with one blow.

After a tremor, the barrier remained intact, but Bell's right arm was heavily injured.

The eruption of powerful magic was far beyond what Bell could bear now. Several deep wounds appeared on his right arm, almost reaching the bone, and blood gushed out. But he seemed completely oblivious to the pain and started channeling magic into his left arm.

"Fall unconscious!"

A sharp voice shouted loudly. Lym finally acted. Initially hesitant, she didn't expect her Master to be so seriously injured so quickly.

At this moment, Lym felt extreme self-blame, almost wishing to end her own life immediately to atone. But there was no time for her to consider so much. Seeing her Master about to engage in self-destructive attacks again, Lym immediately cast a Stunning Spell at Bell.

The sudden attack obviously caught Bell off guard. In his haste to divert magic to his left arm, he could only muster a small amount of magic to form a weak shield behind him.

The shield was shattered upon contact with the spell, and Bell was hit by the Stunning Spell, causing him to collapse forward. However, because Lym had reservations and didn't use full force, Bell didn't lose consciousness completely. He fell to his knees, trying unsteadily to get back up.
