2 The Royal Family

Gyn took the cards in his own hands and decided to tidy up this bit himself. Doing so, he thought of the bet he had lost to Garcia, and felt a headache. The ball party was going to be troublesome. the cards, now neatly arranged, were kept back on the table, the cover of the card had lines engraved onto it, glowing with either a blue or purple color, depending on the person's wishes, and were elegantly crafted.

A little thing he had made to satisfy the amusement of the royal princess of Ayr.

Sometimes, when he thought about how the little girl who was amused by glowing lights had grown up into a graceful lady attending royal ball parties in search of an appropriate husband, all the while managing part of the royal family's administration, he felt like he had seen a small, but precious miracle. Garcia Amel, direct descendant of the king, one of the possible competitors for the throne, a capable and clever girl who knew her way around words, was supposed to be deciding her fiancee tomorrow night, thus declaring her official entrance to the royal scene.

As a woman, she had worked twice as hard to prove her worth to the authoroties under the king. Of course, this was under fair circumstances that Ayr, as a kingdom and a quasi empire, offered. Being eligible for throne and marrying by choice was a privilege that most princesses of kingdoms under Ayr did not get.

Tomorrow, she would decided her to be husband and fiance, and while most of her picks would be based off political power, she had her own choice in who she liked and would be fine marrying. Thus, it was quite an important affair.

Garcia wished to use Gyn to deter those that wished her harm, as well as people who she did not wish to get involved with. Of course, the appearance of Gyn held an impact of its own, as it would give people the chance to interact with him.

It was a small ploy set up by the princess, who meant no harm, but still wished to try her hand.

What made Gyn willing to even attend such an important party which was almost a showcase of Garcia's political might, was that he had made a pact with the king to never interfere in the political situation of the royal family, and that his stance would always be a neutral one regardless of appearance.

Thus, his job tomorrow was basically being an eloquent bodyguard, and nothing more.

As Gyn thought about it more, he felt a headache. In fact he wanted to storm off to the royal court to complain.

'That annoying show off who managed to become king.... must he try to show off every single thing that he thinks he did good? Might as well stick a sign that says "I am a benovelent king and believe in equality of all." The daughter is no better though' This whole event was just stupid. The only thing worth paying attention to was that the princess was getting a fiancee, what getting political power, what political contenders, if the political situation was so tense then why did you come here to play cards. The royal family only had three heirs of which two were princes and the other was the Princess Garcia. Of the two princes, one wished to become some famous adventurer, while the other one was under the tution of Gyn to become a mage, though he did handle the tasks given out by the king very well, and was most likely to become the next king, while Garcia was just messing around and trying her luck. Those three idiots were so close that talking about tension was a joke.

Only those court nobles in front of whom they had to act prim and proper would think that there exists political tension, else one of them becomes ambitious. It has to be said though, these three learned how to act very good.

It was a very stupid but amusing way to keep people in check. Though the king himself wished that there was atleast SOME tension existing to help them grow into capable leaders, as faking something like this was a very dangerous thing to do, as finding this single lie would end up revealing too many things that should be kept secret.

Gyn decided to just stop thinking about this whole affair and went back to his research.

He held his research in a huge empty room, with only a single device in the corner along with a huge mattress covering the floor. The device was a magic tool that would record the changes done to his body and the steps he took which triggered them. It was for analysis. The room was made big in case something went wrong, and was enchanted with a spell that acted as a fail safe for him, after which he could either slowly recover or call for help.

Gyn sat down and connected the magic tool to his body. He ran magic power through his mana path and tried to find place for breakthrough.

Slowly, he immersed himself into research, as day turned into night. About midnight, he suddenly jolted awake, and decided to rest for the day.
