5 Surviving

"What happened?" A loud came waking everyone up from the shock. The leader came out the tent alarmed by the loud sound. "Sean, you killed Sean. I'll fuxking kill you brat." The leader saw the dead body of Sean with a hole in his head. Seeing Nate kneeling on the ground he dashed towards him with the huge blade resting in his shoulder.

The bandits stayed back as they didn't want to get involved between the battles of mages. While they stayed back they also picked their weapons just in case.

Nate was awoken from his shock by the leader's voice. He realized he had no time to worry about killing someone as his own life was at stake. He had died once and he had no plan on dying twice. With his shivering hand, he picked the gun and aimed towards the bandit leader.

With some hesitation, he pulled the trigger but missed the target. His hand was already shaking due to fear and that he missed a shot he panicked and shot few more towards the bandit leader.

'BANG BANG...BANG...BANG'

The huge sound filled the campsite as the bandits took few steps back due to fear. But it was the bandit leader who lost his soul as he felt something graze past his ear. He couldn't see anything as the spell sent by the boy was too fast. Luckily the accuracy of the spell was low but the casting time was insane.

He had never seen a fire spell to be cast so fast and weirdly. The sounds coming from the spells were louder than the low tier lighting spells. The bandit leader thought it was fire attribute spell after seeing the flashes on pistol's muzzle.

But he didn't have time to worry about what and why as the boy was still casting the spells. He quickly brought his blade in front of him and used it as a shield. The blade couldn't cover all his body but important parts like heart, neck, and head could be shielded.

'BANG...BANG... Click Click'

As Nate fired the gun aiming at the bandit leader the bullets ran out as only clicking sound came after the last bullet left the gun. 1 bullet on Sean and other six on the bandit leader. The bullets ran out but fortunately, a single one managed to hit the bandit leader but no traces of joy could be seen on Nate's face.

The bandit leader fell on one knee as he held his another foot which was now bleeding heavily. Nate had managed to hit the leg of bandit leader. Seeing the opportunity Nate stood up and ran deeper in the jungle while holding his stomach. He didn't know where the gun came from but he was not gonna stay there and look for the answer.

Seeing his chance he ran for his life and as for saving the other people, he was no hero. He was just an ordinary guy who valued his life more. Besides even if he wanted to there was no way he could save them by fighting against dozens of bandits at once.

"What are you dimwits waiting for? Chase him. He probably ran out of mana. Kill that fuxking brat" The leader shouted in anger as he looked at the boy who was running. That guy had strange magic not seen or heard by anyone. If he survived then it could be troublesome for his bandit group.

Having a mage as an enemy was never a good thing. Even if that enemy was only a low-level mage. After hearing their boss, few started to chase after Nate while others ran towards their boss to help.

Nate didn't look back and ran as fast as he could but his injuries were acting up. His head felt like it was going to blow and his abdomen was in pain as well. Sean didn't hold back when he punched his gut earlier.

But he couldn't afford to stop now. Nate couldn't see what was ahead as it was already night and the huge trees were blocking the little lights sent by moon and stars. But it did help him escape from the bandits as they couldn't see either.

"ahhhh"

Nate was running blindly and before he knew it he fell. Nate started to roll down the hill as his body slammed against the ground countless times. He passed out before he reached the bottom of the hill. The gun in his hand slowly disappeared as if it never existed while the bandits ran around the forest with fear in their heart as they searched for Nate.

The Bandits continued their search for few hours and went back after they failed to find Nate. Back in the camp, the bandit's boss smacked the messenger of the bad news. The bandit fell to the ground and didn't get up at all but nobody went to help. The others stood in fear as they didn't want to anger their boss any further.

"You dogs, no even that would be a compliment to you guys. You had one job and that was to find an injured boy running for his life. And you can't even do that." The bandit leader stood up using his huge blade as support and headed outside. His trusted and most intelligent lackey had died and he was now left with men who only used their dicks to think.

But the milk had already been spilled and there was nothing he could do. Having a mage as an enemy was not a good thing so he was thinking of leaving the work after selling off today's loot.

The night slowly passed as the sun came back up in the sky warming the cold forest. The silent forest was now filled with noise from various birds and animals.

"Arrrg, fuxk it hurts" Nate woke up slowly after sun rays fell in his face through the gaps of tree leaves. The injury had worsened after falling down the hill but he was thanking the heaven for it not being a cliff. Looking at the bright side it also helped him avoid the bandit's search.

Nate had now countless cuts in his body. His shirt had torn apart during the fall as his teared up sleeves hung from the shoulders not staying on his arms. Mud, dirt, and blood covered his whole body as he struggled to stand up but fell down again. "Hiss" Another sharp pain assaulted Nate as he caught his right leg.

Tears formed in his eyes as he tried silently cried from the pain. Left eye remained shut and had swelled a lot. After laying on the ground silently crying he decided to crawl back towards the campsite. He would not be able to survive in the wild and going back to the road his only chance of survival. He hoped in his heart that the bandits had already left otherwise he would be literally crawling towards his death.

Nate with much struggle started to climb the hill while holding his right legs and use his another arm to crawl up. With snail pace, he managed to climb back on the hill and followed back his footprints towards the camp. He wasn't far off as he fell down the after running for just a few minutes but crawling back took him 2 full hours.

Arriving at the campsite, he breathed a sigh of relief as the bandits had already left along with carriages. The bodies were already disposed inside the jungle to feed the wild animals but the blood from the fights remained.

Bandits only took valuables and other unwanted weights were left behind. Nate crawled towards the campfire and managed to find a pot of water and some leftover burnt meats from the previous night. Nate didn't care about his dirty hands and stuffed the meat in his mouth and finished it in minutes and drank the water as it flowed out from his lips wetting his torn shirt.

"Hopefully someone will pass through here, otherwise I'm dead," Nate said to himself as he sat against a rock and looked at the horizon of the roads and waited for someone to pass through. Slowly his conscious faded as he passed out again from the intense heat from the sun and his injury.

Flies started to hover around Nate as they ate the dried blood from his wound but he didn't notice. After an unknown amount of hours he felt a hand check the pulse in his neck and heard a rough voice but he couldn't make out what the man said. Despite that, a smile emerged in his face because he knew he was saved.
