17 Combat Training

Inside a huge room, a sound of battle was ongoing as the sounds of clashing metal and sharp booms echoed inside the room.

*thud*

One of the people fell down but quickly rolled over to the side and a foot stomped in the place where the person had just fallen. Web-like cracks formed beneath the foot as the dust rose. The fallen person now drenched in blood and sweat crouched in took a defensive stance one hand holding a dagger while another holding a gun pointing at the figure.

This person was Nate and he was staring at Blady with vigilant eyes. 3 months for magic training had long passed and Nate and the others had been transferred to combat training.

Nate had decided to be an assassin so he was separated from Olly and others and was put into intense training under Baldy. Baldy didn't teach him techniques or how to attack or defend he just brought Nate for a spar and the man never went easy on him.

The guns Nate was so proud of became useless as Baldy moved in speed he couldn't react to and all he could do was shoot blindly and defend himself from the attack.

Nate had asked if he was going to learn any techniques that would help him get better and the only answer he got from Blady was "You're learning the technique." and not a sentence more.

The first week was true hell for Nate as he was nothing more than a punching bag for Baldy and Baldy never pulled back his punches. Nate held two pistols in his hand during the first week and fired all the bullets but they eventually ran out. Not a single one hit Baldy as he moved to fast and Nate himself had a terrible aim.

He could barely hit a sitting duck, moving targets were still far from his reach. He found out rather than reloading the gun, summoning new one was much faster but it cost him more mana. Still, the discovery was useful as his hand wouldn't stop shaking when he tried to reload during battle extending his time to reload time. Every second counted in the battle.

The second week he started to use a dagger in his left hand and pistol in his second. After switching between various pistols he found Glock 19 and Walther PPQ were one of the best to use during the combat. They were light, held 15 rounds and fired 9mm bullets.

Still, Nate found himself in bruises and cuts at the end of the day. "Broken bones heal stronger" that was Blady's quote at the end of every day and Nate started to cruse the enhanced regeneration abilities. The light bruises would disappear in a single night and broken bones healed in just a couple of weeks. And that only meant he got to relive those pains the next day over again.

2 months into the combat training and the Nate was a very different person than the kid he was when he joined the camp. His physical abilities had started to catch up with his heightened senses and he could see more.

Nate was starting to see Baldy's movement and react to it in time and dodge his attacks. Of course, he was still getting hit most of the time and he had long forgotten how to attack back as he never got the chance to. But he enjoyed the fact that he was better than yesterday and ever improving.

Nate adapted to Baldy's speed quicker than Baldy's expected and in just third month into his training Nate had started to throw some punches at him. Baldy knew Nate was mentally unstable, he was normal most of the time and even showed childish behavior with Olly and others but he would control during contact.

Nate would become like a snake with no emotions and the only reason he couldn't fight back he didn't know how to. But Nate was picking up the attack patterns of Baldy and fighting back slowly. As long as he was trained in killer techniques Nate would become a top tier assassin and Baldy was willing to bet on that with all his wealth.

Last three months for training had come and after that most of them including Baldy would be sent to the borders and fight.

"Nate. Come here, boy. Let's have some talk before we begin our next training." Baldy called out as he pointed at the ground next to him. Nate didn't mind the dirt and sat down beside Baldy and started to drink water from the bottle he had brought while passing another one to Baldy.

Baldy took the bottle and drank as well. Being hydrated was important and nothing was more refreshing than plain cold water after a long day of physical training.

"If you have not guessed already, this combat training was all about training your reflexes. You're not being to trained be a warrior who needs to attack and defend and other things you were expecting. Assassination is all about killing in very less time as possible. That gives you the time to run away from the scene.

We're not one man army, we're human who gets tired over time and fighting multiple people is not a very good idea unless of course if you can kill them before they get the chance to fight back.

Your friends and those 75 others in the camp are going there to defend the borders while we're going to kill some people." Baldy said with a slight smirk in his face.

"So when you say kill some people, you mean we have some assassination target rather than just kill the soldiers of opposing army," Nate said as he saw the creepy grin Baldy had. He had those grin when he got lost during the spar and the result would be few broken bones on Nate. He was horrified and thankful of the grin as it would lead to his pain and some time off the training for him.

"You pick up quick. I like that about you kid. Anyway, we'll start training in killing techniques from tomorrow on until the time of departure. Learn well and I'll get you some live meat to practice them on." Baldy said as he stood up and left.

Nate's heartbeat rose as he felt a rush of excitement going up his spine. "Why am I feeling this excitement. There should be fear rather than excitement." Nate said to himself but then he summoned a pistol in his hand and admired its beauty. A string of information appeared in his eyes.

{The Desert Eagle XIX .50 AE, Capacity 8 rounds designed and developed by Magnum Research Inc. (MRI).....)

"But these weapons are not for playing around, are they?" Nate looked at the chromed barrel as he could see his reflection. His eyes looked displayed the no emotion as if he had blocked it or lost it somewhere along the way.
