School is Complicated

Mike continued to go to school over the next few weeks. At least Daisy, Quake's real name, wasn't that bad when Mike got to know her.

She was friendly and even apologized for having to spy on him. She quickly became his friend and they would often be seen eating lunch together. Mike was also introduced to Peter, MJ, Harry, Flash(who was still abully), as well as Luke Cage, Danny Rand, Ava Ayala, and Sam Alexander.

Apparently SHIELD didn't just move some of their people around to keep an eye on him. They were already at the school so it was more like killing two birds with one stone.

Less annoying but still. After school each day he returned to the complex. First thing in the morning was still physical fitness, but in the afternoon he had finally begun martial arts training. He was sparring every day and Shuuji said he was making progress.

"But Master if I'm making progress why do I still feel like I'm at square one?" He asked one day.

"Your training with me." Shuuji said seriously. He then picked up an acorn tossing it to Mike.

"This is you when we started." He then pointed at a sapling barely taller than the grass around them. "This is you now." Then ponting at an old gnarled oak tree. "This is me."

Seeing him look a little confused Shuuji sighed before explaining it a different way. "Your comparing your skills to a Master who honed their skills in countless life or death struggles. These things take time."

About then the Fantastic Four reappeared for dinner. They had taken a liking to Shuuji's cooking and came over often. Apparently the best two scientists and 2 astronauts could do for dinner was take out.

Shuuji had gradually warmed up to them and even treated them like friends.

After Mike woke up the next morning he went to school after the morning workout. Sitting in homeroom Miss Rushman, as Natasha Romonoff went by when at the school looked out at the class.

"We have another new transfer today." She pointed at a Asian Girl with black hair standing quietly near the door. "This is Miss Cassandra Cain. She has just moved here from Gotham everyone be sure to welcome her."

The girl quietly sat down near the back of the room and appeared to be studying everyone. As class went on Cassandra wouldn't speak unless she was asked a question. She would answer as quickly as she could. It was obvious that she was uncomfortable in a social setting.

At lunch she was standing around awkwardly looking around for a place to sit. Mike waved her over. As she sat down she began to eat quietly. Both Mike and Daisy tried to strike up a conversation but she answered in short sentences.

After school Mike left. He didn't notice the quiet girl watching him ride away.

POV Cassandra

The boy that Bruce wanted her to investigate was riding away. 'I better get back to the penthouse.' She thought before walking away.

At the Wayne Penthouse that Bruce owned in the city Cassandra activated the security systems before calling Oracle to give her report.

"How was school?" Barbara asked.

"I made contact with the subject." Cassandra sai

"You mean your classmate?" Barbara asked before continuing. "Bruce sent you up there to give you a chance to interact with kids your age."

"But he wants me to investigate Mike Yamato." She countered "And to find out how every time we get a picture of him something hacks into the bat computer and deletes it."

"That's secondary Cass." Barbara explained patiently. "You are new here, you were raised by assasins. You need some sort of normalcy and interactions with kids who aren't dressed in costumes fighting supervillans."

"He is a martial artist." She said suddenly.

"What? You mean like he takes karate or something?" Barbara asked confused.

"No, more proficient than that." She reported.

"How can you tell? Barbara asked.

"How he holds himself, moves acts." She said. "I don't know how long he has been learning buy its showing. I would rate him about the level of a Robin when they first get out of the cave."

"Hmm,unexpected but," Barbara said, "Maybe that's a way to know him better?"

"What do you mean?" Cass asked.

Barbara sighed internally. Normally Damien was the problem child of the bat family but at least he knew social graces a bit better. Not much but a bit. "You both like martial arts, use your common interests to interact with him as friends."

"Ok" She responded, "by the way SHIELD is all over the school."

"Figures, they are probably there for him too." Barbara said. "By the way Stephanie Tim and Jason are coming up this weekend to check on you."

"Don't need a babysitter." She said shortly.

"Not babysitting you Cass." Barbara explained patiently. "We are your friends we just want to check on you."

Cassandra then cut off the transmission and kept looking out over the city.

POV Mike

After getting back Mike wanted to start building his first mobile suit.

"You sure that's a good idea?" Shuuji asked.

"Why not?" Mike countered.

"Mobile suits are large unwieldy and in the hand of a novice downright dangerous." Shuuji said.

"What do you propose?" Asked Mike.

"During dinner the other night you told me about the suits that were the size of toys and piloted from a ball that functioned like a cockpit." He responded. "Why not make one of those ball cockpits and use it as a simulator to learn before we build something neither one of us can pilot."

"You don't know how either?" Mike asked.

Shuuji laughed. "I may be old but I don't know everything. If we were talking GFighters and their movement tracking I may be of more help but a sit down cockpit." He shook his head.

After thinking about this Mike nodded his head it wasn't a bad idea. He still had a little over 2000 MP left. Checking the store the found the Gundam Build fighters cockpit only cost about 500 MP and he found a simulation program for it for another 200 MP. Mike bought two of them.

Shuuji glanced at it. "Don't know why you bought two."

"Arnt you going to learn as well?" Mike asked.

"I'm too old to learn to pilot in a cockpit like that. I'll just wait till you get a G Fighter cockpit and use that."

Mike then entered the cockpit and selected from the list of suits in the list. Selecting the Strike Gundam the cockpit rearranged itself into a perfect copy of the Strike Gundam's.
