3 Chapter 3: Marriage Proposal

A few months ago...

"The Paxley family proposed for a marriage with the Baroque!"

This startled Guinevere.

She just finished fixing herself and was about to go downstairs for breakfast when she heard the news from the gossip lover maidservants.

Paxleys. A family that have very high magical status.

She would have not mind it if it was another family. If it was just another noble family, anyone can become the candidate for the marriage.

The Baroque family is known for fencing, but the Paxley family is known for their members being a mage.

No one would expect that the Paxley family who usually looks down at people who do not practice magic, which, by the way, they considered as sacred and noble, will propose a marriage to a non-magic family like the Baroque.

But they just did.

Being a mage herself, she knows that she's the choice of the Paxleys for marriage.

Not being conceited but she finished as the top student of the magic academy, practicing the mastery on her ability since 10, and is a famous magician with everyone's high expectations.

She was 85% sure that she'll be married off to that magic inclined family but there is still that remaining 15% hoping for a reversal.

And that teeny weeny hope vanished the time when her father summoned her to his study after breakfast.

She entered the study, greeted her father silently and just had a staring contest with him.

The room became silent.

"Guinevere" her father broke down the silence.

Knowing what her father would say, she brought up the topic about Lancelot.

"Brother Lancelot's whereabouts is still unknown. We do not even know whether he's still alive after the attack of the magic tribes. I won't be settled unless Brother would return!"

"But Guinevere---"

"After we find Lancelot that I will consider the marriage proposal."

Her father looked at her, and gave her a make- sure- you'll- do- it face. She received the message and thus smiled as her reply.

"If you don't have anything else to discuss Father, then I shall leave and not disturb you"

And she left the study.
