Chapter One: Thy Lord

"Azrael, dear. The books go in order from A to Z, alphabetical" One of the Maids explained.

"Oh, I see. My apologies, Amanda. I'll fix it" I began to fiddle with the books again, putting them in alphabetical, just like she said the Lord wants, though I probably got the order wrong.

"Who ordered these books? Bring them here to me!" Demanded our Lord, Michael. Lord Michael is the most powerful Lord in all of the realms. He is known as the "Forever Ruler" since he has been ruling for the past millenia. No body knows how or why he is immortal, but everybody passes it off as a blessing.

"Servant Azrael did it about an hour ago sir. Right now he should be busy cleaning the Maid Block. It'll take him a few hours." Amanda informed him.

"I don't care, just bring him here to me this instant" The Lord ordered.

"Azrael, I think you ordered the books wrong again. The Lord is asking for you in the Library" Amanda whispered worryingly as she walked into the room. Whilst we walked back to the library, my nervousness and fear rose.

We reached the library and walked in, everything was awkwardly silent. Lord Michael stared at me for a good 5 seconds, before he spoke.

"So, you must be Servant Azrael."

"Yes, my Lord" I answered

"Did you or did you not order these books?"

"I did sir, it took me a bit longer than usual because I accidentally ordered them wrong. I re-ordered them of course-"

"Tis' not matter, you did a wonderful job. Better than any other I have seen." Lord Michael complimented. Everybody looked to the scene in shock. Lord Michael had never complimented somebody before.

"Thank you, my Lord for such praise. Alas I do not deserve it for Maid Amanda explained that you liked it in Alphabetical order"

"What do you mean, alphabetical? This order is the polar opposite, Anti-alphabetical, from Z to A" He explained with confusion. I blushed, ashamed of my mistake.

"Since you did a fine job, I shall promote you to what ever you desire. Knight, head-butler, head-chef, you name it."

"No, my Lord. I can not accept such payment" I exclaimed with surprise.

"I insist. Take your time to make up your mind and I will not take a 'I will stay at my job right now' as an answer. Leave a letter at the door step of my chambers when you've made up your mind" And just like that, not only did the Lord just walk out of the room, I got an easy promotion by making a mistake.

Afterwards, I went into the zone of my cleaning and thought about what job I should take, since I can't say no. I took into favor every factor I'm good at and made up my mind. Once I finished all my work I went to my room, picked up a paper and pen and wrote the letter. It took me a few hours to complete it, so I ended up placing it in front of his room an hour past midnight. I went to sleep nervously, scared that my letter will not by approved.

I drifted off to sleep 3 hours past midnight, meditating to music in my head from a childhood memory I could never seem to remember.
