53 Stop! I'll Shoot!

POV: Yun

You can't leave the base area for the Gardener! You can't shout at Torterra and approach him! You can't talk to Torterra! You can't jump into the water! You can't climb into Jaeger! You cannot leave the base after sunset! Any videos shot on the island should be submitted for review.

There were several more important prohibitions, but the main thing was that they did not prohibit breathing and eating, and the rest was not so important. With these thoughts, Yun sat on the edge of the island and looked at the ocean. She puffed out her cheeks and angrily threw pebbles into the water. With such prohibitions, she will not be able to film something interesting.

Just walking around the base and filming people working was boring. No one was interested in such videos for a long time. Working with something new is like peeling an onion. When you find a new "onion" and begin to peel it, the audience becomes curious and they begin to cry as another layer of the onion is removed and new details of the story are revealed. Until the onion runs out and you have to look for a new bulb to interest people. No one remembers the old onion after that, because there is nothing left of it. (I saw an analogy with onions in some movie, but I forgot which one)

She took her cell phone and took a selfie against the background of the old and dirty Gardener. She tried to put a smile on her face, but it wasn't very sincere, so she deleted the photo.

"People! Torterra is coming home! He'll be back in 15 minutes. Everyone knows the rules? Don't talk to him, don't yell at him, and most importantly, don't get lost under his feet!" The head of the base came out in the middle of the base and announced a speech with a loudspeaker. After finishing his performance, he approached Yun.

"Miss Yun. Our big guy has yet to have an accident at this base. I hope this will not change in the future. Do you understand everything?" asked the stern boss.

"Ne!" (Yes - in Korean) Yun replied shortly and nodded her head. However, the arrival of Torterra made her day. The mood rose, and the hope for good content appeared in her. Moreover, this is the first time that any blogger or journalist will be on the island with Torterra. What could have gone wrong?

She readied the camera and straightened her hair, which was a mess from the wind. She was ready to make videos for her fans.

"Which side will he come from?" Yun asked one man running about his business.

"A new journalist? Super! Torterra can only come from two sides. This entire area up to the horizon was covered with an impermeable canvas so that the plants would not spread beyond the perimeter. But for Torterra, we made a door on this side and that side," said the boy, and pointed in two directions with his hand.

"Fine. Thank you!" It wasn't new information, but she was having a hard time remembering exactly where that gate was.

After 15 minutes, the water near the island became turbulent and rose several tens of meters, and then parted to reveal a majestic creature clambering onto the shore. All the while, Yun was filming him.

"You see it! I am the first blogger to shoot him on this island! He is huge!" As Torterra straightened to his full height, Yun's hands began to shake in fear. It was a natural feeling. It's like when you approach an elephant and instinctively fear that it might step on you, or when you see an angry dog growling at you and you take a few steps back.

Torterra took slow steps across the island, causing the ground to tremble. Water flowed from it, and the wind carried it all over the island. His breathing and growling could be heard by all who listened.

Yun felt all this on herself. Trembling of the earth and splashes of water brought by the wind. It was an incredible feeling that she had a hard time describing to her viewers. These shots with the titan coming to the island will become very popular on the Internet!

"Wow! This is so cool! He's so cool!" She continued filming him until he walked into his house. His home was a huge structure with thick walls and blue designs of sea animals.

She continued to film and talk about her feelings. When she finished the content, she saved it on her mobile. She couldn't post it until she passed the inspection.

The moment was over, but she continued walking on the permitted area, waiting for Torterra to come out. She interviewed people around her and made her content with more enthusiasm.

At night, the base quieted down from the commotion. People could not build a reliable building on the surface, so they decided to make an underground bunker in the middle of the rock. This was done for safety. If the island is attacked by Kaiju again, people could hide underground under tens of meters of rocks.

Some workers worked the night shift, but there were very few of them. According to the rules, Yun had to stay in her room at night, and she did. She was lying in bed watching her video with Torterra.

"Cool" - I couldn't think of a better word?!" Every word she said under the influence of emotion annoyed her. She should have prepared better for this and figured out in advance what to say. Suddenly she noticed something on the video.

Torterra held something in one of his hands. After pausing the video and looking closely, she recognized a large metal object there. It was impossible to get a better look, because the streams of water that flowed from him interfered with the view.

"What do you have there?" A smile appeared on her face. It looked like an interesting adventure and a chance to rise to the top of popularity.

She gathered herself and left the room. She headed to the workers' locker room and put on work clothes and a hard hat. She left the base quickly and confidently. No one paid attention to her, because sometimes people went to the surface about their business, even at night.

It was more difficult to go beyond the territory of the base. Although there was no fence, there were guards and night lights shining, illuminating the corner of the island on which the base was located. Yun hid behind some boxes and thought about what to do next.

The best option she could come up with was sabotage. She went to the fire extinguisher, turned it on and threw it. The fire extinguisher stopped working as soon as she threw it, but it still made a lot of noise. By the time the guards arrived, she had bypassed the small building and immediately ran to the entrance of Torterra's house.

"Hey! Stop!" Another guard noticed her, but she was already far away. He ran after her to catch her.

"Stop! I will shoot!" The guards here were armed, so no one had the courage to joke with them.

"AAAAH!" When Yun heard that she was going to be shot at, she screamed in fear, but that fear made her run forward even more.

"Damn!" The security guard heard a woman's scream and realized who it was. It could only be a blogger from Korea who arrived yesterday. He couldn't shoot her, so he chased after her to catch her.

Yun ran with all her might and cried in fear, wishing she hadn't thought of a better diversion that would involve the entire base.

POV: Torterra

I sat on the floor and slowly tore apart the ship in front of me. I opened cabin after cabin with my claws. I needed to find at least something of value in the middle. This ship didn't look like it was carrying gold, but it was only the first ship I found. When I'm done exploring it (destroying valuable archeological artifacts), I'll go look for more ships.

It was very difficult to get something from the ship. So much so that my eyes were already bulging because of concentration. Silver goblets turned into plates with one touch. Therefore, to get from there, at least some junk, I sat all day. It was already dark, but my eyes were adapting and the moonlight entering the room was enough for work.

Suddenly I smelled a strange smell. Something was approaching the entrance to my house. The smell was similar to what I smelled in big cities. One of the threads of the smell was perfume, which almost every second person poured on themselves in the cities.

I slowly got up and headed for the exit to see what was going on.

POV: Yun

"Excuse me! Sorry!" Yun shouted, but accelerated even more to escape from the guard.

"Stop! Stop running!" They were already almost at the entrance. The guard had almost caught up with the girl, but when they were near the entrance, the ground shook and they stopped when they heard Torterra's footsteps.

Bah Bah Boom

With every step Torterra took, Yun could feel the ground shaking. A moment later, a giant monster with a mouth full of teeth was standing in front of her, looking her from up to down. It was dark, but the moonlight illuminated him well.

Yun raised her head to the sky and met the Titan's gaze. The next moment she felt her knees shaking, and Torterra's head seemed to be getting further away from her every second, and she was getting smaller and smaller until she felt herself sitting on the ground.

The guard next to her was also startled, but he had already seen Torterra so close, so he quickly came to his senses. He had his work to do, so he walked over to the girl and took her hand to pull her to her feet.

"No! Let me go! This is my chance to interview Torterra!" Yun screamed because she understood that she would be kicked out of the island immediately after that.

BOOM

The giant in front of them stomped his foot hard. The ground tremor was so strong that Yun and the guard jumped and fell to the ground.

"Oh!" Yun had already fallen to the ground twice and her buttocks hurt. She raised her head and looked at Torterra. He knocked them down with just one stomp.

"You two, follow me!" Torterra told them, then turned and walked back into the house. The guard was well versed in sign language, while Yun only had a basic level of knowledge. This was a condition for obtaining permission to visit the island.

They looked at each other and rose to their feet. "It's your fault! I will file a complaint against you if we are still alive after this." The guard said as he straightened his uniform and walked forward.

"We're in for an exciting adventure, so don't be so sour." Yun was very happy. She will finally be able to bypass all the bloggers in the world and be the first to interview Torterra.
