12 Hunger

"Sir! Look at this." One of the scientists showed a tablet monitor on which a video of today's events was playing. The video showed how a giant turtle approached the overturned ship and with a screeching sound turned it back. Despite the rocket fire, he did not retreat and continued to move. Although people on boats sailing nearby opened fire on him, he ignored them. Even during its movement into the depths of the bay, the turtle tried to avoid collisions with ships and people.

Then the scientist switched to another video. This video showed a Kaiju approaching the city from the ocean. No one opened fire on him, but he persistently and aggressively attacked the ship, tearing it in two. The same was seen in the footage of the destruction of the bridge or when he entered the city, when the Kaiju mercilessly attacked the buildings and spared no one, using all his power.

"The decision is made! Put me in touch with the president!"

POV: Gamera

Waking up was very painful. As soon as I regained consciousness, I felt nothing but pain. Even the carapace hurt as if it had been removed from me. Hands almost did not obey my commands. They were constantly shaking.

Although not surprising, he must have broken my bones. "Where he?!" - Rising riskily, I hissed in pain. I slowly opened my eyes and saw the charred corpse of the once great Kaiju. All his glory and power turned into something incomprehensible, formless.

"Fuhhh, thank God, I'm still alive," I breathed out with relief. Looking around, there were wine ruins of the city. The smell of smoke still hung in the air. Since it was already dark, I could sleep for a few hours or a few days. It's a little hard to think with this pain in my body.

Hearing the noise of engines, I turned around and saw several boats sailing away from me. "They must have put a tracker on me somewhere." With a weary look, I thought. "As soon as I find him, I will destroy him immediately! And make no doubt about it!" - I growled at them. I don't care though. They better know where I am. It may be useful for future cooperation.

After sitting like that for a while, I looked at the Kaiju again. In the movies, these creatures brought disaster not only with their power. When their blood gets into the oceans, it pollutes everything like oil. Looks like people are already doing something with it. His whole body is illuminated by spotlights, and people walk around with various devices.

A loud grunt

"So weird! I feel hungry. I guess my body is so tired that it can't be passive anymore. Looks like I know someone who really wants to be my lunch :) But I can't just take it away, people need to explore my enemy. I guess I'll leave their head, there's only bones there anyway."

POV: Scientists near Kaiju's body

"Boss! Look! The giant turtle has woken up!" A young scientist with large round glasses shouted. He used to study crocodiles in the jungle. It was his passion. The way these reptiles looked out of the water and waited for their prey to approach had always fascinated him. Only a few eyes are visible above the water, but they hide a gigantic monster that is just waiting to drag someone under the water.

"Quickly move to a safe distance, we're too close. Billy, get out of there, we're leaving!" said the leader of this group of researchers. He couldn't risk it. He didn't know what was going to happen next, and he didn't stop being afraid of the creature, despite his entire group's fascination with the turtle. He was a soldier, and it was his duty to take care of the safety of his people.

After a while, they moved a few blocks away. Their entire laboratory was portable, on trucks. They loaded everything they needed and quickly left. They were waiting for the turtle to leave the research area and they could continue their work.

"Looks like our turtle is starting to eat our research object," the leader said emotionlessly, watching the giant wearily approach the carcass and start gnawing on it. "That was to be expected after all. He fought that Kaiju so hard. You could have guessed he was a carnivore."

"It doesn't have to, Sir! He can be an omnivore!" said the young scientist standing nearby.

"I'm not talking about that..." answered the manager tiredly. It was quite difficult to manage a group that consisted of people who were available and not skilled workers. They were good, but not professional. "Do not pay attention!"

"Sir! It bit the Kaiju's head off!" Kaiju is the name of an aggressive creature that is now lying dead. Scientists gave it such a name because it did not look like anything else. The word "kaiju" comes from the Japanese language and means "big beast" or "big monster". It's a fitting name for this monster.

"I can see it myself! Why are you standing around doing nothing? Take your camera and start filming it!" shouted the manager.

"But, Sir! He is coming to us!"

"What?! Move away! Leave the cars! Hide behind that house!" shouted the commander, realizing that the car drivers would not have enough time for an organized exit from the scene. People quickly ran for the house that stood nearby, but the commander remained in place. "I have a feeling something special is about to happen now. I have to stay." The leader gathered courage and decided to confront the beast. His military background had given him the opportunity to learn to trust his senses, and this time he felt that there was no danger.

He stood straight with his head raised, looking into the creature's huge eyes. The creature was also watching him, slowly approaching. He had the Kaiju's head in his mouth, blue blood dripping down his chest.

"Sir! What are you doing? Hide!" shouted people who had taken cover behind the building, frightened by the situation.

When the turtle approached, it immediately placed the Kaiju's head right in front of the research team leader. He nodded his head, turned around and headed back towards the Kaiju's body. Everything happened quite quickly, as if both parties agreed not to contact each other for a long time.

"This is incredible! He just shared his booty with us! You know what that means? He considers us part of his group!" shouted a young scientist with round glasses, running up to the Kaiju's head and waving his arms like a small child.

"Yeah, that's cool," the pale-faced manager replied quietly. "I just aged 10 years. What are you doing here playing like a child? Get down to business! All of you! Get out and get down to business! We've got to explore every bit of this head, don't miss a beat."
