1 Marvel: Game Maker {Guardian’s Lure}

Heavily Based on the Marvel: Game Maker System by NunuXD

Another world. Another life. Transmigration can be oh so fun huh. Could have been better if I didn't know where I was. Marvel. I sigh, leaning against the park bench. I'm flat broke, with barely any identity in the universe with a bunch of frustrating events. I appeared randomly in an alleyway and I've been here for two days. Course that doesn't mean I have been doing nothing. I've been collecting trash! Yeah, maybe I should word that better. Alright, it is fairly hard to do things without an identity. Possible yes. But you have to get really lucky.

Well, let's go from what I do know. This by any means is not a Marvel universe that I know. I checked what little information I could publicly access. I had to use the fifteen minute free access computer at the library but I was able to research pretty quickly. I had to use some vague investigative terms, but I only had to hop on wikipedia and then suddenly BAM. I could click on links to navigate throughout history quickly and rapidly. For one, things are looking terrible here. I mean, it isn't terrifying yet. But things are rapidly going downhill. Two alien invasions thus far, barely defended by the Avengers, who aren't even the Avengers yet, aka no team as of the moment. The Fantastic Four are doing… something. Whatever it is it will probably end up in disaster. Iron Man is a teenager, and we have a heavy anti-mutant movement. The edit war on mutants wiki page shows that pretty quickly. It isn't to terroristic levels yet. But it is getting there.

All I can think is can't you all give it a break? Why does there need to be so much hate in this world. I've only seen the surface level. Who knows how much I haven't seen yet. Haah… if only we could all just play games and get along. But the chances of that happening are pretty astronomical aren't they? Hah… Well, let's skip to now then. Why am I monologuing now instead of back then? It's simple. I've been looking at two golden words called Activate System for the last thirty minutes.

Yep. So just in case I am in some comic or anime I figured I would monologue. Just incase it increases my chances. The question is, what kind of system is it? I just have to lift my hands and press it, and I really want to. But what if this is a trick? Like I press that and suddenly murphy wants me to suffer as much as possible. I read a story where a guy got a Gamer System and his life became twisted, and that was a marvel fanfic! But then again…

If I don't press it I just become a no one. A homeless person who woke up in New York. One of thousands. Eventually probably dying on the sidewalk because of a lack of clothing or something… I press the button.

[Game Maker System ONLINE!]

[Welcome to the Game Maker System Host.] [BV: 0] [FV: 0] [GV: 0]]

"Ok, where the hell am I?"

[Welcome to the Developer Space. A safe zone and home for the Game Maker System Host.]

I examined my surroundings. I am in a twelve by twelve foot room with white walls and a green carpet floor. I have a comfortable looking bed that is probably smaller than I am. Being almost six feet tall isn't that great sometimes. The corner has a desk with a beefy looking desktop on it with a roller chair that is basically bolted to the ground. Honestly… I love this room. It may not have much but it has one of my favorite obsessions in it. A computer! Hah, regardless I should get back to task.

"Game Maker System… I can infer a bit from your name, but what are you actually for? And what were those three last values?"

[Game Maker System is a game development system that uses the hosts mind as the engine. Your influence can shape games that will revolutionize this world and bring them to a better tomorrow. The values are Buy Value, Fan Value, and Game Value.]

Ok. That doesn't explain much. Hah… "Do I get a starter package or something?"

[Opening Starter Package.]

[1,000 Game Value Added]

"Alright then, let's take a look at the shop."

[Do you wish to use the holographic interface or the PC?]

"Let's use the PC." I practically threw myself in the chair, which was amazingly comfortable. It was most definitely made to allow the user to sit for hours at a time. Then I started to navigate the browser. Let's see… Open World RPG 1000 GV, FPS 100 GV, RTS 150 GV, RPG 400 GV. Wow, that only purchases the genre as well, doesn't count other things. There are more options as well. Hm, we should find out what genre is currently really powerful, on youtube we go!

_Short Time Skip_

I got nothing. While gaming is popular, it hasn't reached the heights it did in my world. Of course it didn't massively change things in my world but it had some impact. Regardless I don't see anything really working. For one it was oversaturated. Anything outside of the World War games was considered niche. Only a few indie games were able to edge into the market, even then the most saturated games were the World War games. On one hand that means I have options from my world to plagiarize. On the other hand that disappoints me massively as I wanted to see if they had any good games.

But it pushes something I really want to exist. Half Life. I wanted it to exist in this world, it was one of my favorite FPS/Adventure Games, a revolutionary game that allowed Steam to market its website as one of the most exclusive game fronts of all time attracting the most gamers in the world. Meaning if I try hard enough, maybe I can do something similar. The current best storefront is practically a scam. They claim almost 50% of the earnings from the games made by others. And that is considered a good deal in this world! I can't even post my game there as it requires BV. Which can only be earned through people buying my game. But this world, while relatively advanced in some areas, has yet to move beyond the DVD. Meaning? I can sell it personally. Although I'm pretty sure this will cause me issues in the long run, but hopefully by then It will be fine.

"Since you have the ability to host these games and such, can we get a website to sell our games?"

[Storefront Website Cost: 100 BV.]

"Can I exchange the cash I make in real life into BV?"

[USD to BV Conversion Rate: 1 Dollar = 1 BV.]

"I see… so I need to go visit the soup kitchen. At the current pace I can't do anything without SOME money. I need 100 dollars. So I need a job. Something to get me started. There I can find a way to donate plasma or something… No that won't work, they would need blood tests and to make sure I'm not on drugs or something, they will also need my ID. I don't exist in the system so It would pretty much screw me to kingdom come. System can I convert game value to buy value?"

[Buy Value and Game Value are not interchangeable.]

Damn. "Well I guess I can only go about this the long way around. Forums. I just need to find a forum that will let me post a downloaded file… Here we are, the Indie Game Forums. I'll probably get overshadowed, but even a few Fan Values would be useful. It does mean our first game will be free… How do I earn points?"

[Game Value is earned overtime and as your game passes major points. Every time your game adds a 0 to the player count, you will earn that much value. So if you had thirteen thousand people playing your game you would have ten thousand game value, and you would get one hundred game value at one hundred players, and ten game value at ten players. Fan Value is earned whenever a player passes a certain satisfaction point, 1 fan value per time the player passes this point. Buy Value is earned by converting currency spent when buying the game.]

Alright then, so I can try to earn some Fan Value, Fan Value can be converted into things like food or treasures. I can sell food for money and then BAM! I have some BV. Which can be used to purchase a exclusive website for my games. Then I can lure other game developers in to make more BV. I can upgrade the website as well when I earn more BV.

Then let's do it. I start navigating to buy the required systems.

[Unrealistic Compression x100: File Size can be decreased from one tb to one mb without any loss. 500 GV]

[Map Designer: A powerful creation tool for the host. 300 GV]

[Prop Designer: A powerful creation tool for the host. 100 GV]

[Sound Designer: A powerful creation tool for the host. 400 GV]

[FPS: Allows the user to easily make FPS games from memory or scratch. 100 GV]

[Point Total: 1400 GV] [ERROR: Cannot Afford.]

Ok then, so I can't skip a few things… "System, how big would the game I'm thinking of be if I don't get unrealistic compression?"

[2.6 GB Estimated, Depending on Detail Used, it can go up to 20 GB, if Virtual Reality is Enabled it will go up to 1.6 TB.]

I froze. "Apparently I missed an option then… wow Virtual Reality could probably earn me dozens of Fan Value. How functional is it?"

[Depends on how much GV is used in its construction.]

So no super Minecraft virtual reality games yet. Got it. "Alright then, let's switch out unrealistic for Graphic Designer. Since we likely won't exceed 20 gb. Now then, let's make an old school game."
