old time

One officer arrived some time later, casually walking up to the spot where the man lay on the ground, before turning to Keith..

"You must be the good Samaritan right?" He looked Keith over, casually observing his features.

"I guess.."

"Well, good old tom told me all about it.. so don't worry to much… to much paperwork if you ask me.." The officer casually stretched his back, groaning a little as he did so..

"So?" The situation was quite strange to Keith, as he hadn't expected someone like this to show up.

"You can head back to whatever you were doing, ill just wait for the ambulance to take him to the hospital before anything else…"

"No statement?" The officer barely checked the body, only lightly kicking it to see if the man was still alive.

"Nah… is just more work… we got cc tv, and my partner is dealing with that.."

"Ah.. well then.. have a nice day.."

"You too." With a tip of the hat, the officer smiled, leaning on one of the cars to the side… letting Keith close the door…

Keith had a strange taste in his mount…. Even if he wasn't question, this level of laziness was beyond him…

Getting back into bed, Keith felt that he couldn't sleep anymore, just dazedly staring up to the roof as he lay there… eventually noticing that they had moved the body away….

Feeling confident that he wouldn't be approached for questioning, Keith headed towards the bathroom, finding it still in taters after he used it as his make shift medical facility..

Kicking the things aside on the floor, Keith inspected the gun he just got… tacking out the bullets, before looking if everything still worked… finding that while it was a little dirty, with rust covering the sides of the barrel, the gun, now identified as a double action revolver was still in good condition, or at least in a usable condition…

He only had five bullets, but he was sure that he could swing by a ammunition on the way out of town…

Reloading the five bullets into the chambers, Keith headed for the door, not wanting to take a shower inside the motel…

Heading out the door, Keith first went towards the shop the earlier two men had come from, wanting to get a coffee as well as something to eat… hoping that he could perhaps get a discount for his noble deed of the day…

Reaching the place, Keith saw that the front door had been broken.. with some of the glass pieces still being in the vicinity…

"Mister… thanks again for helping me out… is there something I can help you with?"

"I just wanted some coffee…" glass cracked under his weight as Keith slowly made his way inside..

"I still have a fresh one in the back.. let me get u some… for free of course.." he originally seemed to be cleaning it up, but left the glass shards lying on the ground,

"Ah, thank you.." Stepping over another pile of glass shards, Keith followed the man towards the back…

"So what happened anyway?"

"that stupid man has been trying to rob me for almost a week now, he started with taking some things from the store without paying, but I saw it, called him out you know… had to call the police to get him out… he was long gone when they arrived though.." Keith nodded his head, casually leaning against the side of the door leading to the back..

"Yeah, I could imagine it being rough to get police on time around here.." The need for a police force was mostly filled by county sheriffs, but even they had limits to their man power..

"They are just lazy… aren't willing to do anything to peruse crime, they just laze around.."

"ah.." Keith got a cup handed to him, partly filled with coffee..

"Anyhow…. i always go to work early, to set up… get some coffee.." the man pointe to the cup as Keith took his first sip, discovering that the coffee wasn't really hot anymore, only a little lukewarm..

"But this time the idiot decides to break in, uses his gun to shoot the door open, before running away while squealing like a pig once I came out with my shotgun in hand.."

"Yeah, ran quite fast from the looks of things.." Keith wandered around, looking from something to eat..

"I don't know how that fat basted managed it.." Keith noticed the mans eyes follow him like a hawk..

"How much for these?" coming back to the counter Keith placed a pack of P's & Q's as well as a meteorite bar…

"Seven dollars.." the price surprised him.

"Damn, I can understand why someone would want to rob you.." Keith reached into his pocket, grabbing his money..

"It's the shipping cost… can't get anything out here without paying.."

"These shipping come often.." Keith didn't know much about shipping,

"Not to me…. But I notice them coming by quite often, always to the next town.. much more business there.."

"Ah… well anyway.. good luck with the door.."

"yes thank you.." Exiting the store, Keith threw away the wrapping around the bar, throwing it in the trashcan along with the cup with a small layer of coffee remaining..

Tacking a look around, Keith decided to head to that town, tacking a look at the his phone in order to get a rout to the place…

-

Keith casually walked along the shoreline, planning to get to the next town by following a trail close to the beach…

The wind rustled the nearby trees, bringing with it the sound of water splashing as waves rose and fell in seemingly random patterns..

It calmed Keith, letting him enjoy the quiet time alone…

Nearing the trail leading up, Keith slowly climbed, before hearing some strange noises..

Getting closer Keith noticed a truck parked on the side of a dirt road, with two people standing behind it..

"Why do I have to be the one to dig?" The sound of digging sounded out in the otherwise quite woods..

"Because we only have one shovel, and you need the exercise.." Keith wondered what was going on, calmly striding towards the side to observe the scene more carefully.

"Do you have any idea what my father will do to you two punks when he hears about this.."

"Shut up.." the man held up a shotgun, having it casually lean on his shoulder as he watched over the other guy.

"Just let me go.." getting closer to the car Keith saw a woman lying on the ground..

"Didn't I say… Ho there mister, where do you think you are going?" He had turned around, noticing Keith in the process..

"What you up to?" He raised his gun… shuffling his feet, as he watched Keith look over the lady on the ground..

"Non of your business.. now leave if you don't want to be shot.." he jammed his gun forward, trying to intimidate Keith, who slowly backed up…

"Please help me!" The woman shouted out, causing the man holding the shotgun to turn back to her..

"Didn't I say to stay qui…" a gunshot rang out, followed by a thud, as the man fell to the floor

"What the…" before the other could pull his pistol, he to received a bullet, causing him to fall back and squeal in pain..

Walking a bit closer Keith aimed at the man, shooting him another time to finish him off..

Holstering his gun, Keith turned to the woman who was lying on the ground.

"You couldn't untie me, could you.." the woman struggled to look up at him, having gotten her hair hung before her eyes from earlier attempts to struggle free.

"Of course.. let me just.." Keith crouched down beside her, taking a look at the rope that bound her hands and feet, before beginning to untie them..

"There we go.." Keith pulled the loosened rope from her arms, letting her get up from the ground…

"Oh thank god… I don't even know where the hell we are.. you couldn't give me a ride to the city, could you?.." Thinking about it, Keith decided to accept, feeling that the short time he spent there to rest was spent doing other things, and hoping to get back to his own home…

"Sure.. why not.." Keith headed for the truck next to them, confusing the woman..

"You do have a car don't you?" she followed him with doubt evident in her voice..

"We will just take theirs…" Checking the door, Keith found the car still unlocked, with the keys even still inside, not needing him to wire the car to start.

"What about your...." She shut her mouth before finishing her sentence, realizing that she didn't need to pry..

Starting the engine Keith, looked out in front, slowly beginning to drive off towards the highway…

"I need to make a call…" Taking out her phone, the woman reached the other person..

"Beppe, you got to come get me… yes right now.. I almost got wacked.. Meet me in Vinewood hills, I just got to get out of here… anywhere.." Shutting off her phone the girl turned to Keith..

"I got a guy coming for me.. Vinewood Hills.." Keith nodded, finding it to be close enough to

"Alright…" Keith turned onto the highway, speeding up to catch up to the speed of the other cars.

"I don't know what would have happened to me if you hadn't come along.."

"Don't worry about it.." His words seemed to barely do anything to the girl as she kept looking over her shoulder..

"Those sicks sons of bitches." She rubbed her shoulders..

"Any reason they were out to get you?" Keith casually turned on the radio, keeping it quiet as to not interrupt their conversation..

"Its just my dad.."

"What he do?"

"I shouldn't… never mind doesn't matter…"

"What?" she seemed to quickly change her mind on the matter..

"Your in the life… the way you shoot, the way you act.."

"Ah.." Keith nodded, not really confirming her words.

"Have you heard of Sammy Bottino, most people know him as Sonny?"

"Heard of him.." Keith knew him growing up, but never really interacted much with the guy..

"Yeah, basically ran the East coast in the eighties and nineties'….. well that's my dad.." Keith looked her over once again, trying to see any resemblance to Sammy, finding details he had missed before..

"Wow.. so you.."

"What about me.."

"I grew up on the east coast… heard rumours about you.. he still as protective as the rumours painted him out to be.." Anyone who even came close to her was in the danger zone..

"He is, not like its strange… I always was a little bit of a daddy's girl, but never expected him to turn out as a snitch... leaving me on the outside dealing with the fallout of everything.." She didn't seem to dislike him as much as her words suggest, likely due to a conflict in feelings…

"So what happened back there is the fallout you're talking about.."

"Probably someone who wants to get back at my father, or someone trying to pull something from the inside… how should I know.."

"Must suck.."

"you don't have any idea… when my father hears about this he will flip his shit.. everyone those two even talked to will get hit.." Keith smiled as he remembered the rumours, reminiscing about all the theories he had heard back then..

"Speaking of which what's your name?"

"Keith.."

"Keith what?"

"Not everyone is as open about that you know.." She knew he was in 'the life' so she shouldn't have been surprised..

"Come on, you will be made right for this.."

"Don't have to… I am already rich enough.." He didn't need a reward, not to mention the possible risk of Keith getting in contact with someone who knew him.

"Says the guy with no car.." Keith sighed..

"You can walk if you don't like it."
