“Sir, you called me?” I faked a smile so that I could pretend that we were on good terms. Hahaha

“I don’t want you telling anyone that we live in the same building. I don’t want to be linked to you in any other way, other than being my underling. Understood?” He sharply said while still glued to his computer. My gosh, no eye contact? He’s obviously not good with conversations.

“Sir, I completely agree with you. I also don’t want to be linked to you. I don't want anything to happen to me, especially when your secretary outside learns about it. Is that all, sir?” I quickly frowned at him. He is so feeling! I am not a gossip!

“I won’t personally train you but you will still answer to me. Your mentor will be Jason. Look for him when you get out of my office.” What? Not even a quick look? I’m slowly losing my interest.

“Yes, sir. Anything else?”

He shook his head and pointed at his door. Goodness, he can’t even say that? When I got out, I went straight to Ysa so I could find Jason.

“Ysa, I talked to Sir. He said to look for Jason because he’s the one who is going to teach me. Who is Jason?”

Ysa’s eyes became large. She’s actually funny to look at. It looks like she put on a pair of googly eyes for book-scrapping. Hahaha

“OMG! Sir Jason? You are lucky to have him! Good thing that Sir Lieg isn’t the one who is going to teach you. Sir Jason is one of the Senior Designers here. Sir Jason and Sir Lieg are good friends as well. He’s also kind and very good looking.”

I guess the word that can describe Ysa right now is kilig. I am now very curious about his face.

“What? Really? Can you show me where his office is? I want to start already.”

“Oh, yeah, sure. When you enter the left door, all of the offices of the Senior Designers are there. Sir Jason’s office is the last one, near the pantry. Also, Nicole, don’t knock, okay? He literally doesn’t have a door to his office.”

“What? He doesn’t have a door? Okay, I’ll just look for an office without a door. Thank you!”

I started to look for that unique office. Every door that I passed, the more I became curious as to why my mentor doesn’t have a door to his office. Is it a leadership strategy? Or maybe something happened and the door was bro-

“HAHAHAHA!”

“OH MY GOD!”

“Oh, miss? Do I look like God?” I had to back into a wall. This person is so tall.

“Oh, um, no. Um, sorry about that. You surprised me.” I just smiled at him. Maybe he’ll tell Jerk that I’m just shouting here around the office.

“Me? Surprising you? Miss, you’re the one blocking my invisible door.” What? Invisible door?

I stopped for a moment and looked around. I also held out my hand.to feel it. Wow. There really is no door.

“Sir Jason? Is that you?”

“Hahaha! Sir Jason is my dad. Just call me Jason or Sir Jace. You must be the new hir, Miss…?”

Oh my gosh! He IS handsome. Ysa is right. I’ll be inspired to work everyday. Hahaha

“Nicole Beatrice Sirencho. Junior Designer. Sir Lieg said that you will be the one who’ll mentor me.”

“Oh, please don’t be too formal. I’m not really like that. Good thing that I’m the one who’ll teach you, Miss Nicole. ‘Cause you won’t learn anything from Lieg! Hahaha” I didn’t know that Jason has a sense of humor. He’s the complete opposite of that Jerk.

“Oh, please don’t call me ‘Miss’. Just Nicole. Anyways, where should I place myself?”

He started to teach me after talking near his invisible door. He taught me how to access the files of the department, the different forms that may be needed, how to IM co-workers within the company. He also showed me around the whole department and to the other offices, rooms, and the warehouse that we might go to for work.

“I thought that this building is just big. I didn’t consider that it’s also functional. My previous workplace is nothing like this.”

“Of course, Nicole. Lieg is the one who headed and designed this whole building. He actually looked like the architect and interior designer when this building was still in the works. The Chairwoman was furious with Lieg that time because whenever he goes home, he looks like a construction worker and not the boss of the company.”

I was surprised with what Jason just said. Maybe Jerk is really just hard-working and he really isn’t a total jerk. But it’s possible that he has a big ego that’s why he wanted the building to be organized and beautiful.

“Are you tired of walking around, Nicole? We can have lunch already. Where do you want to eat? I’ll treat you as my welcome gift for you.” Jason smiled. Like, really smiled. I got kilig for a little bit. Hahaha

“Oh! No thank you, Jason. I brought my own lunch, and Ysa and I have an understanding for lunch. Maybe next time and with the others?” It’s embarrassing! It’s my first day and yet my boss is already treating me a meal!

“I asked Ysa if you have someone to have lunch with and if you brought food. She said no.” Now, this handsome person is smirking. My god, Ysa! I’ll get you later with thanks. I want to spend more time with Jason. Hehe

I got red and just smiled at him. “It’s embarrassing! You’re my boss and you are the one who will treat me? Even if it’s just my first day? It’s embarrassing!”

“Don’t worry, Nicole. It’s just for today. Also, wouldn’t you want to disobey your boss on your first day, right?”

Well, he does have a point. I can also eye-survey the restaurants around the building so I know where to go just in case I don’t have my own lunch. “Okay, Jason. But next time, it will be my turn to treat you. As a thank you.” I smiled. I may garner brownie points here. Hahaha

We went to Pancake House in the building next to ours. When I looked at the menu, my eyes widened. The foods here are somewhat pricey. I thought that this place is just like Razon’s.

“Hahaha! Nicole, you have a funny face!”

“Look, Jason, these are some pricey foods.”

“And, so? The prices are worth the quality of their food. I wasn’t let down by Pancake House.”

“Okay, if you say so. You’re the boss!”

After lots of laughing and eating, we decided to go back to the office and work. I feel like I’ll last long here in the company. When dismissal came, Jason suddenly went out of his office.

“Guys, relax this weekend. Next week, we have new clients coming in and you should be ready. Have a happy long weekend!”

Oh! It is a long weekend! I’ll go to Cavite first to visit Nanay.
