31 Chapter 31 Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman

​MJ stayed in the car while Varen walked to go get Peter. All of the students were hugging their parents since what happened was on the news.

Varen walked up to Peter and punched him on the arm with enough force to make it hurt.

Peter: "Oww! What was that for?!"

Peter rubbed his arm as he glared at Varen.

Varen: "I thought I told you to leave the glowing bomb in the hotel room!"

Varen said this to Peter, but used his power so that only Peter could hear him say this. He did not want everyone to freak out about this. Peter seemed to not know about this as he started to look around if anyone heard.

Peter: "Are you crazy! What if someone heard?!"

Varen: "Relax, I got some new powers while you were away."

Peter: "You awakened more powers? What are they? Are they super cool?!"

Varen: "Yes, but I dont want to go through them right now. All you have to know is that one of them can manipulate sound."

Peter: "That's awsome."

Varen: "So how was Karen? Did she prove useful?"

Peter: "I guess you can say we are friends. She idolizes you by the way."

Varen: "Haha. So how many mistakes did you make while on your trip."

Peter: "Uh...none?"

Varen: "I'll be looking at your baby monitor later."

Varen started to walk to the car while Peter followed all while protesting.

Peter: " You know that's a huge violation to my privacy."

Varen: "I know, maybe once you beat me I'll take it off."

Peter: "That is so not fair!"

They got in the car, Varen drove while Peter was in the back seat and MJ rode shotgun.

MJ: "Hey Pete, it's good your back."

Peter: "Oh hey MJ, what are you doing here?"

MJ: "Oh, me and Varen were hanging out when he had to come pick you up."

Peter: "You two were on a date?"

MJ blushed as she stammered for a reply.

MJ: "W-w-we weren't o-on a d-d-date!"

Peter: "Oh come one MJ, for such a rebel who does not like to study and ditches class, you sure get easily embarrassed."

MJ: "I don't get easily embarrassed! Only when it comes to Varen!"

Varen: "Why only when it comes to me? Am I embarrassing to you?"

Varen decided to join in on the teasing, while he looked in the rearview mirror and shared a look with Peter that showed some evil.

MJ: "N-no you dont! I-I-I like spending time with you!"

Varen: "So you like me?"

MJ: "No!"

Varen: "So you dont like me?"

MJ: "Yes! I do l-like you...Shut up already!!"

MJ looked away and stared out the window, trying her best to ignore the laughter of the two boys.

Varen drove back to the apartment and went up to their floor. MJ just went into her apartment without saying good bye. Peter went inside his own apartment, and just when Varen was going to follow him in, MJ came back outside and ran to Varen stealing kiss. Varen followed her lead and kissed her back, after a while they separated. MJ had a red face that almost matched her hair, even her ears were red.

MJ: "That's to thank you for helping me relax today, and for giving me advice with my dad."

She didn't say anything more as she turned away and slammed the door to her apartment. Varen smiled happily and went inside his own apartment and went into the kitchen to make some food for him and Peter.

Varen: "Hey Peter, mom and dad will be here in about an hour, so it's just us eating tonight."

Peter: "OK!"

Peter yelled out from his room while he changed into something more comfortable.

Soon Peter came out wearing some joggers and a t-shirt.

The two sat down at the dinner table and started to eat while conversing.

Peter: "So did I miss anything?"

Varen: "A few things. Gwen knows I'm Nightwing."

Peter: "What! How did she find out?!"

Varen: "I told her."

Peter: "Why?"

Varen: "Because I trust her, and I know that I can protect her if anything were to happen."

Peter: "Does anyone else know?"

Varen: "Felicia knows too, but she found out on her own. I was planning to tell her anyway so its no big deal, I also told her you were Spiderman."

Peter: "What the heck! Why?"

Varen: "So that she doesn't freak out about it later. It's better if she knows now so that we dont have to sneak around."

Peter: "What about MJ? Does she know too?"

Varen: "No, she doesn't know. I might tell her, but later."

Peter: "Man, your really comfortable with people knowing out Identity."

Varen: "Im comfortable with people that I trust fully knowing our Identity. There is a difference from people I trust and criminals out to kill me. Plus, dont you think it's better with the ones you love knowing where you are and what your doing instead of having to lie to then making them worried? I personally think its better, more freedom and less stress."

Peter: "*sigh*...I guess your right. Plus no common criminal who knows your Identity would have the guts to come after your loved ones after you tell the world about Orion tomorrow. "

Varen: "Yeah haha. It'll be like Tony Stark saying he was Iron man."

Peter: "Your gonna be busy with a bunch of interview stuff. Hey wont it be cool if you get to meet Tony Stark?"

Varen: "Haha I already met him, but as Nightwing. It would be cool to meet him personally I guess."

Varen and Peter continued to eat their meal, and when they were done they got ready for bed.

Varen was brushing his teeth as Peter was messing with his Web Shooters.

Varen: "What are you doing Peter?"

Peter: "I'm making a cool little light with my mask on it. It will be like a Spider signal."

Varen: "Oh that's cool. Want me to help you make it?"

Peter: "Naw that's cool, I can make it on my own."

Varen: "Oh that reminds me, do you want my NightCycle? I dont really need it anymore since I can fly and all. I can even redesign it to make it the SpiderCycle."

Peter: "What?! You can fly? that's so cool! And I can keep your awsome bike? That would be awsome!"

Varen: "Haha as long as you like it. I'll have Morgana start with the redesigning process."

Varen and Peter got into their bed as Peter flashed his prototype spider signal onto the ceiling.

Varen: "You know that really is a cool idea."

Peter: "Thanks...you know. While I was on my own fighting bad guys in DC, I found myself thinking 'what would Varen do' in multiple occasions. I want to ask, what made you think that I was ready."

Varen: "Peter, I'm not some sort of saint. I also mess up some times, and it's ok to mess up. Just dont mess up when it truly counts, like when there are lives on the line. As heroes we cant afford to mess up on times like those. So you should be asking yourself, 'what would I do to save as much lives as possible'. Even when its not down to saving a life, it's the best way to execute what you are trying to do. As for what I saw in you? I saw a kid that was ready to protect queens and the lives in it. I saw New Yorks friendly neighborhood spiderman. All he needed was a little polishing and experience to become a great hero."

Peter smiled and continued looking at his light.

Peter: "Friendly neighborhood spiderman...that's got a ring to it Haha. Thanks Varen, I wont let you down."

Varen smiled and went to sleep, tomorrow is going to be a long day.
