Chapter 24 Getting Ready For The Date

(Peter): "...With Ned."

(Varen): "What? Why is it with Ned?!"

(Peter): "He kinda found out about me being Spider-Man."

But how? Did he see him crawling on walls like in the movie?

(Varen): "How did he find out?"

(Peter): "I had my suit in my bag, and I sort of forgot that I had it in my bag. Ned offered to unpack my bag for me and ended up seeing the suit."

God Peter, I swear you are one of the smartest people I know but sometimes you are really stupid.

(Varen): "*sigh* How did he react?"

(Peter): "Pretty well actually, he was super stoked when he found out that he started to ask me a bunch of questions. They were pretty funny actually. He was like 'Do you lay eggs? Can you spit venom? Can you summon an army of spiders? How far can you shoot your webs?' They were pretty funny actually😂"

(Varen): "That last question was actually something you should find out later."

(Peter): "Yeah I probably should. Should I tell him that your Nightwing?"

(Varen): "I dont think you should. I dont want him going around and telling everyone, I also dont want him asking me a bunch of questions. Look I dont have a problem with people that are close to us finding out about our Identities, I just dont want the BAD people finding out."

(Peter): "Then wouldn't it be better if no one knew?"

(Varen): "Yes, but then that would make a bunch of people worry about where you are and stuff. We will just have to protect the people that know ourselves...or we can just give them powers. But I know mom and dad definitely dont want to have powers, mom even said 'My two boys will just have to save us if we get in trouble' with her usual smile of not noticing our reaction. I may not really agree with her, but I understand that some people just dont want powers."

(Peter): "Then what about our friends?"

(Varen): "If they found out about our identity then I would respect their decision if they dont want powers. But if they do then I would give it to them so that they can protect themselves."

(Peter): "Do you think Ned would want powers?"

(Varen): "Honestly, I dont know. That is something only he can decide. But personally I don't think he does. Ned seems like he likes to talk about super heroes but not want to be one."

(Peter): "Yeah, that actually sounds like Ned, ge even said that he wants to be my guy in the chair.😂"

(Varen): "Well you dont really need a guy in the chair since you have your own personal A.I."

(Peter): "My own what?! Since when?"

(Varen): "Yeah, it should have activated when I turned off the training wheels protocol."

(Peter): "Training wheels protocol?! What the hell is that?!"

(Varen): "Its basically like wearing training wheels for being a superhero. Now that I turned it off you should have access to a bunch of sub-protocols, mess with it later."

(Peter): "So I get my own A.I?"

(Varen): "Yeah, think of her like she is Morganas little sister. You can feel free to name her if you want."

(Peter): "Alright, I have to go tho. I'm planning on following the tracker I put on one of the arm dealers tonight."

(Varen): "Are you sure that it's a good idea? You might miss your decathlon thing tomorrow."

(Peter): "Its fine I'll make it back before then, plus Ned is covering for me. He even has the glowing evidence in his bag."

(Varen): "Peter send me a picture of what that thing looks like."

Varen wanted to make sure if it was still an explosive chetarian energy core.

(Peter): "Yeah sure."

Varen waited for a while until he got the picture message.

Varen: "Morgana can you tell what this is?"

{It does not seem to be in any data server. But I did find some traces of explosive radiation, all you need is radiation to detonate it.}

(Varen): "Morgana said that it's a bomb, just a little radiation and it goes boom. It's best that you leave it in your hotel room and bring it back to the Cave when your back from DC."

(Peter): "Whoa your telling me that we have been carrying a bomb this whole time?!"

(Varen): "Pretty much yeah. Relax, it wont go boom without some raduation.😋"

(Peter): "That does not really make me feel better."

(Varen): "Anyway be careful when your on your little stake out mission. I have to go, im getting home soon and I have to get ready for my date with Gwen."

(Peter): "Date with Gwen?! You two are going out?"

(Varen): "No, she invited me to go eat with her family."

(Peter): "Oh, alright then. Good luck!"

Varen put his phone away and went up to his apartment. He went to his room and started to get dressed. He decided to where all black. He put on black jeans, black dress shoes, a black v-neck shirt, and a mid long black trench coat that had a belt suit collar.

After getting dressed Varen had some time to kill so he started to check up on work related things.

Varen: "Hey Morgana, is the WingJet done yet?"

{Yes it is. Your workers dropped it off in the location where you will pick it up later. It is also in camouflage mode so that no one sees it.}

Varen: "That's great. I need to buy some mechanic skills so that I can build my own vehicle and not rely on Orion engineers. System, show me engineering/Mechanical skills."

[Welding 500 SP, Tool knowledge 500 SP, Drafting 500 SP, Mechanical knowledge 2000 SP]

Varen: "Buy all of those. Is there any passive skills that can come in handy?"

[Lockpicking 300 SP, Pickpocket 300 SP, Drawing 300 SP, Composing 300 SP, Dancing 300 SP, Medical Knowledge 2000 SP]

Varen: "Buy all of those too. Having more skills is good."

After buying a few skills Varen went out to buy some flowers, he did not really want to show up empty handed. He bought Red Begonias, Pink Camellias, and Purple Plumerias.

After buying the flowers Varen drove to the address that Gwen gave to him. After arriving he parked nearby and decided to surprise Gwen. He went up through the fire escape, though he did have to use his powers a bit to reach it. He went up to the correct floor and looked through the window to see Gwen on her bed reading a school text book. Honestly Varen thought it was cute how she always seemed to have her head in a book.

Varen tapped on the window lightly enough to make Gwen raise her head. Gwen saw Varen kneeling down on the fire escape and was surprised for a moment but then smiled. She went to her window and opened it.

Gwen: "Hi! Hehe...how did you get out there?"

Varen: "Fire Escape. Your dorman was a little intimidating."

Varen went inside the apartment through the window.

Gwen: "Its 20 stories."

Gwen said in astonishment that sounded more like disbelief. Varen just chuckled at her surprised tone.

Varen: "Yeah. It's alright, it was not that bad of a climb."

Varen looked around the room and saw that it was very clean and organized, exactly the opposite of his and Peters.

Varen: "So this is your room."

Gwen: "Hehe yes, this is my room."

Varen: "Yeah, of course it is Haha."

Varen scratched the back of his head to hide his embarrassment and realized something. Varen poked his head out the window and grabbed the flowers that he left on the Fire Escape.

Varen: "Um, I got these for your mom."

Gwen: "Wow! They're beautiful, I'm sure she will love them."

Gwen took the flowers and smelled them. She then looked at Varens outfit and smiled. She blushed a little because she really liked how Varen looked. He was not formal but he still looked really nice and classy. She was sure that her mom at least would like him. As for her dad, she could only pray.

Gwen: "You look really good."

Just as she was going to talk more with Varen her door opened after a sudden knock.

???: "Hey hon"

A man in a suit walked into Gwen's room but stopped what he was going to say when he saw Varen. This was the man Varen met already when he fought Scorpion and Rhino, Gwen's dad George Stacy.

George: "This must be Varen."

Gwen: "Dad this is Varen."

Gwen said in a sort of whisper and gestured too Varen.

Varen: "Hello, nice to meet you sir."

Varen extended his hand for a handshake who George shaked firmly.

George: "Nice to meet you...dinner is ready. Hope you like Branzino."

Varen: "Who doesn't?"

Varen smiled as he said this but he has never eaten Branzino in his life.
