23 Chapter 23 Where Is Peter?

​Varen was woken up by the light coming in through his window. He grudgingly looked up at his alarm and saw that it was 9:00 A.M already. Well, it looks like I'm late yet again. Varen looked towards Peter's bed and saw that he was not there. He must have gone to school already. Varen got up and started to get ready for school all while cursing Peter.

Varen: "That asshole, he couldn't at least wake me up? He just left me here to be late for school."

30 minutes later Varen made it to school and walked into his classroom.

Ms. Choya: "That's two days in a row Mr. Parker. I really hope you do not make this a habit."

Varen: "Haha, sorry Ms. Choya. I slept a little late yesterday so I overslept. I'll try not to let it happen again."

Ms. Choya: "Yes Mr. Parker, you make sure of that."

Just as Varen was about to walk to his seat, the door suddenly opened as Felicia walked through.

Felicia: "Sorry I'm late."

Ms. Choya: "You to Ms. Hardy? What is with this week?"

Felicia: "Sorry sorry, I overslept. Late night."

Ms. Choya: "Yes, it seems that late nights is the latest trend with you kids."

I chuckled as I started to walk to my seat with Felicia joining me.

Varen: "You were really tired too huh?"

Felicia: "Exhausted."

We reached our usual table where we found MJ glaring at us and Gwen just studying like normal.

MJ: "You made me walk to school ALONE again!"

Varen: "I know I know, I'm sorry. It was a rough night for me yesterday."

MJ: "What could have been so important for you not to sleep last nigh-"

Ms. Choya: "Marry Jane please stop flirting with Varen in the middle of class time."

MJ: "I'm not!"

Marry Jane had her face as red as her hair as she tried to explain. This of course only made the class laugh more, even Varen and Gwen were holding in a chuckle. Felicia was just watching all of this with drowsy eyes that made her look like she would pass out at any moment.

Varen looked around the room for Peter so that he can give him a nasty glare for not waking him up in the morning, but he was not in class. That's weird, did he get called to the office or something? Just as Varen thought of this possibility he noticed that Ned was gone too. This only confused him more but he decided to just let it go since he will turn up at some point, Peter is not one to skip school.

Since Varen wanted to kill time he looked at his watch to check on the Symbiote. Before Varen went home yesterday, he first made a stop to the NightCave to set up a monitoring  system. This basically tracked the vitals if the Symbiote to make sure that nothing happened to it. On top of setting all of this up, he also tried to figure out which symbiote this was and how to improve upon it. Obviously Varen was planning on absorbing the symbiote but he wanted to find a way to make sure that his mind does not become corrupted, and to find another way to feed the symbiote since he did not want to go around eating people.

This was another reason that Varen was so tired today.

As class ended and lunch came around, Varen and the three girls sat at their usual table. Yet again Peter or Ned were not there.

That's weird, Let me try calling him. Varen called Peter but after a few rings it went to voice mail. Varen frowned and sent him a text.

(Varen): "Hey idiot pick up the phone!😡"

(Varen): "Where are you??"

(Varen): "Is Ned with you?"

Varen started to send a bunch of texts to Peter, but none of them were answered. Whatever, I have other stuff to think about. Like worrying about the press conference. If he really went through with this then he will get a bunch of attention from all over the world. He will be the youngest trillionare ever. His parents already know about his plan to tell the world so they have been busy with handling the press. After thinking about it Varen laughed to himself. This is almost like doing what Tony did when he told the world he was Iron Man, only he will be saying 'I'm the founder of Orion.'

Gwen noticed Varen day dreaming and decided to check on him.

Gwen: "Hey are you ok?"

Varen: "...huh?"

Gwen: "You were day dreaming."

Varen: "Oh sorry, yeah I'm fine. You know Gwen you never did call me when I gave you my number. I was intending to go on a date with you."

Gwen: "Wha-"

Gwen turned really red at my comment and tried to hide her face in her text book. She looked around the table to see the girls reactions but noticed that MJ was in the restroom and Felicia was sleeping. Gwen looked back up to see Varen still smiling at her.

Varen: "Do you not want to?"

Gwen: "I-its not that I dont want to...Do you like Branzino?"

Varen: "...Branzino?"

Gwen: "Yeah, my mom is making Branzino tonight."

Seeing Varens lost expression she clarified.

Gwen: "Fish."

Varen: "Oh. Yeah, I love fish."

Gwen: "Good, then...here."

Gwen wrote her address down on a sheet of paper from her notebook and gave it to Varen.

Gwen: "Come to this address at 8:00 P.M."

Varen: "8:00 P.M. Got it. How should I dress?"

Gwen: "Hehe it's just dinner Varen, wear what you would normally wear."

Varen: "What I normally wear?"

*Ding**Ding* The school bell rung signaling the end of lunch time. MJ just got back from the bathroom and grabbed her backpack.

Varen: "Alright, I'll see you tonight then."

Varen started to awkwardly wave goodbye to gwen who was walking to class. At the corner of his eye he saw MJ going the opposite way of her classes.

Varen: "Where are you going?"

MJ stiffined at the voice but turned around anyway.

MJ: "I'm going shopping."

Varen: "You mean your ditching?"

MJ: "Yeah wanna come?"

Varen: "Sorry but I'll pass."

Varen gestured to Felicia who was still sleeping with his thumb.

Varen: "I have to take sleeping beauty to class."

MJ felt a little disappointed that Varen was not going to ditch with her but immediately shrugged it off.

MJ: "Well I'm leaving, bye!"

MJ ran toward the exit while Varen just sighed and shook his head. He carried Felicia in a princess carry and took her to her class. This of course made him late for his class but he did bit really care.

In a blink of an eye school ended and Varen was driving home alone since Both Peter and MJ left school. As Varen was driving he got a text.

(Peter): "Hey Ren, sorry I worried you by not answering. I forgot to charge my phone last night so it was dead all day. I'm on the field trip with the Academic Decathlon team."

Filed trip? Does he mean the field trip to DC?

(Varen): "where are you?"

(Peter): "We are in DC, we got to the hotel a while ago so I was able to charge my phone."

(Varen): "Did you bring your Suit?"

(Peter): "Yeah, I brought it just in case something happened."

(Varen): "Good, can I ask you a question?"

(Peter): "Yeah sure."

(Varen): "What have you done as Spider-Man since I gave the ok?"

(Peter): "let's see...I stopped a few muggers here and there, not that hard. I stopped this guy who was trying to steal a bike, but I stopped him. I couldn't find who the owner was so I just wrote a note. This guy told me to do a flip. Oh and I helped this lost old Dominican lady, she was really nice. She gave me a churro."

(Varen): "Is that it?"

(Peter): "OH! I stopped an illegal arms deal that was happening under a bridge. Yeah they were gonna shoot this guy but I stopped them by shouting 'If your gonna shoot at someone shoot at me!' Haha I sounded so cool! I chased their van around the neighborhood for a bit and just when I was about to stop them a man in a robot bird suit swooped in and dragged me into the air! If it was not for the parachute the suit had built in, I would be toast!"

(Varen): "When did this happen?! Why are you only telling me now!"

(Peter): "It happened last night. You were not home when I got back so I forgot to tell you. That's also why my phone is dead."

(Varen): "What about the weapons, did you confiscate anything?"

(Peter): "Actually, yeah. I found this weird purple energy source thingy on the ground."

(Varen): "Where is it?"

(Peter): "...with Ned."
