1 Gray Lux

Feeling the changes in brightness I opened up my eyes and closed it back. Opening my eyes again I look at the clock hanged at the wall in front of my bed. The time is 7 in the morning.

I sit up for a while letting my blood flows throughout my entire body before getting up. As my normal blood pressure is low, I won't take a risk to of fainting just because i want to save a few minutes of time. Not that I'm in a rush anyway.

Stretching up my limbs and taking a deep breaths, I could feel my body is filled with energy after a good night of rest. Heading straight for the shower to freshen up myself for the day. Looking at the calendar, I speak to myself "After all these year.. I hope it won't be in vain."

While showering i started having thoughts again about today. 9th September Year 9 New Beginning. They thought they were incredible. Humans are the peak existence. The technology they brought is superb in every way. They have truly reached the peak. I.. We made some contribution to the success. Space travel is made possible due to our Lux corporation specially made material.

We name it Hope. I can't tell you the details but in short, Hope enables faster than light travel in outer space. Just that alone have made us billions in revenue and our name resounding throughout the globe. It also made humanity thirst for more resource in other planet. Maybe even colonize other life - sustainable planet. It also almost spelled the doomed of this particular world.

15 years after human began space mining and resource plundering, a whole fleet suddenly went dark. All signal and communication was lost. Eventually we lost contact with every ship out in the outer space. Not long after that, this world itself have been attacked by massive robotic fleet called Farmers. That day, humanity lost nearly 70 percent of the whole population. The terrains have changed as some continent got erased from the map, some split up and some miraculously appeared out of no where.

Brushing my teeth today, i felt a little pain and when i spit there is a little bit of blood. That put a stop to my thoughts of the past. I took a second look in the mirror admiring my own face though I'm 42 this year i still looked charming. My medium length hair which shines of black and silver linings giving the aura of a noble being.

"Hahaha what the hell noble being my ass. You're just a Puppet."

"Shut it Soul. Let me lose myself sometimes."

Telling my other self to shut up i continued where i left. Ah the obsidian black eyes with a sharp gaze can make anyone tremble in fear.

"Seriously though Puppet. Hurry up."

"Tch What a spoil sport."

Not in the mood anymore i quickly dry myself before going out of the bathroom. I headed straight to the wardrobe to dress myself. Opening it I was always satisfied at the fine collection i have of luxurious suits in there.

"Hmm What shall i wear for todays occasion. Anything would look nice on me. Haha."

"Stop it idiot Puppet. Do you even need to choose? There is exactly 21 pair of clothes in there. All of it is black and white. You can pick anywhere and it will be the same. Tasteless idiot."

I stood there in contemplation for a while. It is true that they are all black and white but their design is a bit different. Thus i wore my white underwear. Done with it i wore a fine piece of luxurious long sleeved black shirt. I put on a silver vest on top of it and a silver cuff to my black shirt. Ah how dashing would i look today.

"Wear your pants idiot."

Woah that was dangerous. How could I have forgotten. Quickly I took out a silver pant and wore it. Satisfied with my look I went to the kitchen and eat several bananas and two glasses of milk for breakfast. Noticing the clock was showing 7.25, it was time to leave. I was about to leave when I remembered I didn't have my pocket watch. I grabbed the intricately made mechanical pocket watch and put it in my left breast pocket of my vest. How elegant and classy must I look pondered my humble self.

Putting up my black stokings and black cloth shoes, I opened the main door and stepped out.

Taking a deep breath of this fresh morning air I feel blessed to still be alive this fine morning. I waved to my butler and said. "A very good morning Jack. Could I trouble you for a while? Todays the day I report to the school."

"Very good morning Mister Lux. Yes of course. I've made some preparation in advance so that our trip would be smooth. Please."

Opening the back seat door of this normal looking sedan and gesturing at me to enter while bowing his head, this butler is elegant. "Thank you." I said while entering the car. The car then smoothly moves into the road. A few minutes later i could see some police escorting us on the trip. Lost in my thoughts I almost fell asleep but luckily it appears that I have arrived to my destination, World Defense Academy. Every major country now would have built this academy for the purpose of nurturing soldiers that would defense humanity when the time comes. Every abled body is required to enter after the age of 18 years old. I was no exception to this rule thus here I am to enroll.
