16 Training Begins

It has been a few months since that incident in the outer city took place. I was glad that I ran away immediately after I attacked those thugs. As I thought back then, the people who handle public security don't really care about their jobs. They really only act when an attempted murder happens. Yep, me stabbing that thug and almost making him bleed to death was considered attempted murder of an 'innocent civilian'. Don't make me laugh. So it's ok to let r@pe happen but not murder? In my opinion, r@pe is a far worse crime than murder.

Speaking of which... seems like the thug didn't die if it was announced that it was just an 'attempted murder'.

Weiss decided to start teaching me about some worldly knowledge about a week after the etiquette stuff. He gave me a bunch of books to read and all that, but there was a slight problem—I didn't know how to read! Because of that Weiss taught me the Volant Language. Volant is the most common written and spoken language in the continent. It sounds exactly like English in my past life, which is quite weird. This is one of the reasons why the villagers back then were so adamant that I'm a Blessed One, it's because I could speak the Volant language fluently at a very age, even though I was just speaking English. However, the writing is worlds different, it doesn't use the same Latin letters as English does.

While I was learning how to read and write, I became curious if there's a language that's also similar to my native language in my past life—Filipino. Or was it Tagalog? Whatever, the two are essentially the same anyway. Let's just call it Filipino since that was my former nationality.

I tried speaking to Weiss in Filipino to see if he would recognize it as a language of this world. So I spoke to Weiss in simple phrases like 'kamusta' and 'magandang umaga'.

From Weiss' reaction, it seems like I'm the only one who can speak Filipino. It's kind of fun knowing that I might be the only person in the world that knows a completely unknown language. This might be useful in the future as well.

Weiss continued to teach me about etiquette and more worldly knowledge. Stuff like how money works in the continent, the different countries of the continent, and also how to conduct myself when serving my to-be master Lady Rosaline von Montampes.

Learning how money works is really important. Lumens is the common currency throughout the continent of Alumis, where we reside in. There are some exceptions, like the warrior tribes in the far north of the continent. They don't use money among themselves, but those people who venture off to explore the continent have no choice but to adapt to the world outside their tribes.

Hedal kingdom is the name of the country I'm in. The Hedal kingdom is on the west side of the continent. It's bordered by an ocean on the west which they named the Blue Abyss, Venid kingdom in the northeast which they are currently at war with, and the neutral Sosite dukedom in the southeast. The continent is pretty massive, might even be bigger than in my past life's Asia and Africa combined, so there are many more countries all around, but the two countries mentioned are worth note-taking. If I ever want to escape, these two countries are the only places where people would not follow me, lest they want to offend the other party.

The Venid Kingdom is a no-brainer. But I'm quite worried that they may try to capture me if they find out my bullcrap 'Blessed One' status. From what Weiss has taught me, the Venid Kingdom was way worse than Hedal. My only other option is the Sosite kingdom. They're apparently quite peaceful, as evidenced by their neutral status. No one really wants to mess with them, apparently, they have some sort of inheritance from an ancient era which is the deterrent for any ambitious fool that tries to take over them. Some have tried to steal this inheritance, but all of them didn't meet a good end, at least that's what Weiss told me.

I've moved into the Duke's manor in the Montampes territory for quite a while now. They have a mansion in the capital AND a large territory, it really suits the title of duke.... rich bastards... I'm kinda jealous. Duke Montampes and his daughter Rosaline also moved back to the manor along with Weiss and Rachel, the maid that was with Rosaline when I saw her before. Didn't what they were doing in the capital, but I didn't bother to ask Weiss, nor did I care.

Regarding the Montampes Ducal family, they are pretty powerful in both politics and wealth, as well as military strength. They're second only to the royal family, so they are very powerful even among other dukes. When Weiss was teaching me all this he has such a smug look on his face, as if bragging to me how amazing Montampes is.

I'm getting sidetracked again.... anyway, Weiss took me for a walk in the woods inside the duchy. I didn't know why he was taking me there but I didn't bother to ask questions. He made me wear a gambeson for some reason. It was thick and a bit stuffy but it didn't hinder my movements.

Weiss suddenly stopped walking so I followed suit. He turned and looked at me with a serious expression.

"I will ask you one question. You must answer truthfully."

"Ok?" I replied, a bit confused by the sudden seriousness.

"Do you want to become strong?"

I was a bit caught off by the strange question but I looked at him straight in the eye, "Yes. Of course."

He closed his eyes, "Good...", and then opened them after a few seconds, "...dodge"

Before I could even say "What?", Weiss suddenly lunged at me and punched me in the gut.

I was sent flying for a few meters. The sudden attack made me puke out what was once my breakfast.

I held my stomach in pain and glared at Weiss. "What the fuck was that for!?!"

"Starting today, training begins."
