10 New Owners [1]

This is it. I'm going to be sold, something I never thought was ever gonna happen in my life. I just wanted to live peacefully. If it wasn't for that thing... massacring everyone... forget it. What's done is done. I won't be able to move forward if I just keep wallowing in the past.

When I tried to escape, Malber was actually going to warn me not to try and escape as I was going to be moved to the capital for the auction. Quite funny that he couldn't even get to start his evil bad guy talk before I punched his balls.

Well as you already know from the last chapter, I failed. They sprayed something at my face which knocked me out soon after and when I woke up, I found myself inside a carriage. It was one of those fancy ones for important people with cushioned seats, but it was just a pretty cage as far as I'm concerned.

When I peeked through the window, I saw quite a lot of guards. Seems like Malber really doesn't want me to escape.

I could only sit inside and wait until I reach the capital.

========================================

Malber Coventry. Known as one of the wealthiest people in the kingdom. He mainly deals in slavery but has subsidiary companies that deal in other businesses. He's usually situated in the capital of the Hedal Kingdom, but he regularly makes rounds to his different slavery branches all over the kingdom.

This time, when he went to inspect his branch, it was as if he struck gold. One of his trusted men—Cole—have found an orphaned Blessed One. In the past few days, he has ordered his men to investigate the child's origins. Soon enough results were given to him. The child came from the secluded and peaceful village up north. It turns out the entire place was destroyed and its citizens massacred, only the child survived.

That village has always been low-key. Never bothering the outside world and vice-versa, except for when they buy weapons and tools, either from traveling merchants that come across the village or when some of the villagers go to Illias Town. Malber put the matter in the back of his mind. He didn't care and didn't bother to ask the child what happened. The only thing in his mind right now is the auction.

...

In the inner city of the capital of Hedal Kingdom. Many nobles and wealthy merchants were entering the main building of the Coventry group. All of them were anticipating the slaves being auctioned. Some of them looking for quality manual labor slaves, some looking for strong fighters to do their bidding, while some are just collectors looking for special people.

Slavery is scorned by the majority of the continent, however, there are still some countries that allow slavery—the Hedal Kingdom for example.

There is never a shortage of slaves. Wars are waged every day by the many countries all around the massive continent. Some slaves are captured from full-blown wars, while some just from small skirmishes. Of course, even if wars are a stable source of slaves, that never stopped immoral people from kidnapping fresh slaves from unsuspecting people. And while the act of kidnapping is considered sinful, others prefer to turn a blind eye—they'd rather choose to live than stick their noses in something they shouldn't.

Inside the building was a big auditorium, with several booths that are high up on the walls for VIPs—reserved for nobles with high ranking and powerful influence.

More and more people were filling up the seats. The VIP booths were already occupied as well.

Soon the entire place is full and the auction was about to start.

A slender and curvaceous woman wearing an extravagant dress entered the stage.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Coventry Slave Auction! Thank you all for coming here today. It is always a pleasure for the Coventry Group to serve you and give you quality slaves."

The host continued to say more flattering words for the customers, which stroked their egos as they were all rich merchants and nobles of high society.

"Let's not delay any longer. Here is the first slave to be auctioned."

An assistant entered the stage, pulling on a chain made of special steel that restrains auras. The other end of the chain was connected to a collar made with the same material. The collar was on a tall man. He had rough looks, an angular jaw, sharp eyes, and long brown hair that's tied in a ponytail. He wore an aggressive expression, clearly showing his disdain towards everyone in the auditorium. He only wore simple brown pants; wearing nothing in his upper body.

"This first one is called Rakuja. A strong warrior that hails from the warrior tribes of the far north. He was captured when our kingdom's brave knights and soldiers were valiantly fighting against Venid Kingdom on the frontlines. We suspect he's a mercenary hired to fight for the enemy. In terms of strength, he has reached the manifestation stage. Starting price starts at 2000 lumens!"

Almost immediately, bidders started to bid.

"2010 lumens!"

"2030!"

"2100!"

Soon after, the highest bidder has won with a bid of 6000 lumens.

"Congratulations Viscount Orelhi! You can claim your winnings in the back when the auction ends. Thank you again for coming to the Coventry Slave Auction!"

The noble who won the bidding wore a gloating smile, as though he's spreading salt on the wound of those who lost the opportunity to get a strong slave.

Soon more and more slaves are displayed and more bidders started to empty their pockets to get them.

Various slaves were auctioned; nobles or knights of an enemy country, exotic beings like elves, powerful warriors like Rakuja, and many more.
