5 A Farewell

Everyone's dead... all of them. My parents, Elder Zeph, the twins I play with a lot... all of them. The entire village is in ruins, some buildings still burning from the fire. None of them survived... except me.

By some miracle, I survived having our entire house fall on me. My mother dead, buried under the rubble. Right before the house collapsed on us, she pushed me away. As a result, she got crushed by the majority of the rubble, while I only got buried by some of it. She saved my life.

When I got out of the rubble I saw my dad, stabbed by multiple blades on his back and had many slash wounds on his front. He bled too much and died as well. I think he was trying to dig us out of the rubble, it lessened the weight of the rubble that buried me, which enabled me to breathe. He also saved my life.

My parents in my past life were the worst. They acted like I didn't exist, but my new parents, were the best one could have. They cared for me, taught me, fed me, clothed me, and loved me. I loved them too... I just got this new life, new parents that actually cared for me. SO WHY?!?! WHY DID I HAVE TO LOSE THEM SO SUDDENLY!!!

Just why...

I cried. I've never cried so much in both of my lives. It was heart-wrenching. The feeling was vastly different from when grandpa died.

Grandpa died in peace. He was old and he's already accepted his fate, that's why he didn't tell me early on to prevent me from getting money for treatment. But this... is too much. My parents didn't die in peace. They were brutally murdered by those things. It was too hard to accept. I didn't want to believe that this was happening yet it was, the reality is right in front of me. The bloody and cruel truth.

My crying went on for quite a long time. I didn't know how long nor did I care, I just wanted to cry.

When I finished crying, I was a mess, yet I still didn't care.

I got up and tried to find my mother's body beneath the rubble. As a 10-year-old child, this was close to impossible but I never gave up. It took 5 days until I finally dug out my mother's corpse. During that time I was feeding myself by hunting small animals like rabbits. I may have been playing around for most of my time but my father was still a hunter, he taught me simple animal traps for small animals. Regarding water though, I just took some from the village well.

I looked around the ruins of the village. I found a shovel, there was a bit of blood on it, and was a bit dented, but it was good enough.

I walked towards the plains. I looked around for a bit and found a suitable spot. There was a small hill in the middle of the plains. I walked towards there and started digging.

It took me 10 hours of constant digging but I finally dug a hole 6-feet deep, wide enough for a human. I started digging again for another 10 hours and made another 6-foot deep hole. With the help of aura, I was able to do this back-to-back with few rests.

I went back to the village and carried the dead bodies of my parents. I carefully lowered them to each hole, with their arms laying over their stomach. I covered the holes with the soil that I dug out. I brought over 2 wooden planks and carved their names.

"Here lies Dorian, a kind father, and a faithful husband."

"Here lies Linda, a wise mother, and a caring wife."

I embedded the 2 planks into the ground at the respective graves.

I looked back at the village. There are still a lot more dead people that need to be buried.

"Well, time to get to work." I chuckle to myself, never expecting that I'd be making an entire graveyard myself in both of my lives.

...

"Done."

I wiped the sweat off my forehead. I've finally finished making graved for every single one of the villagers. Every grave had a wooden plank with their names carved into it with a small description about them similar to my parents' graves.

I scanned the area. The graveyard was very big. At the very center was my parents' graves. It took me 10 to 15 days to finally bury everyone.

My heart felt heavy seeing this. Memories about the past 10 years flashed in my mind. From the moment I discovered that I got reincarnated into a baby to the day before the tragedy.

Tears fell from my eyes once again, but I didn't cry as much as before. I just felt melancholy.

"Everyone... thank you for everything. Thank you for the memories. Mom... Dad... Thank you..... and farewell..."

I bowed deeply towards the graveyard, tears still dripping down from my face.
