1 1: A Gravity Falls Problem

If you've ever taken a road trip to the Pacific Northwest, you've probably seen a bumper sticker for a place called Gravity Falls. It's not on any maps, and most people have never heard of it, some people think it's a myth. But if you're curious, don't wait. Take a trip. Find it. It's out there somewhere in the woods, waiting. . .

-Dipper Pines

Dipper and Mabel waited anxiously for their return to Gravity Falls. They didn't plan to come back, and they didn't expect the emergency phone call from one of their close friends.

"Faster!" Dipper hissed at the driver, who had barely gotten any sleep the night before. It was the last bus going to Gravity Falls, and the twins didn't care that it was at 3AM. "This is as fast I can go, sir." The driver mumbled tiredly.

Dipper began to pace. After a few minutes, he sighed. "How long?" He asked impatiently. "1 hour left. If you were to go on foot, you could cut through the the forest, then it's a 30 minute walk from there." Mabel answered, glancing at a map.

He sighed once again and made his way to the front. "Kid, it's late. Go home. We can take it from here." The young driver nodded sleepily and opened the door for them. Dipper gave him a tip and pulled Mabel out with him.

"Dipper, you know it's dangerous out in the forest, especially at this time." She said calmly, resting her hands on her hips. Dipper ignored her. "In Gravity Falls, everything's dangerous." He kept walking. They didn't have any luggage. They weren't exactly looking to stay there for the summer.

-----------------------------------------------------------

"Dipper. . . Is this Dipper Pines? Look, I know it's been a while, but, we really need your help. . . Please come here as soon as possible. We have a problem."

Dipper replayed the voice message over and over again.

"We have a problem. . ."

"We have a problem. . ."

"-A Gravity Falls problem. . ."

That was enough to keep him up till 1AM, when he finally decided to buy bus tickets to Gravity Falls.

"Dipper, what's going on?" Mabel was woken up and dragged out of bed by Dipper.

"We have to go."

"Go? Go where?"

"Gravity Falls. There's been a problem."

"What? You expect to go there at this time?"

". . ."

"Mabel, it's a Gravity Falls problem."

Dipper tore through the twigs and bushes, racing towards the direction of the shack. Mabel followed closely behind. "Yes!" He whispered, recognizing the signs he put up nearly 5 years ago. He felt his hand on the metal tree, opening it and pressing the buttons.

He felt as if he was 12 again, when he first found the Journal that he had lived with through most of the summer, all those adventures he had been on thanks to this book.

He was glad that he had hidden it before leaving. He grabbed the dusty book, following the rest of the signs to the Shack. He didn't knock, instead, he burst through the front door. "Dipper! What's wrong with you?!" Mabel scolded.

"Dipper?" A tall redhead walked over to the front door. It was obvious she hadn't slept yet; in fact, it looked like none of them had. The twins looked at the dining table to see that most of them were awake and seemed to be discussing something.

"We came as soon as we can. . ." he panted, tired. Wendy opened her mouth to speak, but Dipper raised a hand to silence her. "What the hell happened?" Dipper asked. Wendy and the others exchanged worried looks and let them in, slamming the door closed and locking it.

The 'others' consisted of all the zodiac members, but oddly enough, Stan and Ford weren't there. Fiddleford was rapidly typing at a computer, one of those modern ones. The twins nearly didn't recognize him.

His beard and goatee was gone, shaved clean. (Along with that awful band-aid, might I add,) and he wore casual clothes. He ditched the hat and dyed his hair brown.

"Pacifica? Gideon?" Dipper blinked in confusion. They both looked terrible, which was a first, seeing as they were both rich.

Gideon lifted his head and gave Dipper a slight nod, acknowledging him. Pacifica stared at the twins. Her hair was a mess, and her face, for once, didn't have any makeup. She had bags under her eyes and sighed.

"Hey Dip, Mabes." she said softly. They were taken aback. Where was the petty, shop-till-you-drop brat Pacifica? This was a completely different side of her, and the twins were surprised to see it.

"Cut the crap. What happened?" Dipper impatiently snapped. "Mr. Pines," Soos muttered. "Both of them. They're gone. . ." He said softly.

"Gone? What do you mean gone?" Mabel cried. "They just. . . Disappeared." Wendy answered. "All that was left was this. . ." She handed Dipper a piece of paper. It had a bunch of jumbled letters on it.

Wendy leaned on the wall. "We tried every code. Looked it up on countless websites. Caesar, Atbash, A1Z26, everything." "Not everything. . ." Dipper said. "The letters involved are only A-G. And the numbers are only 1-5. Like. . . Piano notes."

He took out his phone and opened a piano app. He played it. He knew the song, and he recalled a certain demon playing it during an apocalypse. "Shit."

He took a seat, seemingly trembling. "Dipper?" He looked to his twin. "It's him. He's back." He said, defeated. "Who's back?" Almost everyone asked him. He looked at them in fear and stood up. He started pacing, muttering to himself.

"It can't be. There's no physical way for him to come back into this dimension. . . Unless. . ." "Dipper, get it together." Mabel said, trying to calm him. "No, no, no, no, no. . . But how do we explain-- it must be someone else, yeah, someone else. . ."

"Impossible. It doesn't make sense." Wendy grabbed him by the shoulders. "Dipper. Tell us, what do you know?" She asked, worried. "He- He's back. . ." He repeated.

    "Bill Cipher is back."
